Dennis Mitchell was flying😱😱
You got that right! We used to say he's running like he stole something!😄
He burned holes in the track. What a leg he ran.
Omg yessss😱😱😱
He ate their lunch on that curve.
What was his split?
This was the cleanest 4x100 I’ve ever seen!
Agreed! The only one that comes close is that women’s world record 4 x 100 relay in London 2012. Carl Lewis caught the baton and moved it to his right hand in one motion faster & smoother than anyone I’ve ever seen. I’ve always loved this race!
Clean with Dennis Mitchell ironic
@@doctorbonzo5457 yes but Carl Lewis was a cheat he has admitted to drug taking all drug cheats should be fucked out of athletics
But the athletes weren't clean
@@kivdonbull9398 but the athletes weren't clean
The lack of egos back then is such a nice thing. Truly and humbly represented our USA. The pride of America right there. Awesome
Carl Lewis was an INCREDIBLE sprinter. I mean his execution has always been impeccable.
Hi
Davidson Ezinwa from Nigeria was big and ran so well🔥
D Mitchell smoked the curve and cheered the squad on! Awesome
He was at near top speed when he got the baton from Burrell, that helped him explode into the turn.
his cheering was my favorite part of this race. I keep replaying that part.
Dennis, MJ, Calvin Smith for the men
Cheeseborogh, Inger Miller, Prandini for the women
Give straight up CLINICS on turn running EVERY TIME hands down!!
Very impressive result. The time would have taken gold in 2021 in spite of all the progress made in the last 30 years in sprinting.
Dennis Mitchell ran with such fury. You talk about a guy who looks fast, there it is.
Yep, I was in the stadium for this (in fact all the T&F events). Fantastic evenings, and great to see legends in the flesh. Elsewhere Quincy Watts was the star of the program in the 400m & relay.
Still brings a tear to my eye, awesome.
Same here, I had this recorded on VHS back in ‘92 and have probably seen this 200 times. Not an exaggeration.
Dennis Mitchell was so pumped he nearly chased Carl Lewis to the finish line. Lol
So happy for the Nigerians. Their women's team came third, and there's a video of them jumping and jumping and jumping for joy!
Thanks. We didn't really consolidate on what we achieved in the 90s. However, our time (no pun intended) will come eventually.
@@TopeA8 Sure hope it does, you deserve every success. Wishing you strength, luck and the perfect atmosphere to thrive! Love always.
These quartet has wings on their feet and they' re all flying✈️amazing WR.
Truly a beautiful race, Dennis Mitchell was getting around that curve and Carl Lewis was moving out great race gentlemen
Are you deluded Mitchell and Lewis were known drug cheats. Mitchell got caught Lewis was a filthy drug taker who got away despite getting caught numerous times.
Awesome! I'm still smiling in 2023
listening to OJ and now he's gone.
Dennis Mitchell gestures after hand off to Carl Lewis keep me watching over &over again.
That's why I keep watching, ❤ Dennis motivating/egging Carl on.
Dennis Mitchell 3rd leg was no joke in this race !
His Zurich 91turn is what set the WR for them
UNREAL
Same like English Gardner at the Rio Olympics
Yasssss! That was amazing! The excitement that Mitchell had when the pass was successful and Lewis is just absolutely phenomenal! No one could even catch Lewis. This team set a new world and olympic record.
The excitement of Dennis Mitchell after passing the button. I love the way he uses his hands to communicate.
After missing the team in the 100m Lewis ran his best anchor leg of his career in Barcelona. I guess he wanted to prove he still had it.
WOW!, that was awesome....even 28 years later....
I myself I see Carl Lewis as the best runner of all time his running composure like a horse knees high beautiful running composure and I yet to see that only in Carl Lewis
LMAO. You mean one of the biggest drug cheats of all time.
And there was me thinking the best runner of all times should be the individual who ran the fastest of all times…..alas I stand corrected.
@@sheriffsaliu9872 I don’t believe that for one minute I never heard of Carl Lewis doping he is in history and no one can take that from him
@@markrobinson3523 If youtube permitted me to send links, I would include it in the chat, but you can google Carl Lewis Doping and see results from reputable sites like Reuters, theGuardian, etc. Infact the race Ben Johnson won, 6 of the 8 runners all failed drugs tests. The US helped to cover it up. It is known as the dirtiest race in history.
