    this really shows Guru's experience. From the not prepping or pre mixing to the way he explains while mixing. Both are great engineers but I really learned from Guru. He's a great teacher and hope to see more of him on here or twitch.

    Yung Guru’s mix was definetly more smooth/warm but I love Cruz’s mix it’s more in your face and has that body to it and almost matches the energy of the song itself.

    Both mixes were good. Guru's mix kept most of the dynamics intact and felt nice and punchy. Cruz's mix had more lofi appeal and felt warmer and cleaner. Great show, great information. Salute...

    The composition as a whole is fire. Production was meaty while remaining comfortably minimalist. The insights on the mix from the two pro engineers is timeless wisdom. And of course the verse and chorus contributors have an important message to share.

    As I watch top tier engineers work, I feel like records which had been recorded very well through good equipment and the performance is spot on as well, are a lot easier to work with than with stuff recorded by people who don't have the knowledge or the time/money to make the initial material sound almost as good as the end product. Problem-solving skills are revealed in that field. Anyway, it's a very informative video, thanks for the content!

    I like what GU did on his mix with bass and drums they were sitting right in the pocket. Sounds good on studio monitors... !!! I'm going to have to experiment more with tape. I have the ATR-102 and OMG on my master it really does add something extra. I'm saving up for the API summing. I need UAD to be more reasonable with the pricing on their plugins.... I feel like I'm having to do a lot of out of pocket for these plugins.

    • @JamarConley
      @JamarConley 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Their stuff is expensive. I've thought about buying into UAD. I just don't see the point of paying for plugins and then having to spend at least 8k to run a few plugins per track on an entire mix. I think it's dope what they've done. But at the regular price, you're paying around 3.5k for maybe ten plugins. You could get nice gear and plugins for cheap that will get you better results because they won't be limited by Uad DSP. The Sharc DSP chips cost nothing. You can buy them by the thousands for like $16 a chip. Invest in going hybrid.

    • @Ast3rixMusic
      @Ast3rixMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JamarConley if I started down the rabbit hole of outboard gear I really would be broke. Think about it each outboard piece depending on what you get will cost around 2,000 a piece. I’m spending less by going the uad route. Yes the plug-in prices are ridiculous but the sound quality is definitely there and look at what the pro engineers are doing. Most are moving into the box and using uad stuff. They have said that the plugins sound like the real gear. I really wish the plug-in prices would fall in line with the rest of the Industry. Waves plugins are good and their emulations are on par with the real gear. Why can’t they match in pricing?

    • @JamarConley
      @JamarConley 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ast3rixMusic I'm not saying get a lot of gear. But if you're chasing the Analog sound then that's a good route. Someone saying that something sounds like something else is subjective. Plugin Alliance makes some Brainworkx plugins and has great sounding plugins. Someone on here done a comparison of the same plugins with UAD and Native, theirs no difference. UAD makes great sounding plugins, but they don't need the useless DSP to run them. They're just overpriced, that's why.

    • @Ast3rixMusic
      @Ast3rixMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JamarConley I’m staying in the box personally. I picked uad because of the sound of the gear and plugins. I am selective about what I buy from them . I use waves for a lot of effects but love using the master level plugins from uad. In the end I am blending regular vst’s with my uad plugins. The sound I’m getting... is amazing. I am using Luna as a console and using the neve summing and the tape plugins. To my ears It sounds like I’m in a big studio with million dollar gear.
