    The priced dropped 3 /4 thru my build. When buying the rest of the parts to complete my build. I pulled the trigger and bought the drag slash. At 299.00 you get the complete car with a controller. I have over 300 into my build..along with alot of headaches finding out what fits and what doesn't. So IMHO...its worth every penny . All tho alot of my build parts where hand selected and definitely a step up from the boxed one. But penny wise I've invested alot more money and time on the pieced build.

    Good review but I thought no prep drag racing was 132 feet. I just recently got my Drag Slash and 2s it did 40 mph in 3.08 seconds and 3s it did 54 mph in 2.810 seconds. I did use the TSM for both tests and left the original pinion gear in it because I knew I would run 3s in it and didn’t want to burn up the electronics. My Drag Slash is intended for just easy driving to some butt clinching moments in 3s. I have a Slash build no prep drag racing car that has no gyro and is considered “the hot rod” because it has the aftermarket electronics. You’re right about Traxxas nailing it. They did put some thought in it and the trans brake is pretty cool to use to accommodate the track conditions and the car.

    I had to show this car to my dad as soon as I saw it, the man lives for late 60s Chevy trucks. He has a gripe though, the rear window is large. Which either means this body is based on a optional package for the 67, or it's actually a 68, where the small rear window was the optional package.

  • @blindj
    @blindj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I love the channel but just a few thoughts on this video.
    This truck is definitely not larger than the slash. It's the same exact size in length and actually narrower in width.
    All it is is a slash LCG chassis with bandit arms. And Traxxas rustler (tra6852a) drive shafts.
    Innovative this is not.
    - I've had that trans brake feature on my $80 radio link radio for months now. High-end radios have had that feature for years.
    - Guys have been building this same exact truck for years I have one myself that was built. The transmission is new and so is the gyro settings but that's about it. They have limiters in the shocks but guys have been putting fuel tubing to achieve the same thing.
    - At first I thought the truck was a little overpriced but realized building the same exact truck piece by piece costs a little bit more.
    -You definitely want a high milliamp battery at least 5,000mAh. Voltage equals RPM. Most racers will only race maximum three drag hits and then change the battery. You will only get slower every time you make a drag pass if you don't charge your battery and top off the voltage, doesn't matter the power system. Can you run it for a long time with even a lower milliamp battery, yes but it won't help you when you're trying to tune the car at all. With the high amp draw you will definitely need a high milliamp battery or your drag hits just won't be consistent at all after the first two hits.
    - Also people run no prep on 2S 3S 6S. No prep is not a class of racing It just describes the surface. Street eliminator Street outlaw Street unlimited 1/10 unlimited 1/8 unlimited 1/7 unlimited are some of the classes of races That can be raced no prep.
    -1/10 scale street eliminator no prep races are 132 ft. Which is 1/10 scale of a full quarter mile which is 1,320 ft
    Yes with the GNSS you can test any distance you choose by changing the setting
    1/10 scale , 1/8 mile is 66 ft Which guys test alot too or even 6-ft which is a 1/10 scale 60-ft test.
    -Unfortunately the gyro settings are cool but regardless that you can turn it off any receiver with a gyro is not permitted and is the problem people are referring to behind having it there at all. I understand why it's there and actually like the fact that they put it in though. Most people that want to get into drag racing more seriously end up switching the radio out anyway.
    -Do yourself a favor and put a way bigger pinion in there. Above 30t w/76t spur. Local guy is running 2.3-2.4 with stock VXL and slash LCG chassis on 2s.
    Warming your tires on a piece of carpet will definitely help them get sticky and not wear them out nearly as quickly as asphalt burnout. That being said definitely don't do a burnout on any plasticy type (outdoor carpet) carpet because the tires will melt the plastic and it will make the surface of your tire very slick with melted plastic.
    **-When your car is pulling to the right consistently take a little bit of preload out of the left tear OR add a preload spacer to the right.
    *Consistently pulling to the right indicates you are getting more traction in the left rear tire so that left rear tire is being pushed harder to the ground than the right and needs to be balanced out
    **Love the channel keep up the work

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My fault on the distance 100%! I mentioned it 'felt and looked' bigger than the slash and on the bench it does. I know the 'no prep' refers to the surface but also that the most common class people refer to as no prep is 2S.
      I was happy with this shakedown on the 5200mah pack although I might try a smaller pack to see if the weight makes any difference, although you'd have to recharge a tiny pack betwen runs.
      My next test is to put the alternative gearing it comes with in although I'll run this again over the right distance not sure what I was thinking, although I was trying to keep an eye on my daughter at the same time as filming this.
      On the right rear I've put a bit more pre-load in, is that the right thing to do? I am still learning on this.
      I shall do my best on keeping up the good work! Just had 10 days away and so playing catch up!
      Stay safe

    • @blindj
      @blindj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DriftomaniacsRC Yes in your circumstance where it is pulling to the right slightly adding a little preload to the right side is what you want.
      *Why it's pulling essentially is because your left rear tire is gripping a little more and pushing the car to the right. Your right rear tire is slipping and not pushing as hard. By adding preload to the right rear you are pushing the right rear down to the road a little bit harder and evening out the traction. (Hopefully) That works 99% of the time to get it going straight. On the same token you don't want six different preload spacers on each of the shocks because it essentially changes the stiffness of the spring. Too stiff with a spring and the shocks can't work at all. Sorryo you can also* In your case with your car pulling to the right REMOVE a left side preload would accomplish the same thing. Anyway you did the correct thing by adding one to the right side.
      I realize you're just starting out and believe me everybody goes through it at the beginning it's a lot of stuff to take in all at once You're watching a light you trying to make sure the car is going straight you're controlling the throttle trying not to touch the steering too much. As you get more practice in and your car is running straighter you'll get more comfortable. Definitely don't get discouraged even the top guys cars wiggle around and don't always go straight. You're always fighting power with traction. If you got perfect traction all the time you're not giving it enough power. Watching are also ads and unpredictable added task to the whole event.
      Having a higher mAh battery does add weight but with the amperage draw er if your battery is too small you will trigger LVC after a very few drag hits. I have seen my car pull 175+ amps at the launch. I actually have LVC disabled so it doesn't cut out during a drag run and cut my power. Not recommended for new erasers though. You know how easy it is too damage a lipo And some people don't realize how much power these systems can pull in that short amount of time. I have good quality batteries and after three drag runs my cells are at 3.9 100c 600 mah and 120c 5200mah 2s packs. I run the same ET with both packs though.
      I love the drag slash I think it's an excellent truck. Looking forward to more videos.

      I saw that in another video of this truck, but I'm cautious as to blaming it on tire ballooning, I think it might just be kicked up dust.
      From what I could tell, the paint was coming off near the side of the tire, which makes no sense if it's ballooning, it should be centered with the wheel if that's what's causing it.

Some people do replace every part, including frame, electronics, and every other part held on by screw or bolt. I’m selling mine, it has no passes on it. Also selling my Losi 22s Camaro. It has no passes, because it stripped the spur gear the first time I tried to see how fast it was. It took three months to find a replacement spur gear, because everything for these cars is on back order everywhere. No fun to have a $500.00 car sitting unusable, because of a $4.oo part. This has turned into a rich man’s hobby. 😡
