Harrison is my goat
No offense to Carl Reiner's children whose loss I do have sympathy for, but when I heard that he had died my very first thought was "Oh, poor Mel Brooks". This piece explains why. At a certain point children start leading lives which are largely separate from their parents, but for Mel his life was so integrated with Carl's and his wife and most (if not all) of his other friends had already passed. These two men are such national treasures; they've brought so much joy to so many people that you really never want to lose either one of them. But if it were me, I wouldn't want to be the last one standing. If you loved Carl, send love to Mel.
Hearing the story about Mel continuing to go to Carl's house for dinner a year after he passed was very poignant. Yes, I agree it's a special kind of heartache and loneliness to outlive all your peers.

His rep for being irritable and prickly only applies when faced with insincere or shallow knuckleheads - like oh so much of Hollywood and its press. He suffers no fools and I love that.
If you come at him like a normal genuine person interested in meaningful conversation, you get a totally different Harrison. Not that bloody hard... you would think. Nice work, Ben.

Harrison Ford is not as curmudgeonly as they make him out to be. There was a humbleness about him when he said he was grateful to his fans. He also rescued a lot of people who were in danger or injured with his helicopter? or plane?
