Christ Way Church welcomes you to hear a blessed message from Pastor Annu Mahesh. The title is ‘Do you know why you are losing your blessings from God?’
In Songs of Solomon 2.15 we read, “Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vineyard for our vineyards are in blossom “. This scripture teaches us that the little things that are easily overlooked can make a big impact on our life. If someone doesn’t handle a small task well, will he be promoted to a big task? In the same way, if we are not faithful in little things we will not be faithful in much. Undoubtedly, obeying God in big things is important but submitting to His will in the smaller things is equally important. Let us understand this through two parables. In Luke 16: 1-13 Jesus is asking us to make friends with our unrighteous wealth because it has no eternal value. At the same time, we can make treasure in heaven with this unrighteous wealth. True wealth is righteousness which brings prosperity and blessings. Worldly wealth can give righteousness which we may feel is a small thing. We have to use our money for the purpose of the kingdom.
Make friends with unrighteous wealth. These people are those whom we can help with our money i.e. those who are humble, work hard and our leaders. We are commanded to give one tenth of our income for the kingdom purpose. Proverbs 11.24 says, “One gives freely yet grows all the riches, another withholds what he should give and only suffers want”. God loves a cheerful giver and he makes grace abound in us so that we will have sufficiency in all things. Giving money can increase our righteousness. If we are not faithful in unrighteous wealth, he will not entrust us with true riches. Another parable to illustrate the importance of faithfulness in little things is found in Mathew 25:14-30. The meaning of this parable is that before Jesus Christ went away from this world, he left his kingdom work to his disciples through his church by giving them talents according to the grace and ability. The level of responsibility is different. Trading with the gift is the way in which God blesses us. We need to be sincere, hardworking and faithful with our talents. If we don’t serve God, then we will not receive any blessing from Him. Moreover, we will suffer loss in this world and our eternal dwelling. Work with your character to become a better person and with your gift that God has given you. We think serving God with our gift is a small thing. We are called to obey God even in small things. Circumstances test our integrity every day. We think big things matter. Little disobedience, little laziness or fear are dangerous. The Bible says to catch the little foxes. Foxes appear to be innocent and cute. They are actually crafty and clever animals. We may think that a beautiful little fox stealing a few grapes doesn’t matter. We just ignore it. It can surprisingly do a lot of damage later on. The wine and grapes are our new life, character and ministry. Every day we have to make little progress in our life. Every day, many things enter into our life like little foxes. Man looks at outward appearances but God looks at our heart. If we are faithful in small things, we will make God so happy. If one fox enters into our vineyard, he will bring with him many foxes. Therefore, beware of how you handle your little things. Don’t be unfaithful with your money, spiritual gifts and time. Be careful to give thanks to God for the little things and then God will cause you to be grateful for the big things.
