Istanbul, Türkiye - Welcome to Istanbul, one of the most fascinating, historical, and delicious cities in the world. Today I’ll be taking you on an ultimate Turkish street food tour in Istanbul - you can expect some iconic street foods and some unseen surprises!
Here are the places we ate in this tour:
📍Galata Simitçisi (maps.app.goo.gl/21CJNCCZZ4FMS...) - You can’t come to Istanbul without trying simit, a common ring shaped bread that you’ll find at bakeries and street food carts throughout the city.
📍Çiğ Köfteci Seyfettin Usta (maps.app.goo.gl/u6i4Fj4LEpNRh...) - One of my absolute favorite Turkish foods is Çiğ Köfte, that includes raw meat, bulgur, and lots of spices.
📍Dürümcü Raif Usta (maps.app.goo.gl/xkrWpGzZeSoBy...) - Turkey is the king of kebabs and a durum is a grilled kebab served wrapped in bread so it’s often fast and on the go.
📍Tarihi Eminönü Derya Balıkçısı 1945 (maps.app.goo.gl/qq2h2opz347XS...) - Probably the most iconic of all Turkish street foods in Istanbul is the balik ekmek, a grilled fish sandwich still served on a boat on the Golden Horn.
📍Beşaltı Kirvem Tantuni (maps.app.goo.gl/Sbf1E4iCwXEg1...) - It’s hard to find anything tastier than tantuni!
📍Tekrartekrarr Bay Köfte (maps.app.goo.gl/GkhSxeCbeQyJW...) - This was something totally unique and that I’d never seen before, an ultimate cheese overdose, and so good!
📍Sokak pilavcısı (maps.app.goo.gl/sKCn3GwgLJFa7...) - Another popular Istanbul street food is rice and chickpeas with shredded chicken, and you’ll find it all over the city.
📍Midyeci Erkan (maps.app.goo.gl/bfvrVjSiiwJdk...) - If you love mussels, midye dolma are a dream come true. They go down so easily and are so addictive!
Istanbul is a street food paradise, and I hope this video will give you some ideas for what to eat when you’re there!

Istanbul is my favourite destination. The food is amazing and the key is to avoid "tourist" restaurants around attractions - just go deeper into the streets and see where you see all their local people sitting and eating, and just order there - you just cant fail! And TUrkish people are amazing hosts. I love their friendly culture, kindness and etiquette
And local foods much better than tourist foods. Example balkan restorants they selling cheap and good quality food better than tourist foods
as a Turk, this is a very accurate comment. Especially im so sad for those who come to Turkiye and leave without seeing real baklava. I can say that the baklava of the Güllüoğlu's is the best I have ever eaten. Everyone should eat from it. By the way, let me also point out that Istanbul is just the tip of the iceberg. If you research where local dish come from and go to those provinces, you may lose your mind because the taste of the food is so good.
Jag håller definitivt med dig.

I spent two months in Istanbul last year - hands down my favorite 'vacation' ever. Great food, people, and cheap ferry rides (that I took advantage of almost daily)! I stayed in the Kadiköy neighborhood, near the crazy streets with shops and restaurants. There's a menemen place called Meşhur Menemenci Cemal Polat that I visited almost every day for breakfast ... menemen with white cheese and a small tea! I really need to go back!
Great to hear that, glad you enjoyed Istanbul so much, thanks for the tip!
you even put the correct names and letters in your comment huge respect man! I'm glad you had a good time in Istanbul
Great video, Mark! Me and my dad actually stopped and got a photo with you in istanbul! You're such a great guy!
My city, Istanbul, is a magnificent place with fantastic cuisine. You captured its essence perfectly. Turkiye is at the crossroads of everything; we are European, Asian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Balkan. This gives us great cultural richness, which is reflected in our food.
Love this Turkish food adventure just makes me drool 🤣🤣🤣 watching from the Philippines 🇵🇭. Thanks for this wonderful vlog 👍

I was in Istanbul in Nov 2015...missed so many food experiences. Looking forward for another vacation to Turkiye and go to all the places that Mark covered
Welcome back to Turkey after 8 years. Nice to see you.
Hi. Nice to see you in istanbul. Majority of turks didnt speak english but they are absolutely friendly people. Been living in istanbul for almost 3 years now. I gained almost 12kls now because of their cuisines. 😅
Yess!! Türkiye again after many years!!!
It's been too long!
@@MarkWiens Welcome back again to my country. Dear Mark Wiens i am very happy. I wish you have great nice foodfull journey in Turkey. I do not know your route but you must go to two cities that are the best gastronomic cities in Turkey one is a must Gaziantep (capital of Baklava and Kebap) and the other is my homeland Adana (where the famous legendary Adana Kebap and our national drink Shalgam was born). If you don't know Shalgam, Shalgam is a non alcholic fermented Turnip and Black Carrot juice that is very savory and goes with Kebap very well must try it sometime. I am sorry that in 2015 you had to go back early because of the stupid coup attempt that you and your family encountered.
Thanks Mark! Turkish food is on another level!
Mark Wiens is definitely my food guru! But he is also my "how to treat people" guru! I love the way he profoundly respects and admires all those people working around food! Thanks Mark! 🌿

