Vitaminwater 50 cent pushed the brand heavily in commercials, songs, and more. Vitaminwater sales grew from $100 million in 2004 to $700 million in 2007. In May 2007, Coca-Cola bought Glaceau for $4.1 billion, and 50 Cent got paid.
7:37 That Coca Cola song idea also featured in the show Mad Men in the last episode, it implied the main character came up with the idea while on the same hill doing yoga with others, think it actually played the ad as well but can't remember
RC, Pepsi and coca-cola are well known names, coke taste to much like battery acid for some and Pepsi to sweet, RC has its own taste. Less acid then coke with a different flavor then Pepsi.
@Bloke Mike: There's at least one video about what fizzy soft drinks are called in various regions of the US. "Coke" is one used generically but in other parts of the country they use other words for a generic fizzy beverage. You might want to review one of these videos.
The people that started Pepsi originally worked at Coca Cola in the early days. A good book regarding this and other interesting unknown facts about different companies is "Big Secrets" by William Pounds tone. I think it came out in the early '80's (1981?). His conclusion was that Coke and Pepsi probably know each others' formulas because of the early association of Pepsi's founders with Coke. They just avoid conflict with one another.
Coca-Cola's dominance and economic reach is why people sometimes talk about "Coca-Colonization" (the sort of "Pax Americana" post-WW2 Cold War world) where the US dollar became the reserve currency and American brands/companies/popculture emerged as major influences on the world stage (for better and worse in various situations).
You talking about 50 Cent. 50 Cent had a minority stake in VitaminWater and became the spokesperson which increased the sales. When Coke bought the company, he pocketed $100 million (after taxes) for his shares.
On three occasions between 1922 and 1933, the Coca-Cola Company was offered the opportunity to purchase the Pepsi-Cola Company, which it declined on each occasion.
As a kid - my parents were able to get Coca Cola syrup in a medicine looking bottle and the syrup honestly would settle an upset stomach....I haven't been able to find the syrup sold like that anymore so in the alternative - just let your Coke it out and go flat -- works the same for soothing an upset stomach!
I used to work for Coca Cola a few years back. Pretty interesting company. Just in America they're different companies like Coca Cola North America, Coca Cola bottling, Coca Cola Swire and so on. He hit on a few but missed a few as well. They own a bunch of the chip brands, numerous other food products. I believe they own an airline company, a cargo ship line. What I do know is the lab or "testers" had the best job ever. When you get hired they give a whole binder of products you cant bring on facilities that Pepsi owned, That rule saved me from a lot of Taco Bell.
For some reason in the early 00’s I was in middle and getting chemo at the same time. Barq’s strawberry cream soda just hit different. It’s okay now I don’t love it but that year the chemo was messing with my taste buds and it was the best thing in the world😂
Bang was actually sued into near-bankrupcy by Monster for false advertising. Apparently SuperCreatine has no Creatine whatsoever! Bang also claimed that their drinks "cured mental r*t*rdation." I don't feel cured, but I love the skittles one. EDIT: My source is Reuters.
Last time I visited Epcot in Orlando they had a Coca-Cola building that had all their products from around the world on tap. You could try each one. At the time it had a good 30 to 40 drinks. A lot of them were disgusting.
Re the Sainsbury WW I ad, if you are interested in the "Christmas Truce" of that war, there's an excellent movie about it called "Joyeux Noel" which is about my favorite Christmas movie.
Coke can't fail to personalities starting their own business ventures. If some online personality created their own cola it would only be temporarily popular. That's what always happens. It better for personalities in the long run to just team up with major brands.
Just too Let You Know!! The portfolio of snacks, soft drinks, dairy, juices and grains encompasses world-famous brands such as Pepsi, Lay's, Doritos, 7UP, Tropicana and Quaker Oats, alongside our much-loved, local and regional brands, including Walkers crisps, Alvalle Gazpacho Duyvis nuts and Agusha baby food.
