Nesting would be so fun! it would bring lots more interaction for people. something thay would also be nice if certain dinos could only nest in certain areas of the map to make it more diverse and spread out that way no one is in one area.

I think AI dinosaurs would be great for those who just want to do a solo experience. Playing with friends is great but sometimes I like to challenge myself with solo play.
Right?? The only time it feels like an actual dinosaur game is while trying to live the 50 mins+ for the last little purple sliver to turn yellow. Time it sometime. It still didn't change before I said, screw this, and went back to the home cave.
Thus could tie into AI too with AI babies in single player as well as AI mates Plus with multi and community servers AI could be done too with either player x player or player x AI or AI x AI
I really wish there was passive growth even if it was very little growth cuz sometimes it takes forever just to get somewhere you can quest especially with the slower Dino’s but if they don’t want to add passive growth I at least would like to get slightly more growth per quest
I strongly believe that nesting should be a core mechanic. I've expressed this before but yea. It should be the core of the game, not just another mechanic to tick off. It is literally the only logical thing to build a game around yet none of them is doing it.
Imagine if they countered mix packers buy making it where if a herb stays to close to a carnivore they will get bloodlust and just attack uncontrollably or make it if they attack the same target within like 2 minutes it triggers bloodlust
I get the idea but forcing control away from the player is not a good approach to this. I think a neat a neat idea would be to have a rival species system where certain species gain a debuff if they stay too close for too long to certain other species. For example the eo and rex would be rival species so if they stay too close for too long they would suffer significant debuffs like greatly reduced armor or attack.
I like your idea for the nest vision for smaller dinosaurs, but that would Segway into scent and the devs have unfortunately said that's not officially coming to the game.
To avoid the killing hatchlings when they hatch is if your the parent you will be unable to attack the baby until theit adult so and their species will be able to take the hatchling and protect it when the parent dies

Yes they could at least make a generic nest for all species and they can make it like a spawn point and on the select the dinosaur menu they can add a feature called open nest so they can see the dinos nesting and the parents stats and how many free slots they have
I feel like mix-packing might be affected by this, mix-packers will have to go out of their way to go through home caves to mix pack and will stand out compared to everyone else who will be nesting, they will become suspects and will likely be avoided and mix packs will began to fail at working, hopefully.

The lag problem is too inconsistent to worry about 200 slots yet, they should worry about nesting and lag before bigger servers. Beasts of Bermuda gives extra stats and random looking skins, not sure how they could implement something like that obviously not the stats as we dont level up like BoB wouldn'tmake sense.
I think skins should be inherited, you randomly get one of your parents skins. The person nested in might not even like the skin they get, so they will want to unlock another. Plus they have to quest anyways for abilities! Also there’s a nest already in the game (without eggs) in a cave by young grove!
An idea I've had is "skin combos" where you get the skin one parent, but the colors of the other. This new skin would replace your defualt skin, allowing a way to farm for "custom" skins not found on wild spawn dinos.
@Konfektionery The main issue here is the one creature of a type per server restriction on Officials and such. You'd need to delete your old hatchling to hunt for a new nesting skin.

Main concern for me is those campers who may “hatch a baby” and then end up killing them for the heck of it.. maybe developers can turn on friendly fire for the first couple stages? Hatchling & juvenile.. let’s be honest even adolescent can be nice what damage can they do?

It would be nice to inherit the parent's skin for your initial baby skin. You just couldn't keep it. How would aquatics work? Some archosaurs gave live birth like icthyosaurus.
I think it would be cool if we are baby of some other player, we have the skins that our parents use, since the game doesn't have a skin mixing system. Ex: albino and melanistic parents (the baby has both skins unlocked)

Nesting sounds interesting, but I am worried that it's going to end up being a feature that gets used to troll and grief other players a lot. Just imagine all the pachys camping nest sites and charging hatchlings the moment they are hatched.
They should make a modded server that is more realistic where Sauropods like irl have hundreds of babies and carnivores gorge on the babies and the babies try to grow up as fast as possible.

Omg this would definitely encourage people to not flock hot spots and actually find places around the map to nest their young. They should also have a feature where it gives you a warning on where you would nest, for instance in gp it shouldn’t be a good nesting area since there are a lot of carnivore around that map specifically to just fight and hunt. And also impact Crater !!
Certain Dino’s should have to have specific habitat to nest in. Struthi’s or raptors in rocky forest. Spinos and at a bog, megs near a river or dense scrub growth, the list goes on. This would force folks to spread out.
I think the nest should only have the mechanic to invite real players into their nest as a hatchling. Cause AI nesting and hatching AI dinosaurs would just bring chaos.

Communal nests would be cool, I like the idea of groups of parents sharing the responsibility :) but people will probably find a way to ruin it :/

I think best way is that when nesting if you want to create a nest near by you have to be the same species (you can be a different sub species still)
Nesting will bring a little bit more realism to the game and will add a whole new world of possibilitys for herbivore players in realism servers

Protecting a nest of AI babies from other aggressive AI dinos in single player would be a lot of fun!
The baby’s should get passive growth when with there parents. Maybe something like 2 bars an hour

Raiding a next should give u temporary perks or boosts like a health perk or boost to make raiding nests more attractive for players

I would love to see instead of AI hatching from your egg, while your eggs are gestating, AI predators will attack your nest and try to steal your eggs
