To me what makes this scene so powerful was that she helped these ordinary people with a little effort thrive and have a good business and a good livelihood. With that little effort which might not have meant as much to her, they gladly reached into their own pockets gathered money to send to her. They barely know each other personally but they heard of her plight and felt it was their time to help her when she helped them. The difference of what their loving gesture to her vs the entire fiasco of her husband's betrayal, lying, financial abuse, and overall mistreatment over a span of years. The 1 person she trusted with her life, love, heart, soul, and future, threw that all away for a piece of a$$. Sometimes the most humble and poor can teach us what really matters and how to act and treat each other. At the end she is far luckier than him. I'm sure his parents are equally devastated over all this, but they can't raise their heads for the shame he brought their family. That's what they raised. I'd be ashamed just knowing him. He never really repented, he just got caught. True repentance would have happened after the first time he had sex with the mistress. When he kept going back, he went beyond that point. Total scumbag and he knows it.

Thanks for sharing. It must have been tough. There are like five stages when someone experienced something bad. They are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. She probably experienced all the first 4 stages except acceptance. Once if she realized what happened is truly a reality and she can finally accept the truth, then she can let go. Maybe you or someone or something can help her to realize it . She can only find peace in her heart if she can finally learn to let go.

Nothing but Thirty.. i think you can find all the episodes on youtube itself... Gu Jia also starred in another famous period drama call Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace.. In that she played the role of a cunning and selfish concubine... but its worth the watch.. everyone's performance in that is stellar... and the costume designing won awards as it was close to the authentic dresses of during that era... its episodes are also on youtube..
