That was a remastered version, in the original he didn’t say anything at all…. Just the looking back and forth… I felt the original was way better, as it built tension, and you didn’t know what he would do, however you can see all that was going through his mind without having to say a word… adding in that drawn out “nooooooo!” From episode 3 just cheapened the scene by alot. It’s almost insulting to the viewers intelligence that he was about to do what he was going to do… idk that’s just me though..,
It was when he refused to kill vader, vader knows the power Luke felt when he was angry and scared for Leia, Luke's power was like anakins while fighting in the temple , yet Luke stopped and then said no , I am a jedi like my father before me.
I just realized something about my favorite scene! I guess I always felt this but I never put the pieces together. This scene is the inverse reflection of the Bespin “I am your Father” scene! It’s reversed! Luke is the one who is in control and Vader is on the defensive. Luke tells his Vader who his father is. Then, Luke requests his father to join him against the Emperor. In the end, Vader refuses but is sent on a new trajectory that forever changes his character. Mind Blown!!!!
It had me at” it’s over it’s finally over”😢 Speaks to someone who has been so abused, physically mentally mindfucked for years Hearing it makes you happy that he was finally released from his agony
I always have a soft spot for ROTJ of the three because of moments between these two near the end. I'm not your typical "Empire is the best one" fan. I actually like ANH most followed by Jedi probably.
I always think of New Hope, Empire, and Jedi as equally good. I watched all three in the drive in and theaters so many times as a child. (When they came out)... But if I could just choose one to randomly watch, it is usually Jedi. I like how the story flows. And they did a really good job at telling different stories at different locations. The pacing is perfect. I don't really have a overall Best list. I think of the original 3, Mandalorian, and a few of the animations as all equally perfect... Unfortunately my No Go list is longer then my Go To list
If you watch Revenge of the Sith, Anakins' first dream of Padme was actually a vision of Luke being tortured by Palpatine. Since Anakin has not seen his son, padme was the catalyst used to forsee his future.
Luke ask Vader Come with me Vader reply " Obi-Wan once though as you do." But I wonder if he really thinking about Luke 's mother it was her that said that Anakin. Was Vader thinking about Luke & Liea mother Before he knew about Liea is his Darther ?
It was so Vader could surprise the audience and throw the Emperor into the reactor at the last minute...silly. The writers likely wrote the entire screenplay backward from that moment, and foreward from the Han rescue. The jungle teddy bears was merch filler in the middle. Bigger question is why did the radioactive reactor vent openly into the Emperors chair room? So vader cpuld throw him down the shaft... silly.
Luv the movie. But .... gotta point out I only saw small 2 legged AT-ST walkers on Endor during the battles on Endor. Despite showing 4 legged AT-AT walkers guarding the outpost Luke surrendered himself to Vader in. So I feel so robbed not seeing our big walkers fighting ewoks, without playing 2nd gen battlefront, only to watch someone playing Bobafett fly on top of it to snipe from said Walker. 😂
It never made sense to me why Vader didn't work with Luke to kill the Emperor like he suggested in Empire Strikes Back. Vader had nothing to loose at this point if he teamed up with his son to kill Palpatine. The only alternative was one of them dies so the other is a slave to the Emperor. You could argue Palpatine is too powerful, but with Luke they stood a chance.
This was a great analysis. So many people want to see Vader as a symbol of unrepentant evil, but when you look at the context of all six original films he wasn't that at all. His main moral crimes were falling victim to his own pride, fear, and ego, which in turn transformed him into a killer. But the Emperor was easily 100 times worse, and in the end Vader destroyed him to save Luke...one of the last good parts of himself.
Anakin, even in episode 2, truly believed in Empire. In peace through an Iron Fist. In episode 3, Anakin turns against everyone close to him and the organization he had dedicated his life to in order to save his wife, daughter, and son. In episode 6, Vader turns against everyone close to him and the organization he had dedicated his life to in order to save his son. The fact that this time he is killing the bad guy for selfish reasons instead of killing the good guys for selfish reasons isn't repentance. It is doubling down on evil. So yeah, he's a pretty decent example of unrepentant evil.
@@nitePhyyre Garbage take. Vader KNEW he would die to Palpatine's lightning yet saved Luke anyway. There's no logical way that can possibly be perceived as selfish

I love how his conflict was internally and externally said as we see him turn his head back and forth and says,” No. No!” I love that line!

What turned vader was seeing palpatine force lighting luke, the dad mode kicked in

He had no reason to and believed that the Emperor was invincible.

Same! ANH is my favourite of the OT, followed by Jedi then Empire. I do like Empire but it is not my favourite and I find it does plod along at times.
I really enjoy your content. The music is perfect.
Thank you so much!
just now occurred to me but the Vader/Luke fight on DS-2 counts as a "Duel of the Fates" pt 2
DAMN! Just damn bro! By far this was the most emotional video for me. You put that story in perspective I truly thank you for this.💖🥰
Kinda makes me curious as to why vader yelled in pain when his hand was severed, his robotic hand

Thank you. I always tell people Vader would've killed Luke in combat if he had to, and if he COULD.

Is there an in universe explanation for why Vader's lightsaber looks so different in ROTJ?

He was too afraid. It's likely they still couldn't win, and even if they would there's no doubt Vader would die in the process