Come on now wake up is Usain Bolt no questions
Always my fav sprinter. King Carl Lewis
Dennis Mitchell 🔥🔥🔥
I love his celebratory antics when he passes the baton to Carl Lewis.
glorious Nigeria, the third anchor for Nigeria late kayode oluyemi, was my class mate and roommate in secondary school,1982- 1984, may is soul rest in peace ( amen)
So good to rewatch these old races like it just happened.
World record is now 36.84 in 2023 (set in 2012 by Jamaica with Usain Bolt as the anchor).
Chills and more chills all these years later! 2020 Olympics brings me back here to see Carl and team dominate!❤️
Lewis was a very smooth runner.
Did anyone notice the space the Nigerian anchor covered to make silver???
He was terrific!!
The baton pass was also swift
Stunning!!
Davidson Ezinwa.
We are Nigeria you can't do without seeing us . Naija always strong
Something that was never mentioned but Tom Hammond or OJ, this same group, Marsh, Burrell, Mitchell and Lewis ran the previous World Record of 37.67 in Zurich, August 1991. That was about 2-3 weeks before they replaced Marsh with Andre Cason at the 1991 Worlds, where the set the new record of 37.50, September 1, 1991 in Tokyo.
So, that really was O.J.
Yes, OJ commentated on sprint events at the 1976, 1984 and 1992 Olympics. OJ was an outstanding track athlete while at USC, even part of a world record relay team.
@helpinghal a record that will probably never be broken
Andre Cason was a great sprinter, but he never took the spotlight from Carl.
I wish they still explained it like this on TV.
Wow that 3rd leg and ⚓️ anchor Lewis was flying. I've never seen CL 🏃♂️ run.
Goosebumps
I love to watch Carl tear up the tracks..this relay exchange and speed was beautiful
Oh snap Carl Lewis! Damn this is a throwback lol
Dennis turned the jets on big time!
Gotta love Leroy Burrell.
Two world record holders in one team. Later USA had it again I think with Green and Montgomery in one team. The best every was of course Asafa and Bolt in the same team.
3rd LEG WAS SUPER MEGA FAST.
the best 4x100 relay team of alltime 100%
No you will find that's Jamaica who are wr holders not usa
Wrong ! Jamaica is the best 4x100 relay team. They not only hold the world record but also the 2nd best all-time result.
"Carl Lewis, in his final olympic games". Wrong.
That was an incredible race! If I remember correctly, but Carl ran an 8.8 on his leg. April 2023.
I checked twice
8.7!!!!
Olympics should be done every two years so we can watch the best at the youth and not when they are old.
Yesssss
Its too much planning and building of Stadiums, and what's not involved, very big undertaking
HAHA. Thanks again dude. I wish had easy access to this as you.
92 team was flying 🏆🏆🏆🏆
This is still the fastest anchor leg race in 4x 100 meters. Carl Lewis ran 8,65 seconds the last 100 meters. He was so incredibly much faster than Linford christie. What a shame he was sick at the US trials for 100 meters and therefore could not race in Barcelona. He would have very easily beaten Linford Christie. Linford Christie knew this and therefore cowardly did not compete at the biggest event of the year after the Olympics. The 100 meter at The Wealt classe in Zürich. A race Carl Lewis easily won.
Mr Lewis is 1 of the most focus and calculated athletic participant I've seeing in the sport . Respect .
Carl a class act. Took the time acknowledge an injury opened the spot for him.
Doped to the eyeballs as well
Bitter soul @@user-ts9mk3vm3x
Thanks for including the pre and post race footage! Any chance you have the women’s 4x400 from Barcelona ‘92?
YES!!! that was MAGNIFICENT 😊
@@bremymarie oiiiiiiiiiiiii
The Nigerian Team all the way...Africa has always been clean back then...
One of the best races
they were the absolute best
Carl Lewis wasn’t quite finished with the Olympics, despite what the announcer said. 😂
AWESOME - THEY WERE SMOKIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Dennis Mitchell was moving on that third leg.
as italian, I enjoyed a lot the introduction service before the race 👍👍
in Italy, TVs are not used to trait track & field like that
amazing what 3 good exchanges can do.
Carl Lewis looking like Jermaine Jackson!!😀😀
Does, doesn't he, lololololol
He does...lol
I respect Bolt, but Carl is the absolute best tract man ever.
Today they have advanced shoes, a superior track, and other advantages.
And those shorts were flapping in the wind.
@@judrayton and something else lol
Carl had a better technique for sure!
