I was mocked for being a ‘city girl’ and never made one friend in the horse community. As funny as some jokes are, Making fun of people for not having horse experience is just immature , horses are large and can be intimidating to people with no experience ... let’s share knowledge and show his wonderful the world of horses can be . “I was on a trail ride once and the horse wouldn’t walk through the creek.”
      “Oh yeah horses -“
“He obviously didn’t wanna get wet.”
“...if you’d let me finish you’d know horses have terrible depth perception.”
“Well he probably also didn’t wanna get wet. He hates water. I could tell.”
      Or:
“So I was with my horse -“
      “I saw a horse once!”
“...ok great. So I was grooming him -“
      “Horses are beautiful.”
“...yeah. So I was saying -“
“I’d really like to ride some day.”

I once saw a video where this equestrian accidentally taught their horse to gallop when she said “ONWARDS STEED!” It was pure ridiculousness and I loved it. In July I’m going to a horse camp so I am going to try desperately teach the horse I’m riding to do that. Although the trip is short, even if I don’t teach the horse, I’m still going to say “Onwards steed!” when riding.

That last bit is relatable. I was on a trail ride once and these people were talking about all the times they’ve ridden and whatnot, and then one of them literally fell because their horse trotted at a mild uphill slope. I get falling, but if you’re going to pretend you’re the best rider ever then I have every right to laugh at you.

2:22 My friend acts like that too! Like, she'll say "I've ridden before! I was galloping!" Like gurl, riding is NOT about being able to sit on a horse without falling off! Riding is about being able to control and understand a horse, and sometimes straight-up expect getting thrown off.
Edit: Even though I've kept on telling her she can't ride (I've seen her riding she does everything wrong.) she still gets offended and still keeps saying that "I'm also a rider." I'm getting so enraged at her sometimes.

I actually enjoyed that part. I can imagine someone who is new to the equine world being baffled by our 'foreign' language we use. If someone who has horses says that one of them is lame, people who don't know anything about horses will literally think they're saying the horse isn't cool. 😂

Ha ha ha that was so funny when she was trying to lift up the hoof. Actually the whole episode was funny.
It reminded me back when I , as an assistant, was helping a beginner on the trail ride who was only about a third grader said, help my horse is running away !! and actually the horse was walking slowly toward the grass. I told her she has control over the course.

My mother in law came to a show to watch my daughter ride and she said some crackers. She told me the rising to the trot looked like a work out and she preferred the style of riding where you just sit. Like how she "used to ride". She also couldnt understand what the judge was looking for in the trotting category and asked if it was about speed.

I wear beige around the yard because I genuinely don't mind it getting dirty, if I have a show I'll wash it & don't kid me that if I wore black clothes to word that were caked in mud, people wouldn't notice. Today I was wearing black trousers & I didn't even go to the stables, I was cycling along the trail & part of it was blocked by a rockfall so I had to go around. The diversion was muddy & I got it on me. When I made it into work, people asked where I'd been. I wasn't wearing anything white.

For geldings, if it’s an appropriate audience, I just put it bluntly. For young audiences, I.. kinda... wing it. I don’t usually know how to respond so I just move on most of the time or say, “yep. He’s my gelding.”

It annoyed me when the girl said "I have been around a horse once on vacation and I was riding a black stallion, and it was easy." In my head I was like "girl, you haven't really ridden a real horse. The ones at the trail riding barns are robot horses and do everything you ask, and clearly you haven't ridden a real stallion before 😂." It's a pet peeve of mine when people say riding is easy. There's a lot of strength and communication that goes into riding.
