    Very nice walkthrough and details enough for 1st timer like me. If you don't mind, can share the renovation cost for reference?
    Cheers and will go through your video for more references.

    Thanks for this renovation series. We are also in the midst of selling and buying. However as ours will be a resale, there will be a lot of hacking and recreating. What will your rough Reno cost be? Ours will probably be higher since we are moving into a bigger place.

    Sorry to kaypoh … I hope your ID advised you to install dimmers on as many light sources (ambient, task and accent) as possible… esp ambient lights. Without it … it may be too bright to create a warm and cosy feel … esp at night. You don’t want to end up as bright as a mall boutique in the heartlands. Then end up not turning ambient lights on because it’s too bright. Then room will be too dark. Lighting is critical.
    Also … having gone through a Reno recently … styling will determine 60 to 70 percent of the final presentation. Locals tend to “overbuild” … ie spend too much of total budget on Reno and too little on furniture and accessories. Always end up falling way short. If the budget is very high or unlimited … then no issues. If you look at decor from western countries … it almost always looks better. It’s the styling… no need fancy designs in the structure itself…just what is necessary. Cove lighting will look “orbit” real quick if furniture and styling is not appropriate … like a Chinese restaurant.
    Just my 2 cents. 😊

      Wow Andy thanks so much for taking your time and effort to share this with us and the community! 🙏🥰 Yes, smart lighting is indeed very important to us because we like it dim at night too and also want flexibility to shake up the atmosphere with gradient colours.
      Our ID unfortunately did 0 on lighting advice whatsoever. We wanted to engage those lighting specialist but decided to DIY and trust our instincts to save money.. so we bought our own lights.. mostly smart bulbs and dimmer remotes compatible with our Samsung SmartThings ecosystem! We'll share more in a later episode 😃 Hopefully it all works out!

    what brand light strips are you using for your cove lights?

    • @thesuakus
      @thesuakus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Living and Dining we spent quite a bit on the Philips Hue Ambiance Gradient light strip.. bedroom and walk-in-wardrobe we went for the budget-friendly option of TP-Link Tapo!

    U done carpentry already? From another video I gather your ID may not care enough or experienced enough to sound this out to you:
    apparently it is quite standard to use thin wood (mine was 3mm) for drawers which are "small", eg 30cm wide is a small drawer to them 🙄. I don't know what thickness is enough, but for sure 3mm is wayyy too thin for something that's gonna support the weight of items without having them subsequently bending. I don't see how the width of the drawers alone is a good reason to use thin wood. The concept of internal volume seem to not exist to them 🤦
    Pls ask for a thicker piece if u think 3mm is too thin for you. Once the carpentry is installed, it is very troublesome to rectify. I had a workaround done by having another piece of wood attached below, depending on the drawer tracks, for some drawers it cannot be done and wood planks were used as additional support instead of the whole piece that covers entire bottom of drawer. All the best and thanks for sharing the knowledge out to the world thru ur vids ☺️

      Hello!! Wow thanks so much for your very kind sharing 😯 Yes! we are at the carpentry fabrication phase and this detail about drawer plank thickness has never crossed our minds. But very useful indeed and would check with our ID/Carpenter on this. Thank you!! 🙏
