ooh this is good. I was listening to a video of Glen Gould playing all the Beethoven sonatas. Gould is the last person on earth you want interpreting Beethoven, even if it's interesting... Anyway, this is great, thank you!
@@taksyeung2 There have been very many great pianists, at least all those who have done a complete cycle, live and recorded, of the sonatas (minimum requirement). All different; why this goatish, competitive attitude; it's music not sport!

Not really. The greatest. No contest. Listen to Hammerklavier, his technique is rock solid and fluid, highlighting in intricacy the fugal themes with tremendous dexterity. Other so-called ones can't even come close, not to mention is repertoire.

Gould plays too fast simply because he can play fast, not because the music demands it. It becomes a jangle.
I rank richter as the best beethoven interpreter. the 2nd is glenn gould.

Quite a collection. Must take its place next to other great sets or partial sets of Beethoven sonatas. Good sound though a bit hard toned.
