    Carly is so smart, but imagine the struggles with being misunderstood and judged. She is strong too.

    I work with autistic kids, one of my kids cant speak. I am desperately searching for ways to help him unlock his power to communicate. This video bring tears to my eyes because I know there is hope now.

      I'm into the same in my work. This is mind blowing. Im so happy to understand more now, but i had a strong feeling its this way. We just do not know how to understand this and how to help them their way out in the inner mess they have. The theory books need to be rewritten. Awsome.

    I am the editor who put this story together for ABC a few years ago. At the time she had a blog and communicated with a lot of folks on the spectrum. My daughter is also on the spectrum so it was an inspiring story to tell. Google search, autistic carly canada, and you will find a link I found connected to her blog. All the best to you and yours. Hart

    This was a few years ago now and I am happy to see how this story positively effects people. I was just the editor of the story and I am always inspired by this family.

    This is so heart warming 🥲🥹 my daughter also has autism, she is 8 years old & she doesn’t speak full sentences, only 1-3 words, she also types 1-4 words but not full sentences. She is progressing 🥰 I can’t wait until the day I’m able to “meet” my child as well & have full conversations with her. I can’t wait to know what’s in her head ❤

Keep up the good work you are doing! You are helping in more ways than you know! I can't wait till your novel is out I want to read it so bad! My daughter is 11.5 years old with Cri du Chat syndrome Plus Autism and deaf and hard of hearing. I hope to see more videos that you do! You are such a true inspiration! Thank YOu!

    I cried when I saw this. I cried because I understand her because I have ASD, too. I also cried because I am happy for her finding her voice and because she knows that she is great. I have ASD, too, although I do verbalise. I think it's awesome that she found her voice, too, and that she advocates for those with ASD. She is awesome.

    I saw her on the Doctors a few months back she has helped me in ways that she may never know! I work with special needs children and families also my god son has downs and autism. I would get so frustrated and sad because I wanted to understand better. Carly has show us what doctors, therapist, teachers, seminars and workshops never could. She has helped our brains better understand what my angles are feeling!

    It was really cool to hear right from her why she covers her ears and rocks etc. My 5 year old son always covers his ears, he is also autistic. Even when nothing was loud.

    There much more going on inside of Carly's head, than she can express. It's important to think of autism as a Different Ability, instead of a disability.

    • @youknowimright1725
      @youknowimright1725 ปีที่แล้ว

    I also have Asperger Syndrome, and, although my Autism is not always as hard for me to deal with as Carly's may be for her, it is still hard at times, because I have some difficulty getting my point across to other people in a way they will understand and accept.

    You know she hasn't been heard from for years, it's kind of crazy it seems like her father did something to her (or more accurately didn't believe her when she told him his friend assaulted her) and then he kinda silenced her

    Serious question, Is down syndrom considered a higher functioning disability than autism?

    • @VanillaVictini
      @VanillaVictini 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it is not, but it honestly depends on how "severe" it is.

    • @danieltaylor5371
      @danieltaylor5371 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is not a black or white question. as so few little are

    • @stephenowesney5173
      @stephenowesney5173 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not. Downsyndrome is definitionally a genetic disorder of intelligence. Where as autism doesn't always affect intelligence.

  • @BLohr707
    @BLohr707 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    What diagnoses was removed from her record?

    • @BentStigsen
      @BentStigsen 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They mention that Carly used to be dismissed as "mentally impaired". I don't know if that is the actual medical term used in diagnosis, but the equivalent of that is probably it.
      Happens all too often, even without an actual diagnosis, that people are dismissed as mentally impaired, just because they can't communicate "properly".

      Sorry to say that there are serious concerns about her well-being. Early in 2019 she posted that she had been sexually assaulted by her father's boyfriend. There have been a couple of posts on her social media since then but it's not clear whether they're from her. celebrationgeneration.com/wheres-carly/
