Originally released by Play Digital/Play Records in October 2006, Faxing Berlin built upon deadmau5’s shift into the progressive house genre displayed in his Full Circle EP and went on to become a landmark track in his career. It eventually reached #6 on Billboard’s US Dance Club charts.

This song is highly emotional to me for some reason. Maybe thats why I like it. The tunes really help with self reflection, in an almost meditative fashion. I can totally picture myself driving on late night empty streets in Japan or something.

You feel peaceful yet empty at the same time while this song plays on repeat forever....

Totally True Bro! I saw DeadMau5 for the first time back in 2006 Together As One Festival in Los Angeles! He played Faxing Berlin and Longest Road Remix!
Rave scene where? NY, NJ, Philly rave scene was beat by that time. Like 05 was when it just wasn't holding up anymore. So we just started doing techno clubs in Manhattan and hit Detroit for Movement a few times.
The Rave Scene happened in 1989-1991.

@@spenserjoseph8732 2008 was the beginning of the evolution of music into the current era in my opinion. More intense beats were becoming popular and electronic music was really starting to gain acceleration. This probably seemed like a step backwards but was really far ahead of it's time

In 2000, he made a song with Derek Caesar on vinyl called I Don't Want No Other (along with its B-side called Suck This). He also made a couple tracks between 1998 and 2002, some of which were featured on his first album Get Scraped, which was released in 2005 and at that time he wasn't really that famous. The next year he released Vexillology, but he still wasn't that popular. He became popular the year after that, when The Reward is Cheese and other tracks known till today were released. And, Faxing Berlin was produced the same year when Vexillology was released, but included on his 2008 breakout album called Random Album Title. So, it took him just 12 years to become famous! (1995-2007)

This song evokes in me a memory of an event I know I've never experienced... in THIS life at least... It's a very simple memory, and a simple but immensely pleasant feeling accompanies it... Joy.
I'm sat at a table outside a cafe. Somewhere in Europe, it feels like. The street is light grey and cobbled. The weather is somewhat overcast but warm and comfortable. I'm with two friends. One a man. The other a woman. We are dressed smartly, but not overly formally. We are drinking fresh hot coffee from small-ish white cups which came with saucers. We're chit-chatting. I'm not sure what about, though. But there are smiles aplenty and a generous smattering of genuine, heartfelt laughter. Trust, comfort, security and love are in plentiful supply here. I'm happy... And I know it. My eyes start to well up as I consider the notion that moments like this, shared with loved ones, don't get to last forever. I blink away the tears and bat away the notion in order to return to the conversation. I don't think they noticed. It was just one of those quite touching moments of sheer appreciation, gratitude, humility. In a sort of meta way, I appreciate the appreciation. And, further still, in a sort of doubly meta way, I remark on the joy present at being complex and capable enough to appreciate being able to appreciate.

Loved listening to it while driving on an empty freeway in the very early morning while going to work. 6 years later, moved to Berlin for 7 years. 7 intense years where I lived so many lives, lived the best and the worst. I wouldn't throw anything away. Now the Berlin years are over, but the memories stay. Will never forget the love, the passion, the people I met, the incredible energy.... sweet melancholy

Everything about this track (except from the mastering which 18 years ago was not just about loudness) is so timeless it could have been uploaded to Ourgrnd today. This is the thing about geniuses like him, not the brand, the marketing or the hooks....just how timeless it is......not a single sound feels dated, not a single chord feels old.

Tuesdays were once reserved for preparing sermons for Sundays at coffee shops. All day long. Just me, God's Word, commentaries, Pandora, and Skull Candy headphones. One day this song hits the Pandora station I was listening to. It absolutely made me stop all I was doing. I had never heard this song, or DeadMous5, before and yet, it caused a rush of memories to come storming back. I just sat there, staring. I listened to it again and again and again. It became a staple song of my sermon prep. God transitioned me to the corporate world, but every time I hear this song, I reminisce about those coffee shop days and all the memories that go along with it. Timeless.
