THE MOST ANTICIPATED COLISEUM YET!!!! We tour the Hampton Coliseum. Elvis did 5 shows in the building in the 1970’s most notably on April 9, 1972 which was filmed for the documentary, Elvis on Tour.
So many lineups were done during our tour of this building. We also take you to the spot where the hotel Elvis stayed at once stood.

We’d like to thank the staff of the Hampton Coliseum for their wonderful hospitality and fantastic tour with great information. We’d also like to thank all of the crew and anybody that participated in the making of Elvis on Tour.

I just found your channel and this video was the first to appear for me. It couldn’t have been more perfect. I grew up (& live in) Virginia Beach just across the river. From the time I was 16 I was an Elvis fan and sadly I was born 5 years after he passed, but music of all kinds have always been interesting to me. I saw my first concert that wasn’t a festival at this venue in 1991 to see Debbie Gibson. I’m jealous of the teenagers that saw their first concert here and it was Elvis. ⚡️
The Best part of your channel is that you’re a Father and Son TEAM ! My Son and I are Best Friends and that is my Greatest Blessing in Life 🙏
Thank You guys for all you do to keep Elvis memory alive! 45 years since his passing, and he is still the best that ever was or will be! The King!
Top quality work as always...A historic place for all of us Elvis fans. Thanks!
Love everything about him i wish i could hav seen him in his short life no one like ELVIS
I was there in 72 the evening show.
Love the Hampton Road Concerts. Thanks for the video. Great job yet again.
Great job, guys. This one is especially historic because of the connections to the movie. I’d never heard the “Elvis door” story. Thanks!
Guys, I’ve said it before and will keep saying it I am so appreciative of what you guys do. You have great knowledge and total respect for Elvis and the history of the locations. As you say this is a very special venue. It was great to see the comparison photographs. Thank you and I look forward to more to come
Wonderful again! It sure is a beautiful building! Xxx
Thank you for this video. My Mom was in attendance on March 11th, 1974. I was born April 12th, 1974. My Mom said that I must have enjoyed it because I kicked the whole time. I still have the program she got.
It is a beautiful building and a landmark Elvis site. Thanks for bringing this to us Elvis fans who may not have the opportunity to visit these locations.
ELVIS went up about 10 notches for the Hampton Roads Concerts, you could just tell by watching them that ELVIS was giving these concerts extra energy.
Even his voice was stronger and richer he really did go into top gear for these shows.
1972 was a very exciting year for ELVIS as he just toured all year around America and he was always at his electric best none more so than at Hampton Roads and of course MSG .
Love and miss you ELVIS
Fantastic detective work guys yet again.
Thise beautiful place and beautiful building are live Elvis' history and that great performance. Your job just great. Thank you.
I live in Hampton and grew up going to the Coliseum for different events. Unfortunately, I never got to see Elvis at the Coliseum. Fortunately, I did get to see a show at the Norfolk Scope, just over the water (lower Chesapeake Bay). As an adult I worked as a police officer in Hampton and got to talk to many older officers that worked these shows. One officer told me that Elvis let her try on the fur coat he is seen wearing in your footage. She said it was very heavy. Another told about all the women trying to sneak up to the hotel room. By the way, you could always tell when Elvis was in town. The top 2 floors of the Sheraton had foil covering all the windows. If I could suggest one possible correction for the video; the correct address for the Sheraton was 1815 W. Mercury Blvd. There is no 1200 block of W. Mercury.
I love everything Elvis, this was really awesome, Elvis did alot in his 42 years, but I sure wish he had made it 42 more, 🙏
Agree one of the most unique buildings and architecture. Great job presenting as usual.
Fantastic jobs buddys!!! God bless you!... Elvis Always, on all the country of the world!!!
So thrilling as you traced Elvis' steps from the dressing room to the stage while the introduction music played! Also cool, arriving at the Hampton airport in the same coat I had in 1974. Thanks gentlemen. 👏🏼
This one was just absolutely awesome, guys I got goosebumps watching this. I think because the venue is so part of our memories having watched On Tour so many times, and what an incredible looking building this is, I hope Elvis got to see the outside architecture during his visits there. II’ll keep saying this, but thank you both again for bringing us these very special videos, I’d love to think that his remaining TCB band see this and the others!!… Cam
I am listening to elvis live at Hampton roads from 1972 I wich I could go back in time great up load s
The show from Elvis On Tour is one of my FAVORITE concerts to listen to.
