  • Thanks for tuning in to watch my easy urban sketching, ink and watercolour tutorial! Don't forget to check out my channel where I have hundreds of different urban sketch tutorials, as well as other watercolour and ink sketching guides for everyone from beginners to more advanced!
If you'd like to support my channel you can buy me a 'Coffee' on KoFi - ko-fi.com/tobyurbansketch
When I reach my goal I'll upgrade my sketching tutorials with a new camera and use my old camera to give an extra view point in my videos! Perhaps my face, perhaps my watercolour palette, or some close ups of my process!
In this easy urban sketching tutorial we will be looking at how to make a simple sketch of Sydney opera house.
Sydney opera house is one of those so easily recognisable places, that it can be intimidating to sketch. But with a few simple steps, focussing on making it easy and enjoyable, we can create a beautiful piece of art.
If you want me to sketch something near you, or a project you've got in mind then please just leave me a comment with your idea!

Enjoyed this one. Taj Mahal i think would be a good one in your style next.

so enjoy your channel…learning to let go of being “perfect” and be more “loose” with sketching and watercolor

Hi Toby - i had a go at this one (as I alway stry to do) and I finally managed to get "loose" by limiting my time sketching and painting and then stopping (without post-painting fiddling!)

    Bravo

I am new to urban sketching and therefore have to get used to the representation style. I have taken lots of photographs of the Sydney Opera house over the last 20 years and produced water colour and acrylic versions which are more realistic than yours. I will try the urban sketch style and compare. I like your style of producing the videos which is easy to follow.

You refer to the buildings as 'petals' which is understandable but the design is actually meant to represent 'sails' from yachts. 😃
