I think minor correction about Drones is that it doesn't take a hundred(s) to destroy a target. The ancients were a fan of overkill (or at the very least, ensuring what they wanted dead would be). The Orion destroyed a Hive Ship with what looked like a few dozen drones. The Traveller Aurora was able to destory an Asuran Aurora with just 3 drones (the rest were intercepted) And O'Neill destroyed a Ha'tak with just 2 Drones.
@@johnmccartan939 yea I remember that episode but still only two drones to destroy a Ha'tak, I think that's a bit to op. With that logic just one city ship fully loaded with two thousand drones and 3 ZMPs could take the whole combined forces of every Goa'uld ship ever. I get that drones and the Ancients in general were supposed to be op and Im fine with that. But the only problem I have is that the Wraith were able to beat the Ancients. Even with more numbers the Ancients should have been able to win very easily. John Green 1 year ago I strongly agree. The Aurora-class battleship: stargate.fandom.com/wiki/Aurora-class_battleship is a really great design that's armed to the teeth. It's a shame the Tauri weren't able to get their hands on many of these ships aside from the Aurora, the Orion, and of course the Traverlers unnamed Aurora class Atlantean Battleship (which all of these ships were used for a short time and were unfortunately destroyed in battle).
Captain lets put it this way when star trek ended in the 2000s stargate was my sci-fi show...i recently rewatched sg-1 and fell back in love its a great series its a series that deserves more love
This is the first time, somone really tries to build a model of this ship getting every single detail shown in the series right. And you nailed it. This is by far the best one ever built, and I am glad you did. Now, to my opinion on it: What I really love, is its overall shape, its geometrical form. It really fits and makes a great design fitting with Ancient design. What I do not like is it's hull. It's great if you take it as standalone, BUT it simply doesn't fit into the design of this time period of the ancients. They love geometrical shapes, crystal looks, look at the first Atlantis model, look at the puddle jumpers. And in this one, there are only a few elements barely seen (in the red platings, actually) showing this design- it basically looks like it's got stripped of it's hull, revealing the tech under it. I appreciate the work and love for the detail- but I think, they went a little bit overboard in this case. I would love to see this one with the typical ancient hull design mounted on it....
Just from quality of writing and how they depict spaceflight it is already in the top three for me and if they pull off the coming seasons well it will be a solid first place.
You probably dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
This comment will be speculation. The bridge on the Aurora Class likely has hidden consoles under the floor. The SGA episode "The Return" has a scene where a console pushed up from the floor in reaction to an Ancient (they didn't explain exactly how). At this point, the Atlantis team had been there for over 3 years and it took them by surprise. They had no idea it was there. So i speculate the Aurora likely has similar hidden consoles, which could explain the excessive floor space.
A really nice looking ship from one of my favourite shows, no wonder I got some screen grabs of it on my screen saver. And yes, Captain Foley should take some time off and just cram all of Stargate, it's that great.

The thing I love about this ship design is that it looks functional and built to a purpose. So many Sci-Fi ships look like the designer was a bit to fond of LSD and forgot what the ship was intended to be used for.
I like the idea that we've advanced so far technologically that practical issues just aren't as important as creative expression. What are you on about?
The wraith hive is about 12 to 13 times the length of the deadalus. About 8400m in length.
The Aurora class is about 1200m long. Just under twice the length of deadalus.
@@nihilityjoey Massive. Thanks for the reply!
Something about the scale still seems off to me.
We see the Daedalus hovering next to one of Atlantis's peirs. Yet an Aurora is as long as Atlantis (Pier to Pier), maybe a bit longer so this has me confused.
I believe that atlantis is about 3 km and Aurora is 2 km (episode 10 season 4 of atantis) and the Daedalus is 500 meters
The flaw in your argument is you think the designers properly thought through if everything would fit when they created the original scale. Half the ships in Sci-Fi are TARDIS like.
So the Earth ships doubled in size and the ancient ship more than halved?
What do you mean?
I love the ship design but it feels a bit old to be an ancient ship. Just look at the puddle jumper, Atlantis and other tech and their war ships look out of place
How big is the Aurora online it has down at 3000 - 3500m in length but other poeple say its on 875m in length (stargate is all over with its sizes)
Stargate isnt all over the place with its sizes. The "official" magazine never consulted the show makers for specifics and made sizes up. And fans ran with that because it states "official". This is the tv model so the length is accurate to what is shown. It's not the show.
The ship is 3500 meters long.
