What's most impressive is that it doesn't have the robotic translation that most of them have. Also of note I really feel that the more languages that are available sometimes quality goes down. Especially on free apps. I'll be interested to see what your results are as you've mentioned in the field as I have discovered internet connections can pose a potential problem in some countries . Not cheap but it worth every dime if it works as seamlessly as your demonstration. Well done Erin
Looks nice, I’m frequent flyer. For me it’s in Asia that I would definitely need that thing. Korea, China, Japan... I’ll definitely take a closer look to that translator.
Great video. The first video I have found that simply explains the product without loads of stupid cartoon character, videos of people using it with no dialogue just the narrator telling you a load of STUFF like a babbling chipmunk. Your is the best and I thankyou because within 3 mins I decided to get one. Thanks.
My husband and I are moving to Mexico sometime this year I would like to purchase one of these, i notice your video is older what device do you suggest now? and I would like it to be two way where I can speak and then the person I'm talking to can speak into it in Spanish and that message back to me
I have read where it is supposed to have translation with at least semblance of accent. I did not here that hear. Also, can you use to translate off of internet videos, Zoom or Teams, video chat and/or Spanish TV shows (albeit 30 seconds at at time)? Thanks.
So I can have what somebody is telling me translated, when i reply to them do i press some button and talk into it in English so the pockettalk can translate for me?
Does it translate Spanish to English as well as English to Spanish? I'm wanting to know if it could possibly be used for international phone calls as well.
Here is the bigger question: what if I say something into Pocket Talk in English and it translates it into perfect Mandarin Chinese for the person opposite me to understand, (because one of the supported languages is Mandarin Chinese) and then that person replies back in Mandarin Chinese because THEY don’t speak English, can Pocket Talk automatically translate what they say in Mandarin Chinese into English? Or does that person have to have their own Pocket Talk device for us to enable a back to back conversation between an English speaking person and a Mandarin Chinese speaking person?
@@ErinLawrenceTV I did. Amazon sent me printable labels and refunded me as soon as UPS registered it for return. I purchased a different one (Langogo Genesis) and it works fine.
How can i get this device to voice translate in filipino. It will translate in text but not in voice. I tryed to connect to wifi and update the system but it wont allow me to connect to wifi, I keep getting the message check password and tryagain. any help out there? I have done all the right things but not getting the results I want.
Hi Erin, As always, interesting and informative. Question: I am from South of the border (in the US). Will this device translate Canadian English into US English??
Yeah I bought something similar and tried it with my Japanese bf at the time (now hubby) and it was so-so. Google Translate in the phone was just as good. But if you keep the sentences short and simple then its fine. In Japan, most use Google Translate or the translation in LINE APP. But I saw Japanese airport are using these now so maybe they improved.
I bought one (old version) for my trip to Japan and it simply works. 👍🏻
Glad to hear!
I do plan to purchase this product, but I wanted to see some comments first. You are by far, the very best. Gracias!
Thank you so much for the compliment
At last! A translator device review, not an advertisement. Kudos to you Erin! How well does it do with English to Japanese and vice versa?

I have to translate Swahili , works great! The people in Dar es salaam find it funny.
This would be helpful for me and my ELL students.
How do you think it compares with the totally free (only needs your smartphone) Google Translate app?
Hola es un buen aparato para realizar trabajos en internet en tiempo real?

I feel like a phone app would work better for those moving to a foreign country but for travelers this would be perfect.
Im moving to South America from the uk and thats an amazing idea. Lets hope they think of that
want one! im horrid with languages.
What A COOL device! That could really keep you out of trouble or help you find some 😉
Looks like it will be very useful. A little pricey though
It is! Thanks for watching, KEn.
Can you turn the audio off so you say the translation yourself?
Thanks for the informative review. Looks like a good device, but it’s quite expensive and I wonder if mobile phones can do a similar job.
Thanks for the compliment Noel!
@@ErinLawrenceTV can mobile phones do a similar job then ?

Is this useful for international students?
I think so!
Thank you so much for this review.

HOw much is the tramslator? There are two models. What is the cost of the two year support package?
This is the Pocket talk plus version right? There are 3 versions
So, can it operate just on its own witout any sort of internet connection nor cloud whatsoever?
Is it possible to work w it with the volume down and just read the translation ?
Hi Erin- Thanks for the video. Can you explain what the "Role Play" feature is?
Why should i get this when I have my phone google translator?
You probably should not… This is for all the other folks who don’t yet have a good translation program available on their smart phones.😉
So I can have what somebody is telling me translated, when i reply to them do i press some button and talk into it in English so the pockettalk can translate for me?
Yes exactly
Which pocket talk is this what model looking for one that can do all this
Can you slow down the translation? The translation speaks fast to try and learn the translation.
Hmmm.. I don't think so...
Does it translate Spanish to English as well as English to Spanish? I'm wanting to know if it could possibly be used for international phone calls as well.
Yes.

💩. Good thing it should be returnable?
@@ErinLawrenceTV I did. Amazon sent me printable labels and refunded me as soon as UPS registered it for return. I purchased a different one (Langogo Genesis) and it works fine.
Is this like Google lens?

It looks very interesting. Could you read a book with it, albeit slowly?
No, there’s no software on here that would allow you to read e-books
Hi Erin, As always, interesting and informative. Question: I am from South of the border (in the US). Will this device translate Canadian English into US English??
