- A tribute to Ted and Tracy's love on How I Met Your Mother.
Ted's Speech to the Mother in "The Time Travelers" is one of my favorite scenes, especially when taking in light Tracy's current condition.
I wanted to incorporate that speech into different flashbacks from throughout the show along with Cristin Milioti's rendition of La Vie en Rose - บันเทิง
They honestly should have just gave us the mother for a season and watched them progress and get married. Everyone would feel a lot better about everything.

+Dan Jerusalem ikr... A shame there are some people who can't see this and they're criticising this show just because it didn't end like they had hoped it would.
+Dan Jerusalem Not really, in the episode where Ted finds out about his parents' separation he says "when I have kids and I tell them how I met their mother, I'm gonna tell them everything, the whole damn story" even down to the minute details after realising he never even knew how his parents met which at the time made the premise seem reasonable enough.
Funnily enough, that's also the episode where Ted and Robin basically realise that they don't connect on any fundamental level.
Cristin Milioiti really was perfect for the role of the mother a natural fit, I just wish the writers would of made season 9 all about her instead of half of it being stupid filler episodes.
Do you even watch the whole finale ? You should know that even the children pointed it out that all Ted story (the whole season) Ted mostly just talked about how he spend times with his friend and Robin and little about the mother since they basically knew her their entire life,just because we didn't get the season of their life doesn't mean it's not there,think how the children said to Ted then you will understand like really understand.

I've watched it twice now, its nothing short of a rollercoaster
That and the part when the mom says to Ted " of course she showed up to her wedding, what kind of mother wouldn't show up to her daughter's wedding" and then Ted instantly starts crying. I almost cried when I rewatched those 2 episodes and understood what they meant.

I fell in love with Tracy. I was really disappointed in the last episode, especially when the kids were so enthusiastic about having their father go back to Robin. Basically felt like a big fuck you towards their dead mother. Plus I never liked how Robin treated Ted, the only time Robin thought she loved Ted was when she saw him with a girlfriend. Ted and Robin will probably get married and divorced like her first marriage....
Robin only wanted Ted for emotional support and things like that. I've experienced that with girls and once they get over what ever they're facing, they leave you for a person like Barney (not saying he isn't awesome but I have a point here). I loved the first episode of season 8 when Klaus was describing Victoria as almost perfect but not quite. By the end of the show when Ted FINALLY meets Tracy I fell in love with her, too. This is my all time favorite show because it teaches you about love. There are four types of women you date before you meet the one. There is the emotionally scarred(Robin), the one who leaves you(Stella), the crazy psycho(Zoey and Jeanette), and finally the one(TRACY!!). So it broke my heart when she dies but there's still something great about the bittersweet ending. It teaches you about how life really is in the end. I'll miss the hell out of this show, for it was truly amazing!! I love you, Tracy!!!!
Lucas Harper But you forgot one thing - Robin met with Ted one year. Therefore, here "Robin only wanted Ted for emotional support and things like that" word "only" would be superfluous. Robin did not choose between Ted and Barney. She rejected Ted for the same reasons because of which broke up with Kevin.
Your words about the relationship between the characters has little to do with the show.

I knew she was dead in 2030, after old Ted said he would want those extra 45 days with her...
I really think the ending would of been perfect had they not mention Robin and kinda kept the conversation at when Tracy died. Like it could of emphasized this epic adventure of happiness and just a love failure he had and just basically a life long lesson that he never once did have a fairy tail of love. Very sad but happy at the same time. Makes you want to cry tears of joy. BUT NOOOO THOSE STUPID CHILDREN FUCKED IT UP

CrazyOreo ok i know it has been 6 months, but you have to watch the deleted scenes... there is a scene where robin tells ted she loves him, and ted says that he's sorry, but she's too late. He tells her that he loves tracey... it shows that tracey was the women of his life and that he just moved on with his life. But if tracey would still be alive that he would still be with her

Robin used Ted when it suited her & when she realized that Barney was never long term material. She only ever wanted him when he was happy with someone else. Selfish & cruel. The Mother, however, loved Ted consistently throughout & made him so happy. I wish they hadn't deleted the finale scene where Robin tries to hint that she wants Ted back & he shoots her down saying he's happy with Tracy- the actual love of his life, not Robin-Hey-You're-In-A-Beautiful-Relationship-I-Must-Have-You-Scherbatsky.

