Wow they sounded so much better with Matt. Much rawer and in your face. But most bands did in the 90's. Still young, hungry and energetic. Something to proof. Good times!
Royalsteven I think that was because they were younger, everyone is still energetic, just not to this extent, it wasn't Matt, it was age, because Rivers started to lose energy after the Red Album
this is when Rivers Brian Matt And Pat were the most important thing in my life...ahh 1995-1996 were so fuckin sweet..."we were good as married in my mind, but married in my minds noo good" fuckin great
River's stage presence is amazing! I can't beleive it when I see a reacent concert now... I have all ways felt like their concerts were missing something -- now I know. I think after the break up, I feel the atmosphere changed, because, correct me if I am wrong -- the bassist left. Blue and pinkerton were great with fall setos and the back vocals and the drive. Sure their new album has it but in my opinion, nothing will go the way it did when "rocking out like 94" was a thing.
While Matt Sharp definitely had a huge deal of influence in the drastic change of weezer's sound, I think it was the initial criticism of Pinkerton that hurt them the most. Rivers became extremely self-conscious and made the extreme opposite of Pinkerton in Green Album due to this criticism. Hell, Rolling Stones voted Pinkerton the worst album of 1996. Now in retrospect, Pinkerton was /amazing/.
fun story.. i was 3yo in 96..so i could have been in that second or third wave of fans that came in mid 00'.. but sadly..i wasn't.. i mean ''sadly''..ok.. i was a huge greenday fan..so for me, at the time..i didn't really miss anything, it was like.. hmm green day is all i need.. of course i liked beatles,cash,blinks,nirvana..etc. i mean i listened to good music not to specific genre(completely subjective) .. i believe i first heard weezer somewhere in 05 and my first reaction was..(let me explain first that i only listened to melody and didn't really pay attention to lyrics and that i didn't actually listen the whole song through) so reaction was: whoa this is crap.. i mean this song has nothing to do with buddy holly.. you know it was hard for me cuz i was frustrated at the time cuz no one in my circles really listened to Buddy holly,Ritchie Valens,Jerry lee lewis,Cash.. so i was angry cuz people only knew buddyholly in that song and not for his own songs..which when i think about it now..really didn't have any point at all :P yeah.. so this is the whole stupid reason i became a Weezer fan so late.. :( and i got that going for me now and it's kinda cool, cuz i still have at least 3 albums of songs to listen to :D WHICH IS Awesome! Lyrics are great, Rivers is really awesome! the best songwriters for me are still Connor Oberst and Jenny Lewis but Rivers is rlly close behind them..My fav song so far is THE GREATEST MAN THAT EVER LIVED..i'll take care that from now on, they'll play it at all my birthdays and for my funeral!!! thank you for taking time and reading my story :D :* have a sunny day with vine or beer and i hope she's not a queer (pinktriangle Pun*) :P "Excuse the bitching, I shouldn't complain... .....But who do I got to blame? great performance! but who else finds it ironic that rivers is drinking a Heineken throughout the set. and by the time no one else is played. he is pretty tipsy, then he sings say it ain't so. which makes reference to alcohol using a "Heine" as in Heineken. hes drunk while singing about his fear of alcohol while intoxicated from it xD lol. great performance of say it ain't so! probably my favorite live version.
Conor M. Idk how I'm seeing this 2 years later Let's remember the guy who thought it made more sense for someone's ass to be in rivers' cooler than a beer in a song about alcoholism
Pinkerton was an album with a negative vibe due to having pretty dark topics to it (don't know if that made sense) and people thought it was too negative, basically Pinkerton was ahead of its time and people overlooked the vibe, now that people have experienced the stuff that Pinkerton expresses they can understand what Rivers sings with passion.
Dylan Connely Listen to the "Blue" album and then listen to Pinkerton. Pinkerton is so much different. The lyrics touch upon some dark themes. At the time it just really confused people. I remember the first time I listened to it I was pretty taken back. I think Weezer challenged themselves and their fans with Pinkerton and that's why it's often regarded as their best. Amazing album.
A tip for those that upload these videos with 1 channel sound--I recommend duplicating the channel and putting the duplicate audio channel on the empty channel (whether it's right or left). This is actually pretty simple to do in free programs like Audacity or something. Then if you have the right video software you can plug your new audio in, and viola! It's mono audio. I think that's a workaround solution, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. (BTW I'm not complaining--this video upload still rocks!)
my right ear is enjoying this
XD
Me too bro !
Download the Audio Pan extension and slide it left. It makes it balanced.

