Always been in love with this one. No great voice but so much mood in it - and more than one thing to say. Great wort of art! And I can't help it, but I love saxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!!!!!!!
First time I saw him around 1983-84 he opened for the Eurythmics at the Greek Theater in Hollywood. He was on stage all alone surrounded by his equipment. Then he had this odd mime guy doing strange things on stage. Like crawling around on his belly wearing a huge lizard tail.
For anyone who is interested, a collectors edition of the 12" album is now available for pre-order from the Howard Jones website. Its a bit pricey at £25, but comes with two bonus CD's of further extended version and mixes. Gome mine ordered today :)
An anecdote about this song: I was influenced to hear 'China Town' instead of 'Shadows" - which were the actual lyrics, I was sure ! China Town had no meaning at all, but it was THE joke. Not so funny now, I must admit...