I mean it's okay to end it with Tracy died, but that last scene where Ted went back to Robin, man..... The whole 9 seasons taught us that Robin is no good at long term relationships and settling down. Poor Ted.....

I'm 32, and never been married. I've been looking all my life for "her". A friend of mine told me about this show, and I've been hooked. I relate so closely to Ted, because I'm just like him. I'm on his journey, just in real life. Now, i can't help but have my heart drop seeing Tracy die. Now I want to scream at the top of my lungs "Why? What's the point!!??" What if that's in store for me? What if the woman I've searched for since I was 15 is simply going to die young and leave me alone again?

Tears (again). Tracy is just so adorable and it was so believable that Ted would fall for such a girl. They were perfect for the time it lasted. Thank you for putting this together.
Both of them got to be with their first love. Ted got to be with Robin and when Tracy died she got to be with Max. It was bitter sweet.

I still can't believe Tracy died... She was a great character, even though she wasn't in a lot of the episodes

it was a long and difficult road but I'm glad it was long and difficult, because if i hadn't gone through hell to get there, the lesson had might not have been as clear you see kids, right from the moment I met her mother knew I had to love this woman as much asi can, from as long as I can and i can never stop loving her, not even for a second. I carried that lesson with me through every stupid fight that we ever had, every 5 a.m. Christmas morning, every sleepy Sunday afternoon through every speed bump, through every pan of jealousy, or boredom or uncertainty that came our way, I carried that lesson with me. And I carried it with me when she got sick. Even then, in what can only whith called the worst of times, all I could do was look at her and thank God, thank every god there is, or ever was, or will be, and the whole universe, and anyone else i can possibility thank ...that i saw that beautiful girl on that train platform and I had the guts to stand up, walk over to her, tap her on the shoulder, open my mouth and speak. thanks how i met your mother ;)
That's not fair. Tracy won my heart over so quickly and then we kept her for such a short time only to hear that she dies! That's not fair!

this is and still is my favorite show of all time and even tho i didn't agree with the ending this show still teaches you the lessons of life. Better to love and lost then to never loved at all. Even so the ending made me mad lol.

Why this ending is more realistic to life. Although it would've been much better if they didn't ruin all the other character development in this episode though.

They built up robin and barneys relationship for 8 seasons,they showed us ted letting go of robin for 8&1/2 seasons,they showd us barney in a nice human being and one entire season was about barney and robins weddind.Only to be like "lets screw this in the last 40 minutes.FUCK CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!TED AND ROBIN BEST COUPLE EVAAAR!!!"
I just finished the series for the first time and I'm crying like a baby
Everyone is so mad because of Ted ending up with Robin. i have read "if you loved Tracy so much why did you stay with Robin?" and stuff like that. I hated the ending at the beginning, it's just a horrible thing to accept so quickly. And in a show we are always expecting the happy ending. But that's why i loved it. It wasn't THE happy ending.. it was life. Ted LOVED Tracy, and if she wouldn't have died, then he would have never wanted to go back with Robin. All the anger is because you learn it all in like 5 minutes. But think about it.. in real life
He met Robin and fell in love with her. You can't blame him, you don't choose to whom fell in love with. Thing didn't worked up, but she was at that time the love of his life even when he tried to move on. Then he met Tracy, this beautiful woman to whom, he realized, he couldn't love more. His REALLY true love. I bet he would have never imagine being with someone else (not even with Robin) having Tracy at his side. And then the sadly passed away.. it was heartbreaking. They both (Ted and Tracy) knew she was going to leave soon, and she could see how shattered he was. She told him (i don't remember the exactly words) that she was worried about him. that she didn't want him to live in his stories, but to live them.
It took him 6 years since Tracy left them when he finally could recover and be the Ted he always had been. The Ted who moves forward and seeks happiness. Of course he never stop loving Robin. She wasn't the love of his life (maybe in some way she was, i mean she was quite important to him) but she definitely wasn't his TRUE love. But he still loved her, in some way, she always was important to him. They always knew why they didn't worked out. they were seeking two completely different paths. two completely different lifestyles. At this point he knew they where at the same plane. They could accompany each other in the remainder of their lives. Why wouldn't they? The majority of people are very afraid to take a leap so risky. But that was always Ted. He never gave up or was too afraid of taking the risk.
Isn't it life like that after all? to find those people who make us happy and go through life beside them? what should have Ted to do? just nothing? when he knew he could be happier than he was? why people is suppose to be like that?