Your forgot about taking a shit
I would have killed for TH-cam back in the late 90s early 00s. This stuff is pure classic.
6:13 "Ohhhh, takin' a shit, takin' a shit all daaaaaaaaay"
I'm fucking dying, lmfao.
Why is nobody talking about the beautiful song Matt starts singing at 5:54?😂😂
Rivers is business casual
This was awesome, my right ear loved it
The coolest uncool kids of their decade.
Wow they sounded so much better with Matt. Much rawer and in your face. But most bands did in the 90's. Still young, hungry and energetic. Something to proof. Good times!
just look at at the drive in
Deadeyes X
Yes, good band also.
Royalsteven I think that was because they were younger, everyone is still energetic, just not to this extent, it wasn't Matt, it was age, because Rivers started to lose energy after the Red Album
I believe they perform better live now. I recently saw them and thought they sounded better live. Rivers has a better stage presence now too.
curragh 42 you do realize all the songs on blue album were recorded in e flat right?
I am sure "Memories" is caused by these best years of Weezer.
RodArmy you damn right
I love this era of weezer

Hella sweet make-out session at 10:08. Gross.

+Mad Madder Agreed.
Reynold Adamson agreed bro, that's why they experimented so much on Red, because everyone hates Make Believe
Nailed it.
Fall setos lol
Matt Sharp is just the best
This rendition of "Pink Triangle" is beastly.
Of course people rocking out to pink triangle!! I don't get who didn't get it back then
+jonyboyishere my favorite song on pinkerton
For me, this is Weezer at their best. Pinkerton is still my fave Weezer album.
That was the best Weezer performance I've ever seen
Say it ain't so was better at letterman 95.
NESman1995 Eh
I like how they kind of foreshadowed the sweater song by playing that first chord in the song very briefly rather it was done intentionally or not.
2:37 El Hefe from NoFX in the back!
They played the same day later.
KILLER! I love NOFX didn't even notice that
What the hell?! Awesome
FYI: Download the Audio Pan chrome extension and you can even out the audio to both ears.
Brian and Matt look like they are having a lot of fun.
DAMN I miss the nineties!
Hey I know you!
Hearing those first few notes to El Scorcho and hearing dead silence from the crowd is a total mindfuck with retrospect lol
Weezer's Greatest line up - kickin' ass in the afternoon. Love It

Hey, do you happen to have a video from the Weezer choir performance at the Bowery Ballroom Oct 27 2014? Somehow my search for that video led me here.
great performance! but who else finds it ironic that rivers is drinking a Heineken throughout the set. and by the time no one else is played. he is pretty tipsy, then he sings say it ain't so. which makes reference to alcohol using a "Heine" as in Heineken. hes drunk while singing about his fear of alcohol while intoxicated from it xD lol. great performance of say it ain't so! probably my favorite live version.
The line in Say it Ain't So isn't reference to Heineken, it a reference to the phrase Heine, which means butt.
Conor M. It's Heineken because it's about his father's alcoholism
Than explain "somebody's Heine, is crowding my icebox"
Conor M. to me it means someone's unwanted Heineken alchoholic beverage is in his ice box.
Conor M. Idk how I'm seeing this 2 years later
Let's remember the guy who thought it made more sense for someone's ass to be in rivers' cooler than a beer in a song about alcoholism
does anyone else notice that Rivers is drinking a Heineken?

Pinkerton is the best album weezer has ever put out
because its ahead of their time back then when they released it.

did anyone mention its mono yet
There is 2 seconds of stereo at 8:30 ish
Thanks coronavirus no one else can go to a concert anymore .
rivers is the biggest goof
Matt sharp looked like a dork up there :)
Same with the rest
8:00
what is going on in the crowd here
Why does the sound only come out of one headphone?
Can't hear stereo
thats right, just 1 channel. listen to it on speakers

at 21:29 fast drink.
57k?
Rivers is cute
What is with the rapping in undone?
Rivers looks like he just got off of work
why was the good life cut
They were probably cutting into the next band's time slot by running over schedule.
not full concert
Aww Brian can't palm mute anything because of that stupid thingy on his guitar.
watd he say, good to see you in your silver red scivvies? lol
Awesome show with the worst most boring ending to any concert ever
watching this in 2019, after the joke that this band has become is so depressing. Look at how awesome they used to be
nothing good lasts forever, and don't expect it to
Matt sharp was 50% of the band. Sorry Weezer
why cant i stand the bassist?
Post-Pinkerton Weezer = Asbsolute trash (except for a few 3 tracks from Green Album and 3 from Maladroit). Matt Sharp deservedly got his royalties.