If you go to a restaurant in The United States, South, and you want a soft drink, you tell the server you want a Coke. Then the server asks you what kind of Coke you want. Then the server might start rattling off the types of "Coke" that they have... "We have Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Siera Mist, Mountain Dew, etc. In the South, Coke is like the toilet tissue brand Kleenex. If someone needs a nose tissue, the common ask is for a Kleenex.
I live in Texas and if I ask for a coke I’ll get a coke. We have common sense here and we’re able to look at the menu and deduce what drink we would like. We then ask for the drink and if they don’t have it we choose water with lemon or tea.
21:50 Daz is correct about Vitamin Water being partly owned by a rapper. 50 Cent initially was a part owner for a time. I'm not sure if he still is today.
I know I speak for most ppl when I say that coca cola is the perfect beverage, the taste profile just cant be beaten and then combine it with an intense feeling of being refreshed
I took a few graphic design courses in college. My professor told us with logos you either have words or pictures. Not both. Your picture should be able to portray the brand on its own. He also left out monster energy and reign energy. Bang energy is a Pepsi brand.
The soft drink he forgot in this video is Barq's root beer, which is one of the better root beers available, especially if you can find the bottled version (which i've found only in Barq's home territory of New Orleans and South Mississippi). Coca-Cola bought Barq's in 2000.
Do you remember Virgin Cola? I loved that stuff. I tweeted Richard Branson about it and they said the cola was Virgins biggest flop and they discontinued it. But I wish I could try it again .
Gimme a Tab. I can't give you a tab unless you order something. Gimme a Pepsi Free. You want a Pepsi, pal, you're gonna pay for it. Just gimme something without any sugar. *Gives him a cup of coffee.
Even named brand breakfast cereals also sell the same product under generic brand, so no matter which one you buy you are still buying from the same company... American Capitalism in all its glory..
If they could buy Pepsi, I'm sure they would. Companies set up fake competition among their own properties all the time. It generates buzz for both brands. But a merger that big would have regulatory implications, and make it harder to enforce environmental and safety laws.
I prefer Pepsi to Coke, also Sierra Mist to Sprite(with the exception of McDonalds Sprite. I do really like Cherry Coke however. As well as Fanta and Barqs. I don’t like Dr. Pepper.
Prefer Coke to Pepsi and 7Up to either Sierra Mist and Sprite, but it's hard to find in restaurants and fast food joints; which feels like a monopoly to me. Love Simply. Simply Apple is So great. But, I'm addicted to Simply Limeade, while I love Watermelon, Peach, Orange (I think they used to mix it with tangerine, which I only bought until I couldn't find it anymore). Barq's Root Beer is good, but I'm into an artisan brand sold at a couple eateries where I live. I'll get Pepsi if I absolutely Have to. Coke is strong. Pepsi is sweet...to me, so I prefer a strong soda to a really sweet one
The huge success of this brand is a great failure for humanity. Juices? Zero sugar? Coffee? Tea? These are just deceptive names. Pure chemistry and quick death.
They’re a bad company in the countries where their factories are located. They drain the water table, leaving the locals with no water. They give the families free coke and the children drink coke as there’s no clean water. Awful company in that regard.
Stop everything your doing office blokes & react to Christian Craighead, popo medic released a video which would be a good reaction. spoilers but SAS operator/hero Christian craighead rescured hundreds of civilians & neutralized 2 terrorists, solo vs an unknown number of terrorists. Guy is a classic example of the SAS being legendary. I’m an American but if I had to have anybody rescue me I’d like US or UK special forces. Also a woman can’t remember her name was rescued from the terrorist attack & she has written a book ab it & been on a podcast describing the entire day, Christian craighead, the sas beast has written a book (called “one man in”) that’s awaiting British mod, ministry of defense clearance to be published. Anti-monopoly laws in the U.S. are incredibly weak but if Coca-Cola were to try to purchase Pepsi, those regulations would finally kick in. Similar laws in the E.U. woukd have something to say too.
Vitaminwater
50 cent pushed the brand heavily in commercials, songs, and more. Vitaminwater sales grew from $100 million in 2004 to $700 million in 2007. In May 2007, Coca-Cola bought Glaceau for $4.1 billion, and 50 Cent got paid.
I just realized I been watching y’all’s videos everyday for the past 2 years
Great effort 👏🏼👏🏼