Still wouldn't have got near bolt unless he took extra drugs and was only 8m behind
Flo jo now that was one superstar that the jamaican s wouldn't have got near with the shoes and tracks
Naija no drug , no tricks, we are so pure and too strong
I like this man... Idola
In hindsight, 1992 U.S. Basketball team were NOT the Only Barcelona "Dream Team!"...Hats Off to ALL!
Team USA: Be humble in your interviews
Burrell: I’ve been on 8 or 9 WR’s I don’t even know
I feel for the Cuban team!!! they got the last exchange in first place, but painfully, they did not have a stronger closer. It is sad, though. A well deserved 3rd place nobody expected!!!
Mr Dennis Mitchell, serious gears.
In one of the replays, leywis stepped out of his lane.
Calvin Smith was the best 3rd leg runner I've ever seen, but Dennis Mitchell was cooking with gas. Mitchell was also a great 1st leg.
thank you for uploading this video any chance you have the 100m US 1992 Olympic men's trials
DENNIS MITCHELL was the fastest Sprinter ever.
The Juice doing the commentary!! Then two years later...................
That was great.
Classic moments
OJ doing this commentary!!! Lmao
I Love my US Sprint teams ❤
Carl Lewis & Michael Johnson 2 US Goats!☺Love USA!!!!!!😄😄😄😄😄
This was a global final and the commentators managed to go through the entire thing with barely a mention of the other seven teams involved. You'd be forgiven for thinking nobody else was competing. Utterly bizarre way to present a track and field broadcast.
that's America (NBC) for ya.
You would think it was only the Americans in the Race, NBC never disappoint
The Nigerian 3rd leg runner and the anchor leg are goated.
Also, add this one to the list of Tom Hammond's great calls.
He's underrated.
Who is that with him? Sounds frighteningly like O.J. Simpson, two years before his L.A. Bronco ride to glory.
They were so fast ass brothers and set a new world record congratulations men and USA 🇺🇸.37.40.
9:40 Carl is so quirky. He wastes time changing hands and then starts talking. He's saying "yes, yes" Running is secondary.
This is the track glory of USA, Carl Lewis, Leroy Burrell, .Mike Marsh and Dennis
Mitchell.
France set the world record before this. But one of them tried the individual 100m and pulled the muscle, just like Derek Redmond in the 400m.
I came my boys, the Nigerians. I'm proud.
Before Bolt....and l love Justin Gatlin....but before Bolt was Carl Lewis!
Lewis admitted taking performance enhancing drugs nothing but another American cheat like Gatlin and Tyson all for the mighty cheating us of a
Thank God we have bolt who was always fun to watch
Carl wasn't a good sport man. Always beefing when someone ran past him
@@tofemsagrovetandchicks1817yes bolt finished with a big bust.
Never mention a word about the other teams. Wow.
Juice was right about Carl Lewis, as far as when Carl gets the batton, he switches it and he said he is one of the few anchors that do that....what's Interesting, you have to really look to see him switch it. Love this race.
Those two UH alumni
Yes indeed, Great and fun times at U of H during the 80's,
The king.
American coverage is so different to bbc. They don’t talk about anyone but America there is no discussion about anything
i would have bet good money that lewis would have medaled at the 1992 indiv 100m or even won. he peaked at the games and not the trial
Those Guys are fast and furious.
Dennis on that 3rd leg tho
Dennis Mitchell may have been the fastest human ever in this sprint!!! Jesus Christ he was FLYING
At the time, many considered Dennis the greatest third leg in history. He could run that turn
I'm 57, as we would say back in the 70's ' Dennis Mitchell was hauling ass man '..lol
Ran that curve.
This is incredible, also point to note is the US problem of Baton passing existed during Carl Lewis' days not a current misfortune as i've been believing.
But regardless of one or two times back then, our Sprint team medal count (from 100 thru 400 x 2, with the women) was decisive back then. We'd bag 10 of the 18-20 sprint gold every time. We got TWO this time, with similar results going back to 2004. Something has changed.
USA men and women are good tracks teams they have good runners 🏃♀️
Dennis Mitchell. Holy shit.
OJ on the mic. Lol
Is that Dick Emberg calling that? He did a great job with it and loved his words, "What about the world record?"
Tom Hammond
What a shame Carl Lewis was sick st the trials for 100 meters. He would have very easily have beaten Linford Christie in the 100 meters in Barcelona 1992. Did you see How incredibly much faster he was than Christie at the anchor leg. No wonder Linford Christie was such a coward he did not dare meet Carl Lewis at the biggest event of the year the Welt Classe in Zürich. A race Carl Lewis easily won ( The 100 meter at Welt Classe in Zürich.)
