its not even just about emotional maturity, his upbringing probably plays a big part in it. i mean look at who is weak ass dad is, and though his mother loves her children - them two aren't a good example of a healthy relationship for their kids. even nancy has never said i love you to those she had dated, if i recall - steve was upset about that as well.
Because Hopper doesn't have to tell her. Joyce still feels loved without being told. Whereas El clearly doesn't. Did you notice that not a single (presumably endgame) couple had to say "I love you" to each other? The Mike and El fight scene in season 4 parallels the Steve and Nancy fight scene in season 2, where Nancy couldn't tell Steve that she loved him, even though he asked her to. And Nancy couldn't tell Steve because she wasn't really in love with him. Later in the season she got together with Jonathan. So Mike's reluctance to say I love you to El is probably for the same reason, he just doesn't. It's weird when people say Mike can't say I love you because his parents were in a loveless marriage. Nancy and Mike are both able to express their feelings, it is just that they were/are not with the right person. Do you know what actually affects Mike about his upbringing? Karen and Ted don't love each other, but they stayed together despite all their problems and incompatibilities to protect their image as a couple and a family. Because they think they have to. And growing up with this example of pretending everything is normal and forcing yourself to conform to society's standard of a normal relationship, even if you're not satisfied, perfectly explains Mike's side of his relationship with El. This explanation also fits with what Mike's actor said about his character in season 4, he said that Mike "tries to be as normal as possible". But where does that apply in this season? Certainly not when he is spending time with the Hellfire Club. He was actually referring to the time he spent in California with his girlfriend. And the "I love you" at the end of the season wasn't sincere. Will pushed him to say "I love you" to El. That's why the song in the background was called "You're the heart" (Will's hidden love confession to Mike) and why Will was always in the frame during Mike's monologue.

Nah, you guys were spot on with the 27 years. Pennywise returns to Derry every 27 years (with a few exceptions in the past). It’s definitely a nod to the story. I 💯 need Stephen King and Stephen Spielberg cameos in the final season. It doesn’t have to be over the top, they could be just standing in a crowd but you can see them if you’re paying attention.
There are a lot of talented actors on this show. But I really felt El confronting Mike with the letters. The little quiver in her voice that eventually rises as she becomes more emotional. Magnificent. You can actually see her frown really hard last episode when Mike gives her the flowers that say, "From, Mike". Mike also seems to know something's going on with Will since El mentioned him painting something for someone he likes but when he asked about it, Will said it was nothing. Finn Wolfhard did say Mike was going to go through some major changes and shifts this season, so I wonder what's going on in that head of his?
Hopper didn't have the guy break his ankles, he had him change the shape of the ankle cuffs so he could more easily slip them off his foot. the damage you see to his foot is when the cuff was pushed against his foot. if his ankles were broken, he wouldn't be able to walk.
Fun fact's: Jamie (vecna) takes 6-7hrs to put the makeup on for vecna and he is the sweetest human being and Maya hawk (Robin) is Ethan hawk and Umma Thurman's daughter and her brother played a extra on stranger things as well when Steve says I take care of all my customers and the guy walks into the video store that was her real brother and Millie bobby brown (El) is with Jake bon Jovi and David Harbour(Hopper) is married to Lily Allen and Natalia (Nancy) and Charlie (Johnathan) are married in real life
It’s easy to hate on Mike now but as you get further in I think you’ll start to give him some credit once you hear his side of it and his insecurities.
