Amazing video, Jeffrey. Love all the context you provide in the beginning about ReMarkable/Boox and also the context you provide about Viwoods and their market position. You are making the best ereader content right now and really appreciate your hard work
I loved it and for me one of the best home page ever from any inkbook I see ..I’m actually in remarkable working very nice the only big issue is my agenda reminding me some recurring monthly tasks and that’s terrible knowing the price
Good E-Reader is the only channel who’re guaranteed to get every product to look at so I watch purely for the sake of seeing what’s available. For actual reviews I go to other places, such as your good self, because I just cannot stand their style or manner of ‘review’.
Agreed. Good e-reader is nothing more than a shopfront for every device. There’s very little critical thought put into the pros and cons of the devices.
@@1967dragonaxe it’s also the fact they seem to not even care that much about the videos themselves. They’re filled with the reviewer stumbling over words, rambling and fluff, they seem to be done in one take and often use specialist terms or fancy language seemingly on the hoof and it either just doesn’t make sense or is in the wrong context.
Great video Jeffrey! Yeah, it appears that Google logins just don't work yet on the Viwoods. Probably meant you couldn't login to kobonthis way. Fingers crossed they will solve that as it's a necessity for many people!
Thank you as always, Kit. I reached out and apparently the device is not Google certified at this time. But I was able to log in by creating traditional credentials. I'm happy to say the app works great. I've been playing with the AI features and I am probably having the most fun I've had with a device in a long time. Not all AI features make sense, and they range from completely useless to effective, but the whole process has been a blast to explore! This company has some work to do, but I like what I'm seeing so far.
I was surprised that you didn't try the Kindle app to see if it allowed a login. Enjoyed the video. I am a little hesitant to order one after watching this. The hepatic buttons give me concern about holding it to read books. I also don't understand why these companies insist on putting a power button, a USB port, or something right where you would place fingers on the bottom to hold it. Put the dang power button on the back like Kobo or on the top. Put the USB port on the side. I don't want to feel anything but bezel when holding a device, period! I swear these engineers who design the hardware never use these kinds of devices. I don't care how good software is if the device isn't extremely comfortable to hold for long periods.
@@philologus6577 I usually wait to log into the Kindle app because my Amazon password is fairly gory. But I did eventually do that and it logged in just fine. Kobo worked once I established standard credentials and didn't use Google to log in. The buttons haven't been an issue for me thus far, but I'm still testing and will see how it goes. I don't mind the power button. My pet peeve is when the power button is on the direct opposite side of the USB-C port, so in order to brace the device to insert the cable my hand naturally goes to where the power button is (I'm looking at you reMarkable). Thankfully that isn't the case here.
I haven't heard about being able to sideload Google Play Books, but that doesn't necessarily mean it can't happen. But I would think they would have protections on the files that would prevent that.
During the notes with AI part you asked it about European dragons. Three weeks ago the GoodeReader review also referenced dragons in their notes with AI demonstration. Did Viwoods ask you to request something about dragons? That’s too weird a coincidence…are Viwoods subtly controlling these review videos?
That's funny, I watched the GoodEReader video and don't recall that aspect. Just a coincidence. If you look closely in my videos, you can see Dragons all over my study. I have 7 on my desk alone, although only one tends to feature more than the others based on my camera angles. If you look at my coat of arms, the upper right square also features a green dragon. I've also written some fantasy novels and grew up with D&D, so that's the actual connection. No mention of dragons from Viwoods at all.

I really appreciate that. Thank you.
you are SUPER comprehensive with this and it's really appreciated. got yourself a subscriber.

Yeah, pretty much the same with me. I like GoodEReader for Eink news I can't get anywhere else and product demos. For reviews, not so much.

side note, Jeffrey -- does this have the same Carta 1300 screen as "Viwoods Sr."?
No, it's different. The website says is a Carta 1000 screen with 297ppi. Also, there is no Mobius element to it.
@@jeffreymoss boo. thanks -- really hoping we see an A6-sized device with Carta 1300 soon.
I’d buy it if the 10 inch had the front light
5:18 Wow, did not realise Remarkable sold so much in comparison!
2hrs for an update is quite long😲. Thanks for the review.
Thanks.
Is it possible to sideload Google Play Books? I wonder why they selected Carta 1000 screen, if the larger model is Carta 1300?
