@@gamingaudioguide9292 Absolutely not bass heavy, as the frequency response for the X2HR have a major drop off below 90Hz, and maintain mostly only a +2db above the target 90db SPL across the board. They'd be classified as a Bass Light in this respect.
@@thatzaliasguy keep in mind, I'm not classifying the headphones as "bass heavy". I'm encouraging him to use the strategy for EQ that I used for a bass heavy headphone. If you look a the FR curve of the x2hr, the hump around 60hz vs where you want to emphasize around 125hz will create the challenge. Neither the tactic from the bass light or medium bass eq settings mentioned will be very effective. If you don't trust my measurement, check out the measured FR curve at DIYaudioheaven. He does a fantastic job there.
No disrespect, but I very much need to critique here. This has some useful information, but I'd also like to point out a few major flaws in your audio analysis. You don't specify any constant used with your research, such as headphone impedance, which affects the dynamic range and sound stage of a headphone. So a lower impedance headphone would benefit from a more compressed audio mix, such as Midnight Mode, as this would reduce the dynamic range of the audio mix to fit the resistance of the headphone's impedance, but at a slight loss in overall detail (quiet sounds amplified, but loud volumes too loud, possibly causing a garbled mix from the limited ceiling). You also never specify which audio mix in game you recorded and then did the analysis from, as this will drastically alter results (specifically with frequencies peaking at different ranges depending on the mix selected). TL;DR: While informative, most of the information in this video is generally a mixed bag due to a lack of proper data gathering and utilization.
Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. I have actually tested on all the "mix" options. The effects happen at the exact same spot on the frequency range. The "mix" only affects how much each sound effect is amplified or reduced. The mixes are only affecting compression and EQ. The sound of a footstep on any given surface excites the same frequency on all mix settings. The difference then is where to add or subtract gain in order to emphasize the frequency you would like. Your first point touches on a lot of different variables. In regards to impedance - while this may be a relevant factor for a specific transducer, it's importance stops there. Meaning that a low impedance headphone may still require a lot of current to get substantial volume. A low impedance headphone can still be difficult to drive. No different than a high impedance headphone can still have a very sensitive driver and require very little voltage to get loud. My point being - impedance without the other variables is meaningless. If you factor in all the variables that matter - we now have to discuss volume and DR for all speakers - which is too deep a dive to be helpful in a video trying to help people highlight specific frequencies. I can tell you that my LCD-X with a very low impedance benefits from the same EQ strategies we discuss here as my high impedance Beyerdynamic headphones. Your point is an important one that volume and dynamic range matter. They matter a lot more on the mix settings that I did not recommend, that being one of the reasons why (in addition to non-beneficial EQ). I genuinely appreciate you checking out the video and taking the time to share some constructive criticism. Take care.
you are a HERO 💯 may I ask what q factor of 5 means? the part 1 video said a q factor of 1.2 at 125-150hz, so im a bit confused. im using a medium bass IEM cca c12( i think its medium bass)

Can you do a Warzone 3 update please
Man I’m bummed that you didn’t talk about Astro a40 eq settings
I hear you. I'm reaching out to them requesting a sample unit so I can start to include them in my results.
I appreciate your work thank you

Take care.
I use Schiit Modi & Magni (Amp and DAC) and just change the hertz for me and it's all good.
Depends also if your using open or close back headphones
What are your thoughts, if any, on the use of compressors to hear footsteps louder? Or tools like ‘soundlock’?
they are always worth a try if you have them already. the more neutral your headphones FR, the better they tend to work.
you are a HERO 💯
may I ask what q factor of 5 means? the part 1 video said a q factor of 1.2 at 125-150hz, so im a bit confused.
im using a medium bass IEM cca c12( i think its medium bass)
can you do apex next if you can sir?
