Update: I just noticed something-the audio used in Ashland is the same as the sound effects in the background of the Polebending apocalypse race. Just thought that was interesting ;) Update 2: the same audio also plays at Scarecrow Hill! Update 3: SPOILERS AHEAD!! This is probably the most significant development since I released this documentary! For the new main story quest, you have to find the dark rider Erissa's dolls throughout Jorvik. SSO stated that "Each doll is hidden in a location that's important in our epic quest to defeat Garnok." And one of them is...The Ashen Steep, literally right in front of the blocked entrance to Ashland. The doll even walks through the barrier into Ashland when you click on it. And Ashland hasn't been important to defeating Garnok...YET. Idk what else to say but, AAAH THIS MAKES ME SO EXCITED XD Update 4: In one of the main story quests you have to spread ash from Ashland around the life warden tree to help it grow, meaning it has magical properties possibly. And the witch Pi is the one who supplies it, meaning she has probably been to Ashland. Update 5: I just found out through Reddit that before it was remodeled, Elizabeth’s house looked exactly like the one in Ashland. So I guess that was just the model they used for cottages back then? Was it the model for Druid cottages? And what does that mean for who the owner of the Ashland cottage was/is? Or…maybe it doesn’t mean anything at all. And this was years ago, I did some digging and found pictures of it from 2014, way back when Dino Valley was released. Update 6: In season 1 of the champion ranks, for 180 points, the Jorvik Crimson Ribbon's description reads: A ribbon the shade of scorched Ashlands soil. Update 7: the Ashland audio is originally from Starshine Legacy. Idk why I didn’t notice this before.
They'll definitely release it before the main storyline ends. I can easily imagine Mr.Sands trying to summon Garnok there and we the player and the soul riders will have to stop him, while fighting with the dark riders
Update time! In the most recent update, a little teaser at the bottom read “the soul riders are getting ready for war”, which could mean the soul riders and dark core fighting. Which, could match up with your theory, especially because one of erissa’s dolls was found right next to Ashland. I guess we will have to wait and see!
But it will scare the poor children and give them nightmares and require therapy for them to heal from the trauma of someonething mildy upsetting in a horse game
i do believe them when they say it was just a placeholder never to be released, BUT just in a state that it's been since 2014 when it was added along dino. I remember Abigail Pineheaven suggesting the volcano looked like it was for a cutscene and it does feel like it honestly. Overall Ashland looks and feels unfinished, at least to me, but i have a feeling they left the volcano without any collision specifically for curious players to go and explore deeper. Otherwise i just can't imagine a scenario where you'd go inside a volcano with your horse, sounds pretty wild even by star stable's standards😂
I’ve been thinking of Ashland so much and hoping to find out more about it. I’m so glad that finally someone made a recent video on it! I really hope SSO releases it soon.

While yes they're sort of close, you also have to take into consideration with how the battle may play through. We know that SSO's "boss" battles require a huge field where the horse can round around and reach circles on the ground or whatever, right? Well the everwind fields and ashlands have a large terrain PERFECT for that. But the problem with my theory is that if it goes from point A to point B, how exactly will that work? We would have to pass through the hollow woods and valedale village and those places aren't really perfect from boss battles (at least in my opinion). And also I highly doubt SSO is advanced enough to have the center of the boss battle move from it's original place. Also considering Garnok is a huge octopus like Cthulu so I doubt they'd make him move places during a fight. So while my theory isn't really logical, maybe SSO will be advanced enough for that but it's a kids game so I doubt they'd make something complicated. And I LOOOOVE making theories so whenever I see videos like this it makes me so happy. Also it's cool to see you watch Eleanor too :D But yeah for sureeee everwind fields and ashland has to be correlated somehow, even if it may be hard to manage. I know main quests aren't the focus that much nowadays but I'm really excited to see what the future holds. One theory I also saw though is that the fridge doors could be bunkers? I'm not sure but I'll look more into it. (I'm gonna go on a theory making spree LOL) I hope you have a nice day/night/morning/evening/etc! Thank you for reading and you're welcome for writing everything! Maybe I'll update this in the future if I find anything new :P