You should do something like this on Disney. You'd be surprised just how many other companies they own.
By coincidence coke has an exclusive deal with Disney parks for soft drinks.
RC, Pepsi and coca-cola are well known names, coke taste to much like battery acid for some and Pepsi to sweet, RC has its own taste. Less acid then coke with a different flavor then Pepsi.
@@masterlee9822 I prefer Pepsi because it's sweet I can't stand Coke or RC

50 cent was the vitamin water guy

Daz you're thinking of 50 cent and his Vitamin Water deal and yeah vitamin water is still quite a big thing here.
Coca Cola was the deciding force on what Santa would look like. There was so many versions back then. They used the Santa we know as a mascot.
Aw, yeah, Company Man. This is a great channel. History and business all in one.
You talking about 50 Cent. 50 Cent had a minority stake in VitaminWater and became the spokesperson which increased the sales. When Coke bought the company, he pocketed $100 million (after taxes) for his shares.
The original depiction of Santa had him wearing different colors, primarily blue, but because of Coke, evveryone only associates red with him.
On three occasions between 1922 and 1933, the Coca-Cola Company was offered the opportunity to purchase the Pepsi-Cola Company, which it declined on each occasion.

Boil it, it will very quickly flatten and you can remove water to thicken it. I wouldn't try to get all the water out, though.
Check Watkins Products
50 cent owns VitaminWater
50 cent with the Vitamin Water Daz.

Company Man makes great videos! Enjoyed your take on it.

Warren Buffet began buying Coke stock years ago and has never sold a single share. He now makes $1 Billion dollars a year off the dividends alone.
Love when two of my favorite TH-cam channels converge
Last time I visited Epcot in Orlando they had a Coca-Cola building that had all their products from around the world on tap. You could try each one. At the time it had a good 30 to 40 drinks. A lot of them were disgusting.
Company Man is such a good channel. Please react to more from him.
Re the Sainsbury WW I ad, if you are interested in the "Christmas Truce" of that war, there's an excellent movie about it called "Joyeux Noel" which is about my favorite Christmas movie.

You're thinking about 50 Cent, he got a lot of money when Coke bought Vitamin Water since he had some stakes in the company
In the U.S. you can get Pocari Sweat at any Asian grocery store. But I've never seen it anywhere else.

My son lives in Atlanta and this is a fact.
It was the same when I lived in Oregon surprisingly.
that's idiotic.
My family doesn't even allow any other brand soda in our homes if someone is caught with Pepsi they would never live it down
I live in Texas and if I ask for a coke I’ll get a coke.
I think he just had partial ownership of one or two specific flavors and got partial sales revenue of them.
He sold his shares when it sold to Coca Cola and walked with $200 million.
There's a slight audio buzz in the background... good luck figuring it out 😄
I thought I was going nuts lol
That was a good video. Didn't realize Coca Cola was "essentially" behind the Santa phenomenon. Crazy
50 Cents was the original owner of Vitamin Water
I know I speak for most ppl when I say that coca cola is the perfect beverage, the taste profile just cant be beaten and then combine it with an intense feeling of being refreshed

