This is what happens when the folks in Jinjer write a love song. If you guys want to check out a Jinjer song that's ALL cleans, check out "Bad Water" or "Beggar's Dance" (which isn't really a standalone song, but rather the wrap-up/bookend song of their _King of Everything_ album). If you want something on the opposite end of the spectrum, of course, there's "Ape" and pretty much anything off the _Cloud Factory_ album. Basically, whenever they're singing about how much humanity sucks and is trashing the planet, it's almost all harsh vocals. Makes sense, I think.
Glad you went back to Jinjer. The band is so tight and Tatiana’s vocal blow me away. The band grows on you with their mix of musical arrangements. Now you need to check out alive performance. Perennial live at Wacken is amazing.
Nice reaction you guys. Listen Jinjer isn't for everybody, but for me, they are literally the first band I instantly fell in love since the first time I heard the band Queensryche back in '83. I've been a metal head for over 40 years, and the first time I heard Jinjer, I was in awe. Funny thing is I never liked "growling" vocals when it came to metal music, male or female, but Tatiana is something special. I think I love her vocals because she switches it up between her aggressive "growls" and her beautiful natural singing voice. She said in an interview that if she wasn't a metal singer, she would love to be a jazz vocalist, and in my opinion, she could easily pull that off, that's how talented she is in my opinion. One last thing, Tati gets the most attention because of her incredible vocals, but the guys Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad (drums) although the drummer in this video is Dmitry Kim (the drummer before Vlad who is also an amazing drummer) are out of this world talented. They are just a phenomenal band. If you guys choose to react to more Jinjer, I think Ginger would love it, Mike maybe not so much only because Jinjer has some heavy music. I Speak Astronomy is actually one of their "softer" songs. But still in all, every Jinjer song is fantastic and hopefully you guys will still choose to react to some more of their songs. Peace and stay Metal. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶
Agree with you I ok with growls but super pickey very few guys I like even for it but I think women sound better overall but Amaranthe is pretty good and clean as well, same as Floor Jansen she got nice a pleasent growl real clean some open and kind of soft even.
She uses a technique that uses her false vocal folds to do her growls. I love watching her perform. Believe or not, Floor from Nightwish can also do growls. Watch Yours is an Empty Hope (th-cam.com/video/vyLsU7Q333k/w-d-xo.html).
Tatiana's clean vocal always knock me over. I'm with Mike, her growls are amazing, but don't do much for me, but those cleans, wow. Get that feel as well, Ginger. Definitely Rage Against The Machine vibes👍🏻👍🏻
When this song switches into the more tranquil section, I can't help but recognise the vibe/sound a bit. I think it reminds me of some prog rock band, but I just can't put my finger on which one. Perhaps King Crimson? Anyway, great song, one of my Jinjer favourites. Tatiana's said that it's about her search for a soulmate, which she felt exists in a parallel universe. I am new to Jinjer and haven't delved too deeply, but apart from the music itself I really like Tatiana's lyrics. The members also strike me as quite likable, with Tati having plenty of sass 😀 She seems to be a spiritual/philosophical person and nowadays have a tattoo on her throat of the Mesoamerican god known amongst the Aztecs as Quetzalcoatl - incidentally the god of the air, so the throat seems like a fitting place for it.
Fun fact: Tati kept the 'carbon-fibre-look' catsuit seen in the last third of the video, but she cut the legs up to make it a dress and wore it on stage for quite a few gigs: you can see it in some of the concert vids. Since Ginger likes well-produced videos, you should really watch the Judgement and Punishment official video next. The video for Teacher, Teacher is also good because, although it's 'just' a compilation of concert footage, it's really well put together with some canny editing, and it gives you a feel for what it's like at their gigs.
Ohhh, is that her dress with the flabby skirt?! I always thought thing looked cool. She wears it in the live video for I Speak Astronomy too (where she throws her hair around in the beginning), too bad the audio quality isn't that good on that one, but I still enjoy it for her stage performance.
Epic really is the rigth word! This is an epic journey. Musically, lyrically and visually. I think you would really like "Judgement & Punishment" One Take Vocal by Tatiana, it really showcases her skils and it´s a great song with an exquisite blend of reaggae perfectly executed. And also give a try on a live performance, they are even better. "Perennial" live at Wacken 2019 is a good one.
If you fancy a similar vibe but different band you might like Canadian band Spiritbox, Rule of Nine is my current fav. Both the official vid and the one take. Other tunes in no particular order:- Belcarra, Holy Roller, Blessed Be, Bleach Bath Perennial...
Mike, if the growling doesn't do it for you, try the video of Bad Water (there's an official video and a live version on TH-cam). In this song Tatiana only uses her clean voice.
Second comment but since you mentioned a rage against the machine vibe I can see that, and in general I think they have a 90s-early 2k vibe to their sound but at the same time they're very much a genre blending band who incorporates lots of sounds and styles into their music
To suit Mike's taste a bit more, there is one song of Jinjer completely without growling: 'Bad Water' It's a older song of them and one of the instrumentally softest in their repertoire. I recommend the official live version of it, but the off. music video will do as well.
You said something about this reminding you of Rage Against the Machine. Well they got another song (the name slips my mind) that has much similar RATM vibes. The intro and outro of this song reminds me of Opeth's song 'Deliverance', and I know Jinjer's bassist (Eugene) is a big fan of Opeth, so...
Thank you for uploading. I had the chance to view a rocket launch in 2018. Unbelievable experience. I uploaded a pretty cool montage of the journey to my channel.
If you plan to do Perennial (live at Wacken) which is suggested many times in the comments, PLEASE do a double feature (Perennial, official video + live). The Official music video is very beautiful, and the live performance is amazing! After that, I suggest a double feature on Judgement and Punishment (official video + Tatiana's one-take vocal performance). It's a reggae/metal song; you'd love it!
@@MikeandGinger yes! If you make a video of the live version for example, it's unlikely that you make another one for the official, so why not? Specially in cases where both versions are good!
I'm pushing really hard for two songs from Jinger than just don't get as much love as I don't think they should. Beggars dance is very short track but so groovy. Then they have another epic track that is Home Back
Really enjoyed your reaction to this song. Based on your reactions and comments, I would avoid some of their newer stuff, I don't think you'll enjoy it too much, as they sound nothing like this. Some of their songs that I think you would like, are: Bad Water, Retrospection, maybe even Exposed as a Liar.
If you do Judgement And Punishment, do the official video first before doing Tatianas ‘one take performance’. The video is awesome and then you can appreciate her one take more. I’ve no idea why people do it the other way around. Especially when it’s supposed to be a Jinjer reaction, not a Tatiana reaction.
super reaction. I would like to introduce you to a Korean singer. her back story. in one's twenties, she was diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer. Referencing "Event Horizon" made me laugh - when I saw this movie with a friend when we were sixteen I couldn't sleep all night.
Yup that movie was pretty disturbing

This is Jinjer in James Bond Theme mode.