I go too Turkiye 2 times a year, Istanbul I have amazing friends there and my GF. I love it there and may end up moving there; out of the city though. The transportation is amazing too!
Turkiye is crazyyy, best food believe me.
Istanbul is one of my favourite places to visit, been 3 times and is always full of surprises, happy to see you still winning Mark, thanks for the nostalgia.
Wow, everything looks delicious! I am obsessed with Tantuni-it's one of the best on-the-go dishes. Great video, Mark!
Oh! How I wish I was with you guys, experiencing this Mediterranean cuisine of Turkish variant. I always crave for Istanbul. It fascinates me in so many ways(people, history, astounding landscapes, cuisines, cultures, traditions etc).
the feeding from these guys is a common gesture in turkey, it means that the person feeding really likes you.
Mark …. I have been watching you non stop since 2015… nearly a decade now and till date as soon as I get your notification I leave everything and just watch ur videos!!!! Continue to grow … lots of love Mark ….. cheers bud
Thank you very much for all your support over the years!
We are currently visiting Istanbul from New Zealand and tried Dürümcü Raif Usta based off your review Mark, all I can say is that it was absolutely delicious! Definitely check the place out if you can, the staff are very friendly and the service is super quick!
Welcome and hope you enjoy your trip! I dont know if you're still in the city but as a note, try to avoid that "çiğ köfte" place. It looks really bad. The real çiğ köfte or raw meatball is not allowed for sale for a while now because of health risks since it contains raw meat literally. Though it is legal to serve if they prepare it right there to serve right after preparation unlike the ones that you'll see under the name of çiğ köfte while its nothing but bulgur and lots of sauce and tastes nothing alike. Some kebab restaurants still do the way i describe so if you wanna try it, you should look from there and not the ones that you see on the street named as çiğ köfte stands.
My brother and I followed your videos from a while back when we went to Istanbul - and had some of the best meals of our lives. Favorites were Lades Menemen and Sehzade Cag Kebap!
Great to hear that, oh yah those are amazing places. More Istanbul videos coming!
Hey Mark! Great seeing you & Micah sharing a meal again! Turkey has such historical significance and the food is perfect for drinking lol. Each protein is seasoned well & the kabobs are always amazing paired with the fresh bread from the oven. I live around Turkish business owners & they always so kind, hardworking, and friendly people. I can consume that fish sandwich for lunch on a weekly basis for sure. I already know that I'm gonna enjoy this food tour!! Great to see you again Mark!! Happy Memorial Weekend!! Wishing you safe travels & blessings my friend!! Stay being phenomenal!! Cheers!! 🌯🥖🍻
Thank you so much, fully agree, so much seasoning and everything is flavorful. Have a great weekend as well!

Love Turkey! Loved seeibg Mark back here.
What an incredibly insightful and well-crafted video! The way you broke down the complexities of the topic into digestible segments was truly impressive. Here are some key moments that stood out:
[02:15] - Excellent introduction to the main concepts.
[07:45] - Great explanation of the practical applications.
[12:30] - Helpful tips and tricks for beginners.
[18:10] - Detailed analysis of advanced techniques.
[25:00] - Final thoughts and summary.
For anyone new to this subject, this video serves as an excellent guide. The visuals and explanations complement each other perfectly, making the learning process enjoyable and effective. I particularly appreciated how you included real-life examples to illustrate your points - it really helped to solidify my understanding.
Thank you for the effort and dedication you put into creating such high-quality content. I'm definitely subscribing for more videos like this. Keep up the fantastic work!
The Turkish cuisine is a fusion cuisine. It includes the elements of Middle Asia, East Europe, the Balkans, the Mediterranean Sea, Near East, and Middle East. Including the food and beverages, Turkish culture is one of the most influential cultures throughout the world. Cuisine, TV dramas, Turkish music, and all the touristical and historical places in the country are the "soft power" elements of Türkiye. A great history including the Ottoman Empire, and a great culture including traditional and modern elements... A very nice country... West and East are together... Just enjoy your time in Türkiye, and thank you very much for this video.
Why is Turkey so underestimated by Europe? their history and country are really interesting and exciting
We live in a euro centric world where every other culture is not considered but treated as second or third class
Turkey > Europe
Because Turkey is a fascist dictatorship constantly threatening Europe and undermining human rights and democracy, killing and genociding Kurds and Armenians lol. learn some history.
Yes also their Turkish shows!
Their culture is awesome but they are thinking that neighboring countries are their enemies.
Finally you came here!!! I especially love your Latin American videos. My boyfriend is from Peru and he has been wondering for a year when you would come to Istanbul. We love you!

Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Efes (Ephesus), Antalya (including its towns), Izmir, Bursa, Abant and Yedigöller, Eskişehir, and the Black Sea region are the most recommended places to visit in Türkiye. Besides the cultural tourism, sea tourism is also so advanced in this country. To swim and sunbathe, you should visit Türkiye, again. The seasides of Türkiye are really unforgettable.