Thanks for the video. Didn't realize On Tour was filmed in Hampton, where I didn't see Elvis but I did see the Grateful Dead many times, and they played CC Rider for me twice at Hampton, nicknamed the "spaceship" by Deadheads.
Phenomenal. I wish I had known about the Elvis door when I visited the Hampton Coliseum last year to take photos.
So Cool they honor Elvis & the Coliseum remains unchanged Great Video!
Keep on keeping on, another home run. TCB Forever !!
Great video documenting this arena and matching up the original footage IRL now. I recently viewed an interview with Sam Thompson who shared how in the final couple years they had Elvis' exit from arenas down to 40 seconds. By the time they said "Elvis has left the building" he was actually out in a car leaving.
That building is almost like a church from the outside its very beautiful .
Iam a great Brazilian Elvis's fan!! Tanks!!
Great job guys, I lived in Suffolk in 1974 through 1976. I have been in the Colosseum for other events. I live in West Virginia but my parents live in Nags Head North Carolina. Every time I come home I ride right past the Coliseum and to me it brings great memories of his performance of the 1972 which was part of Elvis on tour movie
Thank You so much for this fantastic quality video! You really did a fantastic job!
Thank You and good night!
FANTASTIC JOB GUYS !!!!! Truly
Lining up then and now pictures was epic as was finding the seat and showing the view … great fun
I thoroughly enjoyed this / these videos
Elvis history is Fascinating. Thank you!
These guys are a time machine!
Very cool videos guys! I was lucky enough to see two of many great rock n roll shows at the Hampton Coliseum. The first was the ‘72 evening Elvis show, which is featured in the film. And the second was the Rolling Stones Dec 18, 1981 show, which was also filmed and broadcasted live that night. I was only 6 years old when I saw Elvis in Hampton but do have memories of the show. I remember him in his blue outfit and that a comedian was the opening act. And on another note, I retired ffom the Hampton FD and have my picture taken, with guys from my crew, standing in the “Elvis Door” leading to backstage dressing rooms. A very cool place with A LOT of history…thanks again!
Love going that far back to get the feeling exactly the way Elvis saw the venue , gorgeous building ⚡️❤️🙌🏼So Elvis ⚡️🙌🏼⚡️❤️⚡️🙌🏼⚡️
Great video! In terms of filming Elvis, "Elvis on Tour" was much better than "Elvis: TTWII." Very nice tribute to Elvis and this building.
As always, GREAT VIDEO! And what architecture!! And on a beautiful lake! Never seen one like this before. Hope they can maintain it and NEVER tear it down! They don’t make them like this anymore. Thank you both! TCB ⚡️🕺👑
What an amazing video! Great job you did there guys 🤗
Great job, guys! An unusual building for sure, but I love it when things are still there and recognizable from Elvis' day!
Just another awesome job! I cannot thank you enough for sharing this wonderful video!
Fantastic as always and what a beautiful building. Brings back memories of watching elvis on tour as a kid.
You guys keep the torch lit. Awesome job. Thank you. TCB.
G'day from Adelaide Australia love your tours visiting elvis venue's
I think it’s time for you two to go to Hawaii where Elvis preformed in 1973 🎶🎥🎬
Great video! Love the 1st hand accounts & information you find that ties in beautifully with the footage & photos. Really gives the viewers a great insight of what the audiences saw and what Elvis & his crew saw. Can only imagine the electricity of being there in person seeing & hearing him live.
Nice job guys thank you so much ! I was around back then and for those of you who are too young to remember that time. Things in general we're just so much better ! I'm not a fan of 2021 and where America and the world are headed ! Need to start praying folks if you're not already ! God bless !
As always, absolutely love your videos showing us the then and now. Fantastic to imagine what it was like...thank you, and please keep up your amazing work guys 👍👍

Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been to Hampton twice for other concerts but didn’t realize where the Elvis plaque was until now. Looking back at old pics, I have a picture of it from across the lobby and didn’t even realize it until today lol.
Just amazing, and maybe my all-time favorite next to Macon - I've watched "Elvis On Tour" so many times I can recite some of the dialogue!
Really enjoyes this video, too.Keep up the good work 😀
My 1995 high school graduation was at Hampton Coliseum. I also saw Bette Midler there in March 2004.
Your channel is amazing! Receive our congratulations from Brazil!
My favorite venue!
