When spray painting, remove the tape when still "green". Should have taped over the rubber feet too or just skipped the plastic bottom. To get a really nice finish, you should sand with very fine grit between coats. And do at least three coats of paint, but probably better to 5+ of very thin coats. Then top off with three coats of clear acrylic. Don't sand after the last coat of acrylic.
I appreciate your stance that Brands can't change what you say, but I also like that Brands keep improving and sending their stuff to you so you can demonstrate. :)
The two new NX switches, Cloud and Storm, are just Asus-branded Kaihl box switches. This is where the sound difference lies, boxes use a click bar rather than a click jacket, like a typical MX-style slider uses, entirely different mechanism where the acoustic properties differ quite a bit. The Storm will be in the Navy or Jade colors, as those have a thicker clickbar than the White or Pale Blue boxes had, the larger the spring wire diameter the deeper the click. I've also seen some comment that the Storms don't quite sound like Navy/Jade, I'm curious if Asus got some kind of limited exclusivity to a new generation, considering Summer is a new switch color and _might_ be what's rebranded as the Cloud.
Actually I was thinking of painting my keyboard case. So I was very glad to hear about your experience painting. So, Thanks to you and Nola, I am better prepared.
I got the first version and ran into huge issues with double keystrokes, so I replaced all the switches myself. As RGB was important to me especially in dark lonely nights I choosed gateron fully transparent switches and I'm back in love again with my keyboard, it's even brighter than before.
Ooooo Venusaur theme. Came out so nice. I've had the stuff to mod my red dragon for ages and still haven't done it but the snow switches have me wondering if they're the ones to swap to and do those mods at last.
I have both the NX red and NX snow versions because I couldn't tell from videos alone which one I'd prefer. I like them both but I think for gaming (slight risk of making more mistakes however) and thockiness the snows are slightly better. The reds have a slight wobble but its not really noticeable unless you are scanning for it. When I asked my wife she said the reds felt and sounded better (she probably finds the sound of the reds to be less annoying lol). Neither of us are keyboard nerds so take that as you will. I think the obsession with thock in the community favors the snows. However, the longer travel, higher actuation force and larger actuation point make it harder to make mistakes with the reds in theory. I notice that I'm more likely to hit the bottom of each press with the snows due to the actuation differences as well. The Reds have a higher frequency sound whereas the snows are lower frequency hence the thockiness. So again its all just preference. Both sound great overall with the snows being thockier and louder in my opinion. Both enjoyable typing and gaming experiences. I am still undecided. So if you got the reds and have FOMO please don't think that its a huge difference or advantage. It's not.
I used an original Azoth for months and it's what got me into the whole custom keyboard money drain hobby. One of my son loved it so much he stole it and I got a GMMK Pro which I modded with the Flex kit and I love (I know you don't like it but mine is phenomenal now, nice and bouncy but probably too muted for some). Since I have added multiple GMK67s I've built for friends, a Q1 Pro, a K8 Pro and I'm waiting on my Neo 65 and about to order that new Drop one as well. I have to initially blame Asus for the drain on my bank account but will probably have to pick this up as well... been using their motherboards since the 90s anyway so... The other blame goes to you and Betty, lol! I've been going down a rabbit hole of trying keyboards recently. Razer Huntsman Pro V3, SteelSeries Apex Pro, Logitech G Pro X. The Asus ROG Azoth has felt the best, and sounded the best to me out of all of them. I just wish it was a TKL. With that being said, is there a similar experience that could be had? Like of course I know it would need to be linear switches & double shot PBT keycaps. But what body could replicate the sound and feel I'm getting with the Azoth? I love how quiet, yet thocky it is. And I don't need the screen, but do appreciate the RGB rainbow effect. I don't need audio knobs or media keys either.

Ok thanks I would think so, and at least your not selling them for 200+ like a lot of companies, I love your videos and I will probably pick these up for my new keyboard.
I got the Azoth with the SNOW switches. They are SO amazingly smooth. And yet, the sound profile of this expensive keyboard was underwhelming. Hypio is right: it's the keycaps. I don't understand why a high end gaming keyboard comes with such thin, cheap-feeling switches. I swapped them out, and oh my the difference is amazing. I managed to get a hold of some shine-through doubleshot PBT caps that are significantly thicker. They also have the wide, rounded square tops that I love, and the difference is night and day. (literally--I replaced the dark grey caps on my black Azoth with white caps, and now I have a striking black and white keyboard.) I decided to keep the original caps on the black keys because they have little special functions printed on them. The result feels, sounds, and looks better. Much better. Really, just switch out the keycaps and you'll have yourself a really good keyboard.