Omg I'd appreciate it so much if you can give me the link, thank you so much for updating me about this! I'll be sure to look into it as soon as possible. And you're welcome! :D
Oh my gosh, the original look of Ashland was SO creepy. Those twisted ashen/rocky formations looked genuinely disturbing. o.O And yes, I noticed the reference to Ashland at the Birthday Festival 2023 and it's indeed curious how relatively often, and consistently, SSO seems to be teasing Ashland. My guess is that in the future, Ashland will be fully updated and SSO will intertwine the main story (or at least one of the side stories) with Ashland, so that we have a reason to go there. But I very highly doubt this will happen anytime within the following 5 years. Anyway, perfectly created documentary, thank you very much for this detailed video! 👏
Thank you so much! Your compliments mean so much to me omg 🫶🏻 And I agree with you about the original Ashland-when SSO does release Ashland I hope they bring back some of those old elements :)
that would be so great because both places hold SO MUCH LORE - though i would also be scared for the same reason lol because i didn't love all of the recent quests.. (but i have hope after the Hollow Woods update that atleast the graphics will be good!)
I was hoping that the Hollow Woods update would've revamped the buildings/stables, similar to silverglade village, with more of a cottage core feel, and maybe more paths for trails similar to firgrove or redwoods, but im okay with its update, just wish the wisps and fireflies were a different color other than green so i don't get thrown off during races/champs xD@@katkacapkova5393
Hm.. Well, it has been 3 years since we got wildwoods, so a new area would make sense, quite frankly. I think we're due for a brand new location to open up for us to explore. But I feel like Ashland would be more.. Main line, rather than side story like wildwoods was. Wildwoods was also a HUGE area too..
i dont know if anyone remembers, but they actually released a picture of the house (in supposed ashland) and some guy with a hood on the news but Ive searched for that article even 4-5 yrs ago it was deleated. i dont even remember what it was about but it just mentioned ashland. Id LOVE to hear if anyone else saw that news article
WOW. I’ve never heard about that article, that’s so interesting! A guy with a hood…maybe Ashland has something to do with Evergray? Let me know if you find the article!
the guy didnt look like evergray, it looked more like nic stoneground, but i dont remember, i was very young. I doubt anyone could find the article as it was most definitely deleted :(@@RosemaryClearbell
I do think Ashland will be part of the main story progression as I think freeing Garnok is the main goal of Dark Core & the Dark Riders, but I think SSO wasn't able to progress with the main story enough. So I think it was added, and the main story is planned far ahead, just not executed, which is honestly quite the shame. Edit: I dont think it is a placeholder, not many of the objects/textures were used anywhere else.
love this video, ashland is even more interesting now than it was! also i think the "twisty rock formations" were actually dead (?) trees because they added leaves on the ground which had nowhere to blow in from as Ashland is surrounded by mountains except for the entrance into Dino valley - where no leaves ever grow. unless they didn't really think about it as much. since it's an unreleased area they might've just slapped a randomish texture just for uhh fun? on the ground, then i would lean toward either the dead trees or rocks. because i feel like rocks, boulders even would definitely belong in a tiny area surrounded by mountains with chipped off rock having nowhere else to go but the valley (ashland) if anyone read this, thanks! sorry about the incoherence, messy paragraphs, and ranting 😅(i don't know sso-interested people, so i just dump all my thoughts in comment sections oops)
To be honest it seems like sso doesn't even know it's own lore anymore. The last few years all they seem to care about is making money and that only happens through creating new horses and getting players to buy them. Unfortunately storylines and quests don't sell. That's probaly why they don't develop their storyline and sub storylines that often anymore. Ashland seems to have been created with the idea to open it once they developed Dino valley more. But ever since the release of the hidden valley notthing has happened to it. They did nothing with all the mysterious like the Icengate, the Ice witch, the Kallters, the Yeti etc. Dino valley could possibly have had the best storyline in the game if the old team/ the new team now did something with the area and the storyline. But like it's mysterious Dino valley has up till today remained a total mystery that hasn't been discovered to it's fullest. It's a shame because I have waited all these years untill Star stable continued the mysterious storyline around the valley of snow.
New player here, and I actually agree. I already watched videos of the game's lore before, and that's what actually got me interested in playing. However, as I went further into the story, I felt like it's not even the same story after a while 😭 After we get to Fort Maria I lost all my interests in the main story, I no longer count SSO canon anymore.
@ThatLocalBit I know how you feel. Since the new management came on somewhere in 2018/2019 the game went downhill. It was somewhere in 2018 that the new management of SSO who didn't know the game at all decided to make massive changes like more horse breeds per year to release, more expensive stuff to buy and persuading players to only buy things and not give actual content and gameplay. Things we paid for and have a right to ask for. It's really sad that gameplay isn't a priority of SSO anymore. While so many players created a account for that aspect.
I went there recently with some people from my ex club of 3 clubs and i found it really interesting, why? Like why was it made, why is there a house?, why is there a volcano? Is it still going to be used in the future? What was it originally going to be used for? I do hope it come out soon, because that would be fun! Also, really good video, discriptive and sound like a documentary, which i guess it is. ❤
good job on this video!! keep making quality content like this and i bet youll get thousands. especially these documentary videos, i especially love them lol. new sub!
As much as I hope Ashland will open someday, I’m not sure sso will actually do it. I’ve seen some people say that apparently parents were complaining about it being too scary for their children and sso abandoned it cause of that but I’m not so sure about that
i noticed recently when i explored the road to ashland that there is no longer a notification when you walk towards it and now the road is renamed. maybe something is coming soon?
Thank so much for making this video! it was so interesting to watch, you did an amazing job with it. I have a theory/update I wanted too share with you. In Fort Maria there is a painting with a volcano in the back ground. I talk about it in a video I made, but didn't focus on it. I thought you might like to ad it in to this somehow or you might be able to make a short about it. anyways the paining is located in the Grand Hall. I am thinking the painting is what Ashland looked like before the volcano erupted.
@@BamBam-b3m first of all thank you for the compliment!! it means a lot 💕 and that’s funny you mention the paintings in fort Maria because I’ve been thinking of making a video on them for months!! I wasn’t aware of the volcano one though-thank you for letting me know!! SSO really loves adding Easter eggs don’t they😅 I wonder if the history of the volcano will be discussed in the main story?
@@RosemaryClearbell I really hope SSO talks about its history someday, Ashland has always fascinated me. I would love too see a video done about the paintings in Fort Maria!! (and just history about the fort in general) Not a lot of people have theories for the fort and I wish more people would look into it.
I actually think the leaf texture update is the result of replacing the old texture file with the new one. Let me rephrase. When you replace a file, all the terrain built with that texture would update depending on how they have done it. This would just mean that they have reused said texture in Ashland if true (which it most likely is imo).
Read your Reddit post about this too, and I totally agree with you. I think in the update coming on the 21st of August would be about this, but probably not yet. I’m actually really glad they’ve done some main story quests recently, but they’ve been a bit lazy? Anyway, my predictions for the 21st would be that we have an encounter with the dark riders and (not literally) katja or whoever else tells us to piss off and that they are ready for battle in somewhere in Jorvik. (not Ashland though) and the player has a MEGA load of soul training with ALL of the ‘powers’. Erissa could spy on us with her dolls and the quest could end there. Cliffhanger, huh? 😂

