  • The MSR Reactor® Stove system is billed as the world’s fastest, most fuel-efficient all-condition stove system. It worked pretty well in my test and the optional coffee press makes some good camp coffee.

    I have been using MSR Reactor for more than 10 years now, I like it so much that I bought the 1 litre pot too. Not once it failed on me. Strongly recommended.

    I've had the Reactor stove system for years. I love it. I won't use "an open flame" canister stove anymore. The Windburner is on my list of hiking gear to get this year or next year (it's low on the list). I'm so happy someone was THINKING when they made the Reactor and Windburner stove systems. I get sick and tired of the excuse "this is the way we've always done it." The Reactor and Windburner stove systems are really awesome at what they are designed to do: boil water. I use less fuel, it takes less time, and the system really shines in inclement weather. So, if you are a fair weather camper/hiker, maybe the Reactor and Windburner stove systems are overkill for those pristine sunny days.

    We get to literally enjoy Saturday morning coffee with Survival on Purpose. I've had a competitor's version of this for 5 years. Bought it to stick in my hunting pack. I'll make oatmeal and other dehydrated meals with it and I have their coffee press because the 16 oz. thermos of coffee never seems to get me through the day. It amazes me how efficient these stoves are. I can put my hands around the base of the pot (within a 1/2 inche, but not touching) and you can barely feel any heat from it.

    This is nice as long as you carry fuel with you. Me I still use a wood fired stove because camping there's fuel everywhere. This was a nice review and well explained, a great video.

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose
      @SurvivalOnPurpose  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Whatever works. This is a LOT faster than a wood stove, doesn't get soot on your gear and many areas do not allow wood fires due to dry conditions. But your points are valid. It is about choices and it is good we have so many .

    Great system really to high priced for average person

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose
      @SurvivalOnPurpose  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess that depends on what you mean by average. I know "average' people who spend that much in one month on beer and cigarettes. Or Fancy coffee, soft drinks and junk food, etc. I'm not saying this is a cheap system. It is not. Just pointing out an observation about choices and priorities. Someone who places a high priority on backpacking and camping in their life might consider this a great price for the level of quality. I just try to show a range of gear at different price points.

    Absolute crap . Mines only good for boiling water . Being a jet boil type it will weld food to the pot . I cant simmer stuff in mine theres NO flame controll other than full steam ahead . And it extinguishes itself if i try simmering anything .. for £160 . Its a kick in the nads , the jet boil stoves focus the flame to the middle of the centre of the pot ... so you will trash more food than you cook . Go for ground level folding stoves with wide flame and controll over the flame for cooking . And will work on several types of pan . These tall cookers are very limiting in their use . Im dissapointed in mine to a point i use my old vango
