They actually explain this bit in the movie. Despite her powers having huge potential, she got placed in the "sidekick" class since it was the 70's and personal computers were barely a thing. She wasn't remembered because nobody cared about her. She was a sidekick, a loser, a nobody. That's also why she became a super villain in the first place, she resented the super hero community for both mistreating her and underestimating her.

I was "Laser Eyes" in this movie. I got frozen a few times. It was a blast to work on. Working on Sky High felt like being back in high school gym class. All the extras and actors were goofing around, flirting, playing games for most of the shoot. The production would bring in most of the talent in whether the actor was shooting that day or not. So the typical day was 99% waiting and maybe 1% shooting. Plenty of time for people to get in trouble. I don't remember the names of the AD's and PA's on that movie but, I'm so sorry for being a trouble maker back then. Looking back I was a pain in the butt. It’s amazing how the main kid’s parents are seen as the best heroes even when they have the most generic super powers imaginable, although they are the only adult heroes seen doing any actual superhero work so maybe it’s just lack of competition.

I haven't seen Sky High in a LONG time, it's one of those movies that came and went, and didn't get the fanfare it deserved until YEARS after it came out, similar to Megamind. I mean, the concept of a superhero school is something you could make an entire ongoing series about it... which makes me wonder if Kohei Horikoshi saw this movie and took inspiration from it when making My Hero Academia. Speaking of which, you compared Warren Peace to Bakugo, when he's actually closer to Todoroki in not only terms of personality, but also right down to having a troubled relationship with his dad.

Honestly I loved the scene with the nurse explaining how some supers kids can have one or more powers or sometimes very rarely none at all.
Now apply that to My hero academia and it could fit in it really well.

I haven't seen Sky High in a LONG time, it's one of those movies that came and went, and didn't get the fanfare it deserved until YEARS after it came out, similar to Megamind. I mean, the concept of a superhero school is something you could make an entire ongoing series about it... which makes me wonder if Kohei Horikoshi saw this movie and took inspiration from it when making My Hero Academia.
Speaking of which, you compared Warren Peace to Bakugo, when he's actually closer to Todoroki in not only terms of personality, but also right down to having a troubled relationship with his dad.
