"Counting cards" is only a problem when the mark can count cards _accurately_ and _reliably_ .

One way casinos defeat card counter is called “flat betting” the effective counter. In this method, a card counter is disallowed from varying their bet on any given shoe. Whatever bet they place on the first bet of the show is the only bet they are allowed to make for the entire show.
I’ve had this done to me. In response, I would “back count”. Back counting is a method wherein the counter observes other players, then starts betting (big) once the count is high. In response, the casino then disallows mid shoe entry for the counter. My local tribal casinos all have such tactics in place for me. I can no longer count cards (effectively) in my county.

I remember hearing something like "It's not illegal to count cards but if you're really good at it and you're winning nonstop then the casino will find some way to say 'you're too good for us, you have to leave.'"
That's why the house always wins, if they start losing then they just break the game.

I saw an interview with a casino head of security once, and he said that so few people are skilled enough at counting cards to make it pay off, that they don't care if someone looks as if they are doing it. They almost welcome it because most people who think they can do it lose their shirts.

I love how in tv and movies they make it seem like an easy thing to do quickly solo. When in reality you’re sitting for hours on end (often in teams) losing hand after hand and losing money.

You know you have been to too many casinos around the country when you recognize the dealer on a TV show is an actual dealer in real life! Thank goodness I stopped going as of 8 yrs ago.

This should be common knowledge against anyone who is gambling. If they think you're counting cards, they can ask you to leave.
It doesn't have to be illegal for them to kick you out.
Another words there are private establishment and they can refuse service to anyone at any time for any reason. As long as they're not discriminating against a protected class, and card counters are not a protected class.

I remember in my early blackjack days, I was in the first chair and sitting on like 14 and asked for a hit, but the people in the other chairs were groaning. The dealer acted like he didn't hear me and refused to hit me and all the players ended up winning as a result, including me. Never forgot that, lol.

They really should have gotten a real card counting consultant for this scene, this is not at all how card counting works. You would never, EVER stand on 8, and card counters cannot predict the next card, they just know what the odds of a face card coming out are. The only exception might be if you're shuffle tracking, but you would still never stand on 8 and the order of your tracked slug is not going to be this precise.

They’ll never kick you out if you count cards and bet consistently. But you can’t profit from that. Most people (who counts cards) bet minimum when the count is low (unlikely for house to bust), and bet high when count is high. So many often has team, one to always low and signal crews (secretly) in when it’s high.

My dad is really good at gambling. The casinos often give him free stuff like those tickets. They also repeatedly give us free rooms or gifts to entice my dad to come back to the casino/hotel in the hopes they’d get their money back from him. Sometimes they do, he’s not invincible - but he makes sure they don’t win much back. And eventually he wins again. It’s like a big tug of war but dad always wins since they keep giving us free stuff like the rooms, appliances, cruise ship tickets, free dining at their restaurants, free movies, concerts, shows, etc.
That’s when I realized dad wasn’t gambling for the money so much. He was gambling for all the free shit. We’ve literally been to the Bahamas 3 times for free thanks to the casinos, Bermuda twice, Hawaii and New Orleans once.

Ridiculous, casinos don't care about card counting. It became a huge issue because there was a group where 1 would sit and count and then call in their friends when the count was good

Thats the softest walk of all time. Usually it’s a squeeze on the shoulder, “come with me, you show your face again and we’re gonna have a problem” type situation.