It's one of the first things he mentions.
I love Barq's rootbeer.
Barq's is the only national brand of root beer that has caffeine.
he talks about Barqs
??? uhhhh did you watch the video
im drinking a coke right now watching this video.
If you're ever in Atlanta check out the CocaCola Museum.
I have been there. It's truly fascinating. I got tickets through Citypass so I was able to visit the aquarium next door and museums.
Topo Chico is great. It’s from Monterrey Mexico. I’ve climbed the mountain Topo Chico where the water comes from.
Vitamin Water was a 50 cent partnership
TAB is still available here in NJ
Right now if you buy Two cokes at a convenience store they give you a stuffed Coca Cola Polar Bear 🎄🐻❄️
Daz was close, it was 50 Cent who bought Vitamin Water in the early 2000s and he made millions off it.
Vitamin water was 50 Cent’s before Coca Cola bought it and made him even richer than he already was.
You should say the world a Coke museum here in Georgia it is awesome
Beast Cola? Try Wolf Cola. There's nothing like it to wash away the sorrow.
Company Man's videos are some of the best on YT.
Daz is correct Pocari Sweat is it Japanese energy drink. Now what you guys need to research is Japanese Calpis.
50 cent was an early investor in Vitamin Water
Do you remember Virgin Cola? I loved that stuff. I tweeted Richard Branson about it and they said the cola was Virgins biggest flop and they discontinued it. But I wish I could try it again .
50 Cent is the rapper you’re talking about.
Pocari Sweat. I had it when I worked in Hong Kong.
Unrelated… but I saw the ad for Walmart before they watched the vid. I didn’t know Walmart was in the UK 🇬🇧 is it?
This a cool video series! More please!
It feels good to live in the most powerful state of Georgia.
You are right. Pocari Sweat is Japanese.
Horrible stuff
Daz your talking about the rapper 50cent who owned vitamin water
I live in Atlanta. I worked in the marketing department At Coca Cola. It’s impressive of the machine it is, and how dominates local politics
I live in Atlanta as well, never knew Candler Road was named after the guy who brought Coke into relevance.
Gimme a Tab.
I can't give you a tab unless you order something.
Gimme a Pepsi Free.

Slipping it in with OB Dave after dark
Good one. Cheers
Tab used saccharine.
Vitamin Water used to be owned by 50 Cent.
Ironically since you were talking about Pepsi and taco bell. Pepsi owns taco bell.
50 cent is who owned Vitamin Water
If they could buy Pepsi, I'm sure they would. Companies set up fake competition among their own properties all the time. It generates buzz for both brands. But a merger that big would have regulatory implications, and make it harder to enforce environmental and safety laws.
Coke stopped selling Tab earlier this year.
You guys should start a podcast and start inviting people on I bet you that would be great entertainment
Heck yea. That fifa rant was one of my favorite videos. It was like half podcast.
I refuse to buy Cathedral city cheese because they poised the water in my local area, Until the environment agency took them to court over it and won
How does mixing sugar water destroy the environment?
Can you guys react to Drunk History? It's so funny.
I guess we're gonna breeze past the whole "small amounts of cocaine" part aren't we.
😂
That's Capitaism ! 👍
McDonalds fountain Coke is still the best in my opinion.
It was the rapper 50 cent Daz
I prefer Pepsi to Coke, also Sierra Mist to Sprite(with the exception of McDonalds Sprite. I do really like Cherry Coke however. As well as Fanta and Barqs. I don’t like Dr. Pepper.

Woah
It was 50 cent
Pepsi became the 6th largest military force in the world for a brief time. Not Coca Cola I know, just lil useless info.
Taco Bell is owned by Pepsi Co
Hey! Company Man! Subscribe, he's awesome!
Ah yes monopoly
The huge success of this brand is a great failure for humanity.
Juices? Zero sugar? Coffee? Tea? These are just deceptive names. Pure chemistry and quick death.
The rapper 50 cent owned power water. Coca-Cola bought it from 50 cent
Vitamin Water
You ask for rum & coke ,jack & coke not pepsi.
They’re a bad company in the countries where their factories are located. They drain the water table, leaving the locals with no water. They give the families free coke and the children drink coke as there’s no clean water. Awful company in that regard.

PowerAid is just gross. I don't get why they dont just offer a few good flavors at a lower price. I never understood. They all taste horrible.
