I am a last minute type of guy and waiting until late November to turn my boiler on. Currently using propane to heat the house, but propane can get expensive. This will be my second season using the outdoor wood boiler and I really enjoy it. I replaced rope seal last year and it still looks good. But I know that I will probably have to replace it next year. Thanks for the tips Jay.

my fireplace insert needs a new rope seal, i test this by closing all windows and turn on the extractor hood in the kitchen and then i open the fireplace door and light a ball of newspaper in there and when i close the door with all vents closed it should go out and smoke will appear and sneak out the places where the rope gone bad because of the vacuum from the extractor hood