Wow those keycaps look great. They look really nice with the shade of green you chose for the keyboard. That said, i am 99% sure that Kalih makes those specific types pf clicky switches. This is mostly due to the stem shape and that it sounds and kinda looks similar to a their Box style clicky switches like the Jades or Navys (which i think they copywrited but its been so long im not too sure).
@@CallMeTonyga you have seen the Lego keyboard, right? Well they released an expansion kit where you can expand the keyboard with a numpad & you can mount it on either side.
Looks like ASUS is discounting these quite agressively since I currently can buy Moonlight version for $212 and I live in Belarus were we are currently under sanctions and usually such things cost quite more as result. Gonna buy as my endgame wireless gaming keyboard to use both on my gaming PC and work laptop.
It's... fine, but you're right: it's too expensive at $250 because it's not quite good enough to be "done"; It needs keycaps and some light modding to really reach the point of being a great device. Also, I'm just not a fan of the north-facing switches. It know it's to get that awesome gamer shine-through, but... meh.
just curious but why do you keep using painters tape for the tape mod. this is a fire hazard. just use electric tape. also, stop putting things in keyboards that have moisture in them. pcb's get warm and moisture in a material inside the keyboard will result in condensation on the electronics.
I got access here via the youtube Shorts. But it was with storm switches, not the snow switches here in the full video. I am wondering if they have actually manufactured the storm switches for sale
man, the only reason Im not buying that set of key caps is because the letters are not centered. I know it is a me thing but I really wish the lettering was centered on the keys.
Will it be very stupid if I use the keyboard with the cable? I don't like wireless keyboards. You are very right about Asus trying to save money by not putting an aluminum bottom part. Which is a bit of a shame for such an expensive keyboard.

Wow those keycaps look great. They look really nice with the shade of green you chose for the keyboard.
That said, i am 99% sure that Kalih makes those specific types pf clicky switches. This is mostly due to the stem shape and that it sounds and kinda looks similar to a their Box style clicky switches like the Jades or Navys (which i think they copywrited but its been so long im not too sure).
numpad on the left gang when
I have been side eyeing the Keychron Q14, but the only detailed review on TH-cam is from a Korean channel with korean captions.
Keychron are so close to the grail. Fullsize southpaw and mirrorable numpad
Imagine having left hands
@@CallMeTonyga you have seen the Lego keyboard, right? Well they released an expansion kit where you can expand the keyboard with a numpad & you can mount it on either side.
yeah looks nice, but zoompad has a southpaw edition which was more of my style
you should do a review on the drunk deer a75
What screwdriver is that? Looks pretty useful. Link? Thanks!
I need to know what the jungle keycaps look like with the “overgrowth” front plate for the Drop CSTM80. They seem like they might be perfect…
try the Royal Kludge H81, I think you'll really get a good video for the budgeters, and I'd like to knw your thoughts on it!
Hi mr Statue of Liberty!
I got mine for 279 but it came with the Harpe ace aimlabs
Looks like ASUS is discounting these quite agressively since I currently can buy Moonlight version for $212 and I live in Belarus were we are currently under sanctions and usually such things cost quite more as result.
Gonna buy as my endgame wireless gaming keyboard to use both on my gaming PC and work laptop.
I got my Azoth for 179. I'm guessing they price it at 250 so they can do planned sales since they are a major retail brand.
Yeah, they are clearly inflating the MSRP in anticipation of that sweet 40% off Black Friday sale.
I think if you genuinely try painting and customizing a board it would be really cool
like honestly... if u really want wireless gaming "Custom" keyboard... this was and still is the best.
Great mod, Asus + Hipyo Tech for the win
Honestly, that's what I would expect when someone says "clicky" switches, those are really nice.
It's... fine, but you're right: it's too expensive at $250 because it's not quite good enough to be "done"; It needs keycaps and some light modding to really reach the point of being a great device. Also, I'm just not a fan of the north-facing switches. It know it's to get that awesome gamer shine-through, but... meh.
Kailh makes all of the Azuth's switches. The clickies are a variation of the Jellyfish and the Box Navy
The tape mod will forever be the best mod
Honestly, as someone who has a VEHEMENT HATRED towards clicky switches... those were def ones that I'd honestly not want to get violent over.
Hey hi Hipyo, You said that the Stabilizers are good but how is it compared to Durock V2 and GSV2??
I have Rog Azoth Brown Mechanical and it really good for typing and gaming
Now i need both the hippo keycaps and the plant keycaps😢
Now if only they could give us a brown switch in this family of stabilized stem switches!
unsubscribed and then subscribed again for an extra Howdy Hey.... My sources told me you get ANOTHER....Howdy Hey for commenting(waiting😎😎)
Hipyo, what are good switches to buy
looking forward to when the moonlight variant becomes available to the public
Its available now at microcenter
The question here is, which is better, snow or storm?
asus keyboards really good nice update I have the asus strix flare it's like your fingers will have muscles...it's hard.
@HipyoTech Other than the AZOTH, do you know any good 75% or TKL hot swappable wireless gaming keyboards?
Is the one plus keyboard actually good?
just curious but why do you keep using painters tape for the tape mod. this is a fire hazard. just use electric tape. also, stop putting things in keyboards that have moisture in them. pcb's get warm and moisture in a material inside the keyboard will result in condensation on the electronics.
I got access here via the youtube Shorts. But it was with storm switches, not the snow switches here in the full video. I am wondering if they have actually manufactured the storm switches for sale
So do you know when the new model of the asus rog azoth will be available? Cause my local stores only sell the old model until now :)
man, the only reason Im not buying that set of key caps is because the letters are not centered. I know it is a me thing but I really wish the lettering was centered on the keys.
Ah I personally dislike centered legends but fair enough
Will it be very stupid if I use the keyboard with the cable? I don't like wireless keyboards. You are very right about Asus trying to save money by not putting an aluminum bottom part. Which is a bit of a shame for such an expensive keyboard.
