    Thanks for the video. About to change the brake pads on my car for the first time and this makes it seem pretty straight forward

    Thanks. A quick refresher and my brakes were done in less than 40 mins in the driveway. Cheers.

      @@RBTheMechanic You forgot to grease the contact area on the brake clips

      @@davo912That's not necessary especially considering no brand new vehicles come with any lube on the clips. If you clean the bracket, underneath the clips properly, the lube isn't needed.

      @@marcsmith3881 So now you are a brake expert. It's clearly in Nissan's Service manual so I guess you know more then them? FYI if you ever bothered to read the manual it also states to replace the hardware and anyone who doesn't is cheap and lazy

      @@davo912 I am a former Mercedes Benz Tech and have owned an auto repair business for almost 19 years. I have also been ASE certified in brakes since 2000. My Instagram page shows that I have performed several hundred brake services. So yes, I am an expert and as I said, no new vehicle comes with lube on the retaining clips. So clearly it isn't necessary. Most often it is washed away, burns off and attracts dust and dirt. As far as replacing hardware, unless they are stretch bolts, it's a way for them to charge more money. Go buy them every time and find out.
      If you are not cleaning the bracket, where the clips rest and just applying lube, you are being lazy because rust can build up underneath them. This will cause the pads to seize in place over time. I doubt the manual tells you to clean the bracket, but it's absolutely necessary depending on where you live. I just came to check if the vehicle had an EPB system or not because that adds other steps to the service.

    Hi good video, do you not need to bleed the brakes? Also must the brake fluid cap be left open or closed?

    • @thetexaschainsaw9366
      @thetexaschainsaw9366 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No need to bleed the brakes unless you replaced a caliper or did a brake flush. Brake cap only should be off when compressing the piston

    Don't you need to resurface the rotors every time you replace pads? That's what the dealer told me.

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s better to change the rotors cheaper and resurfacing u can cut them wrong and have car shake

    • @svik
      @svik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RBTheMechanic Thanks for the reply but I saw you replace just the pads and not the rotors. So I was wondering if it's okay to replace only the pads and leave the old rotors on? The car has only 33000 miles on it and rotors don't look too worn out.

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@svik yeah they still look good so no need to change the rotors and customer said they don’t feel any shake when braking on high speed