Thanks for the video! I haven’t really noticed how much it has been mentioned over the years. One suggestion: I had to turn up the audio to 80% to be able to hear you (normally about 50% for yt videos) and in comparison the music in between was pretty loud.

I don’t think that star stable has left Ashland at all. I think it will be probably one of the places which will be released last. I think it’ll be released maybe when we actually fight garnok like.. if we literally ever do xD .. 😂 I feel like nothing is happening in the main storyline at all atm tho idk

But yeah for sureeee everwind fields and ashland has to be correlated somehow, even if it may be hard to manage. I know main quests aren't the focus that much nowadays but I'm really excited to see what the future holds. One theory I also saw though is that the fridge doors could be bunkers? I'm not sure but I'll look more into it. (I'm gonna go on a theory making spree LOL)
I hope you have a nice day/night/morning/evening/etc! Thank you for reading and you're welcome for writing everything! Maybe I'll update this in the future if I find anything new :P
@@astroblys I saw a post on Reddit that I think you might be interested in-someone somehow spawned inside one of the fridge door bunkers/tunnels?? It was similar to the one that’s in Epona but not quite…I can give you the link if you want!
And thank you so much, I hope you have a nice day/night as well ☺️
Omg I'd appreciate it so much if you can give me the link, thank you so much for updating me about this! I'll be sure to look into it as soon as possible.
And you're welcome! :D