3:07-3:15 gets me every time... When I first watched it, I didn't think much of it, but after watching it again, I realized that Ted is crying because Tracy is sick or dying. I cried like a baby watching it again

Ted is crying because Tracy tells asks him what kind of mother would miss her daughter's wedding day after Robin's mother showed up to Robin's wedding. Then Ted looks at Tracy because he knows that Tracy will die before she can see their daughter get married.

Ted always does everything for the one he loves. Ted, you've guided me through so much. And seeing this ending. I know that you are happy because your back with your first love. Thanks for sharing this with us. I so identify with Ted Mosby. My last girlfriend was exactly like Robin. I met a woman this week. Like Tracy and Ted we have everything in common. She even likes the Renaissance fair but what feels like the universe or fate is when she said to her friend how she wanted to be found. Seeing this video and hearing Tracy say those exact words sent a chill through me. Thanks

Really good video. Heartbreaking story that was clearly build up to. The scene at 3:09 especially when Tracy says « What mother is gonna miss her daughters wedding?» you just see Ted is breaking down in tears. They are then in the year 2024, which is the same year as she passed away.
Funny how its been already 6 years and everytime i watch tracy and ted's scenes i always cry.
Watching this show was the best month of my life.... in my mind Tracy is still alive and everything is perfect :)

Probably because Tracy didn't want Ted to live in the past... like she told him at Farhampton a couple of weeks, maybe months prior to her death. And maybe because Robin will always remember Ted of Tracy, because she was the sole reason they met at all.

Marcelle Nowicki that's a good approach I didn't think of, however I think many people is pissed at this ending cause HIMYM was an hilarious comedy (with some sensitive moments) and that sad sudden ending was like a kick in the balls.
One year ago started watching this tv show. Last night I watched the last episode. I identify myself with Ted's searching for the love of his life. I founded mine in 2014. I am also an architect and my girl, who is now my wife, also was born in 1985, as Tracy. There are many similarities. I am kind of devastated for the end. Thanks for making this video!!

This show brought me many tears and happiness, I'm sad that it ended, and I'm even sadder that the mother died so soon, and he ended up with Robin, Ted and Tracy were perfect for each other and I wish the series just ended there. Maybe after a few episodes with the gang.
Oh, and also don't try to sell me that crap about Ted and Tracy ending up with their "first love" Robin and Max, because True love trumps First love every time.

Ever since the finale of the show, just knowing that everything he was saying was because he knew about the death of Tracy and now it all makes sense. The scene where he ran to her apartment and asked for the extra 45 days with her, I couldn't stop crying because I now understand what that meant to him. Just imagine the pain of losing the one person that fate had pulled you to be with. Through out the whole series, I was 100% able to relate to his situations and found myself being a Ted Mosbey. But knowing that future having that actual connection to the character ... it just broke me. I'd give this video much more likes but I can only give it one :( How I Met Your Mother will be my all tome favourite TV series!

I absolutely love this show. It is my favorite series ever. I also loved the ending. It's a happy ending but it's also not. It's an ending perfect fit for life. I wish we could've got more Tracy and Ted screen time but at the same time I wouldn't change a thing. The series took us on so many emotional rides and turns. Thank you for everything HIMYM. I'll never not enjoy watching the episodes, even if sometimes it's for the 20th time
