Some stayed and became the modern cape verdeans who mixed with the portugese, and some went on to be in the americas. It was the very first station of the transatlantic slave trade. Funnily enough all the hurricanes that terrorize the south of the USA, the carribean, and latin america generate in cape Verde and make its way over here, turn into tropical storms and some times hurricanes.

For my part i'm Creole from Mauritius now living in Australia. Some people in my community in Mauritius look exactly like them just like many also have fair skin with straight hair ! No offense but i doubt myself & my sister would "blend into" the crowd in Cape Verde though.

I was born in portugal, second generation of Parents from Cabo Verde born in portugal. My dad took us there when I was 6 years old, 1996. I don’t remember a thing. I watch your video and I’m familiar with everything, as in we have a big community back in portugal and I grew up within the culture, the language, food etc. however watching this video gives me goosebumps as I would like to go see for myself my origins. Is such a shame I haven’t gone back since as everyone I know tells me how good Cabo Verde is. Need to go back soon. Btw love your videos very detailed😊

Am Nigerian and have visited Praia the capital of Cape Verde twice 2023 and 2024, is peaceful out there. I stay close to the centre police headquarters where pestana hotel was. Am a lover of peace and was peaceful though was never out late night and looking forward to visit Sal island in Cape verde unfortunately lot don't speak English but manage to communicate using translator. Hopefully Sal island speaks more of English

We use to say that if you want party, you come here!! Literally every week end there is somewhere or a party to go, and it lasts for almost the entire year. Specially on summer holidays!!

There is no significant Islamic culture in Cape Verde other than the Guinean and Senegalese traders who come to the country as immigrants.