Oh my gosh, the original look of Ashland was SO creepy. Those twisted ashen/rocky formations looked genuinely disturbing. o.O
And yes, I noticed the reference to Ashland at the Birthday Festival 2023 and it's indeed curious how relatively often, and consistently, SSO seems to be teasing Ashland.
Your compliments mean so much to me omg 🫶🏻
And I agree with you about the original Ashland-when SSO does release Ashland I hope they bring back some of those old elements :)
I think/hope Ashland will be added after Dino valley gets revamped
Me too!
that would be so great because both places hold SO MUCH LORE - though i would also be scared for the same reason lol because i didn't love all of the recent quests..
I believe Nick Stoneground was on his way to Ashland but crashed in the snow according to him in a quest.
Dude im so happy to see that people still play SSO
I have a feeling that Ashland or the volcano itself is the reason for the Liopleurodon in the lake.
Lipleurodon? What’s that?
@@RosemaryClearbellit’s the dinosaur skeleton - liopleurodon is the name of the species these remains are from :)
i dont know if anyone remembers, but they actually released a picture of the house (in supposed ashland) and some guy with a hood on the news but Ive searched for that article even 4-5 yrs ago it was deleated. i dont even remember what it was about but it just mentioned ashland.
@@prxncesx well definitely update me if you find out anything new!
Awesome video! Ashland has been around for so long, I am really glad they are still adding to the lore ♥
Aaah thank you so much, I am too!!!
Ahh yes the twisty rock tree formations, a rather interesting species in Jorvik 😂 I really hope Ashland is released soon!
I do too😂
I was just thinking about Ashland! This was such an interesting video! I really would love to learn more about it in the future.
thank you! I would love to learn more as well
love this video, ashland is even more interesting now than it was!
also i think the "twisty rock formations" were actually dead (?) trees because they added leaves on the ground which had nowhere to blow in from as Ashland is surrounded by mountains except for the entrance into Dino valley - where no leaves ever grow.
unless they didn't really think about it as much. since it's an unreleased area they might've just slapped a randomish texture just for uhh fun? on the ground, then i would lean toward either the dead trees or rocks.
because i feel like rocks, boulders even would definitely belong in a tiny area surrounded by mountains with chipped off rock having nowhere else to go but the valley (ashland)
if anyone read this, thanks! sorry about the incoherence, messy paragraphs, and ranting 😅(i don't know sso-interested people, so i just dump all my thoughts in comment sections oops)
ohh that makes so much sense! i hadn't thought of that, thank you
@@RosemaryClearbell I'm glad I could help!
I absolutely loved this documentary! Keep up the great work :)
However, as I went further into the story, I felt like it's not even the same story after a while 😭
After we get to Fort Maria I lost all my interests in the main story, I no longer count SSO canon anymore.
Beautifoul video!!! I miss sso theory videos so much, I hope sso will finally get the lore together soon because it has so much potential!
Thank you! I hope so too!
good job on this video!! keep making quality content like this and i bet youll get thousands. especially these documentary videos, i especially love them lol. new sub!
Thank you so much!!
As much as I hope Ashland will open someday, I’m not sure sso will actually do it. I’ve seen some people say that apparently parents were complaining about it being too scary for their children and sso abandoned it cause of that but I’m not so sure about that
omg i never knew that! wow
Yea I don’t know if it exact reason but I did hear they removed it.
i noticed recently when i explored the road to ashland that there is no longer a notification when you walk towards it and now the road is renamed. maybe something is coming soon?
I find the Ashland so interesting. Thank you for your video, it was so nice.
thank you!! i'm glad you enjoyed it
Thank so much for making this video! it was so interesting to watch, you did an amazing job with it.
@@BamBam-b3m first of all thank you for the compliment!! it means a lot 💕
and that’s funny you mention the paintings in fort Maria because I’ve been thinking of making a video on them for months!!
Me and my club went there for an event and took pictures in a volcano
I actually think the leaf texture update is the result of replacing the old texture file with the new one. Let me rephrase. When you replace a file, all the terrain built with that texture would update depending on how they have done it. This would just mean that they have reused said texture in Ashland if true (which it most likely is imo).
AMAZING video!!!! Finally someone new who uploads great videos; that was so refreshing. Keep it up!
Thank you so much!!
@@stephanie._.mysterysea that’s a great idea for the new quest but MY Reddit post? I didn’t make one, nor do I have a Reddit account with my sso name as the user 😭 if someone’s pretending to be me please do link it 🙏

Were those twisted things some kind of rocky formations or maybe trees?
Maybe! I’m not sure
how to pronounce Ydris (coming from a swede) is "eee-dris" kinda
sorry this has nothing to do with the game - but your voice sounds *exactly* like mine its SO WEIRD. I am hearing myself narrate this video that I've never even heard about before. It's very unsettling. Great script! Very engaging. you did a great job writing and narrating this! I'm going to be thinking about this video for the rest of my life!
Thank you for your kind words
Great Video!
I don’t think that star stable has left Ashland at all. I think it will be probably one of the places which will be released last. It wouldent make sense if our character got into Ashland, but not into the area above golden hills valley and silverglade (forgot the name). I think it’ll be released maybe when we actually fight garnok like.. if we literally ever do xD .. 😂 I feel like nothing is happening in the main storyline at all atm tho idk
Oh i love your voice❤