Hello from France Good job🤝👌
Wow , Fantastic vídeo ! Very Cool Great Work Guys 👏👏👏 Thanks ! EP TCB ⚡Forever 💖
Glad you like it! Please subscribe!
Thank you
I'm sure I read an interview with the producer of " Elvis on Tour " who said the sound quality they got at Hampton Roads was by far the best they got of the 4 shows they filmed, which is why we see so much of that particular show …. Fun fact : A young Martin Scorsese worked as a film editor on " Elvis on Tour " ...
True about the sound. However they filmed 7 concerts that I know of for a fact. And there's more to surface which can also be said for TTWII and EIC. Which is a good thing. Bad thing is it's all about money, publicity and timing.
This is great! Thank you for this!
Wonderful video!!!!!
Great work again!!
You both are fantastic👍👍
Thank you !! We appreciate your support!
Now that Baz is working on EOT outtakes, it's (almost) safe to say we will see more HQ footage from the Hampton evening show at some point..
And even more anticipated.. Richmond!
Wonder if Elvis got extra motivation from that great looking building 👍🏻😁 great video friends
GR8 stuff well cool 😎👍🏻
Awesome !
Another excellent video very enjoyable.Greetings from England have a good safe tour.🐻🤗👍
Hi Guys ...I am new to your channel today 😀
Such a great concept of visiting Elvis old concert venues....really enjoy watching ...
Great job 👍
Muito especial. Elvis forever. Obrigada!❤❤❤
Hello from England
I was 12 when Elvis died, and as a kid i never thought about his "backstory". I have recently added comments to your videos and found them very informative and its great to see places now and almost 50 years ago. i have learnt a lot.
Elvis from the early years with Scotty, Bill and DJ would do shows in many towns/cities in places like school sports halls and what in England we would call Town Halls, theatres and similar type places which would hold only a small crowd, especially inside.
These videos and others have made me think about why Elvis never got to tour Europe and especially the UK. I know there are many "stories" as to why but we just guess and we were not there.
Maybe one reason is because in England we did not have anything like Coliseum's which would hold thousands of people and only in the early 1980's did we have Arena's which would hold thousands. As time moved on there were places being built. We also had the Old Wembley Arena where many famous bands of the 60's appeared.
It was just how it was meant to be, different times, different people.
Joanne, I think the main reason why Elvis never toured overseas was his manager didn't have a passport and couldn't go with him and control him.
@@williamlund1321 Yes that’s right
And I saw a documentary back in the day where he took the name of a Colonel Tom Parker who served in the 🇺🇸army I don’t know when
🇬🇧🇬🇧
Well done gents! This was super cool and thanks for TCB⚡️ God bless.
Keep up the great work, guys. I always look forward to the films.
Loved the tour. Thanks for TCB.
You are very welcome!!
I drive by that coliseum every day. Good video!
thanks to the both of you for sharing this great video with us in england /take care on tour look forward to more of the same
Thank you great video, I LOVE IT 😍😍😍😍
Historic venue with great acoustics. Also the site of the first ever live PPV and closed circuit concert featuring The Rolling Stones on December 18, 1981.
Excellent video!
Thank you!! We appreciate that!!
@@epbackontour Or, thank you very much!
AWESOME.!!!
Thank you!!
Brilliant loved it
Thank you !!!!
After all these years it still looks amazing and modern. I do wish you would have retraced the path that Elvis took there to his limo where we see him and the MM running down a ramp to his limo at the end of Can't Help Falling In Love in Elvis On Tour. Or maybe that scene wasn't filmed in Hampton Roads and was film elsewhere? Other than that, great video!👍👍
Thank you. The scene you are referring to, is Buffalo, NY.
@@epbackontour Thanks for the confirmation.👍
Awesome video!! Thank you!
You are very welcome!!
Love your site! Thank you. Might you ever do the Cow Palace in San Francisco? Thank you.
Yes
Great job as always. Pretty sure those are 2 different banners, correct. One is the In Person banner from 1972 and the one you have is from 1974, correct?
Thank you!!! During those shows, he had both styles on stage
Although very nice arenas, these venues were made extra special because The King performed there.
Unfortunately due to the sound and visual quality of the time Elvis could not grace the beautiful outdoor venues, ie stadiums, during his lifetime. Imagine him at Yankee stadium, JFK stadium, LA Coliseum etc.
If he had lived Into the next decade, that would have been his choice of venue for sure, in my opinion.
