Part of the reason for my minimalist Journey is that I have been an anxious, highly sensitive person in the past. I therefore choose to keep my home clutter free, to what some people may think is an extreme level. Everything I do in my minimalist lifestyle is to aid the ultimate objective of calmness & stress reduction. What I discuss in this video as worked for me. I live in a minimalist home that is calm and peaceful. Along with living a minimalist lifestyle that is slow, intentional and CALM.
Minimalism can definitely be a tool to aid calmness. If you are new to my videos I think you would find other general videos about minimalism equally useful at helping create calm in life. However, once we have dealt with the external factors, and triggers of visual clutter and having too much stuff etc, there are other mindful aspects to consider. We begin to think about the internal attributors of stress and the antithesis of calm.
At the end of this video I share some quotes about remaining in control of our own mood but there was one quote that I did not include as it was anonymous. However, I thought it was particularly poignant. It said "What consumes your mind, Controls your life". I thought in terms of minimalism being about the consumption cycle and trying to stop this constant consumption & slowing down the process, it was particularly interesting to consider this quote in a different light. As it could have an ambiguous meaning. Meaning, negative emotions could consume our mind and so us. As if our life is controled we become the consumed. But also applicable to how our 'external stuff' can consume us by the headspace it takes up. Ultimately our thoughts need to be our own choices and not reactions for us to feel calm, free & at peace.
This is why I like to do many videos about questioning norms and not conforming, in areas that you do not want to in your OWN life. I have quite a few videos down this line of thought coming up 🕊️...

I developed macular degeneration in 2017 and have totally changed my apartment from rich jewel tones to all white with a little bit of light green. Colors really bother my vision and I feel much calmer without all the colors. I have tried meditating but I have severe OCD and can't sit still or calm my mind for more than two minutes. I have really tried to sit calmly many times but am a complete failure at this. I am a very content person though and have learned to live with myself. I am enjoying watching and learning from your videos. Thank you so much.

That is very positive, you know and accept yourself and have done the best to aid your calmness. This is all any of us can do really, try our best. There will always be things to upset the equilibrium of Calm, but we can but try and improve our situation and level of serenity 🕊️

Loved the anonymous quote. It resonates differently when you think of our thoughts. As a former anorexia sufferer, it’s very powerful. Although controlling our thoughts takes practice it is worthwhile. Silence helps me with this. Great video again.

Thank You Natalie, Yes silence has always been a favourite of mine.. and I actually conversely feel growing anxiety when I don’t get any quiet time for a while 😂 That’s why I think I have the growing dream of a cabin in the middle of a forest 🌲 Away from many of the modern noise pollutions. 😊

These are some helpful tips, thank you! Practicing minimalism has helped me realise that I don't NEED to buy everything I like. I acknowledge the 'fear of missing out' (which can cause me some anxiety) but then step back and think more carefully whether I really need the thing. I can let go of the pressure to 'have things' and that brings a lot of calm 🕊

I just came across your channel and thought I would give it a view. Too bad the first thing I saw was a Budda. I would not go any further.

For me the Buddha is a symbol of peace. I don’t follow a particular religion and consider myself spiritual. The ‘sage’ as in the title of my channel also connotes this 🕊️ ☮️ ☯️
