One was the bengali word and the other the urdu word. Bangladesh being islamic country uses a lot of urdu words related to and during religious practices (because the religious texts were originally written in arabic and later translated to urdu in indian subcontinent)

There are 316,000 words in Turkish and only 6,000 of these words are in Arabic. Additionally, many Arabic words have Turkish alternatives, but due to the influence of Islam, the actual Turkish words are not preferred very often. At the same time, there are 4,000 French words in Turkish. This does not mean that we can understand French!!

    • @muharremacar5255
      @muharremacar5255 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +114

Let me to shed light on this. Firstly, Turks here can't understand any language other than Azerbaijani. However, understanding, if it means just uttering common words to survive, changes things there. Most words borrowed from French are not related to daily life. The majority of French loanwords were adopted in the late Ottoman period. For instance, the names of most items in the bedroom are in French because those items entered our lives in the late Ottoman era. But the words we borrowed from Arabic and Persian are used in our daily lives. For example, if we consider the most common phrase in daily life, the word "life"(hayat) is Arabic, the word "daily"(günlük) is not Arabic, but when an Arab says "El-Hayatül Yevmiyye," we easily understand what it means. Because even though the word "Yevmiyye" is not frequently used in Turkish, it still exists. So, I didn't need to explain this in such detail actually. When a Turk tunes in to a French television channel, they won't hear many familiar words (excluding common English words), but when tunes in to Arab channel, they will hear many familiar words(even if he cannot understand because of accent and fast speech). Similarly, when an Arab or an Iranian watches a Turkish television channel, they will hear a lot of familiar words.
Setting aside these facts and making a personal comment, I can say that what makes Turkish a magnificent language is precisely this richness. It has borrowed words from many languages and having many words to describe a concept over time has enabled us to better name the subtle details in definitions. For example, while an English speaker says "Love," we can use words like Aşk, sevgi, sevi, sevda, muhabbet, and many other words that don't come to mind right now. Another example, while the word "old" in Arabic is "kadim," we can use both "eski" and "kadim" for "old" in Turkish. Thanks to this richness, we use the word "kadim" for very old and valuable things, while we use "eski" in daily life. For instance, we say "eski çorap" (old socks) but we don't say "kadim çorap." We can say "kadim öğreti" (ancient teachings), "kadim şehirler" (ancient cities). In Arabic, someone might say "kadim çorap" because "kadim" is a word used in daily life. This is what makes Turkish a tremendously rich language and allows concepts to form a spectrum within themselves.

    şahıs: person, individual
Also in Azerbaijani, the word kişi means "man" (male)
Aseman, "sky" in Persian is used in Turkish as a personal female name: Asuman. Same for "Sema", it's a personal female name.
Cihan (I think it's rendered "jahan" in the others) is an old fashioned word in Turkish that is also used as a personal name, this time a male name. Yer is also used in Turkish, but it means "floor" or "ground". Sometimes means "earth" (as the planet), but for that mostly we use "yerküre" (literal meaning "earth-globe")
That word for knife "chaku" in Hindi and Bengali caught my attention, because in Turkish there's this word "çakı" which is used for pocket knives.

Facts about Persian language I felt like it was missing from the video:
    1. For the word "knife" we don't say [kard] as the Iranian girl said. [kard] is used only for "butter knife". The word for knife in persian is [chaghoo] which is similiar to the Hindi word.
    2. For the word "world" in persian traditionally we say [donya] and [jahan] which is pure persian. we also say [a'lam] which has arabic roots.
    3. For the word 'translation', in persian we 70% say [tarjomeh] which has arabic roots and the other word we use 30% of the times is [bargardan] which is pure persian.
    4. The reason the Eqypt girl saw similiarities in the word 'vegetables' between persian and arabic is because not only some 'words' are loadwords in persian but also some 'grammars' are borrowed from arabic at some time in Iran. Like the grammar for making plural words. (adding [at] at the end of a word) But these kind of grammars are considered as grammatical mistakes nowadays and we are thought to use original iranian grammar instead.
    5. Also about the word 'vegetables'. In Persian the only translation to this word is [sabzijat]. This word doesn't have a singular version. The word [sabzi] is another word with a different meaning. [sabzi] means herbs. We call the category of herbs like basil, parsley, mint,... [sabzi]. [sabzijat] is not the plural form of that word.
    6. For the word 'person' in Persian we say [a'dam], which has Hebrew roots and the words [shakhs], [fard], [ensan] all of them has arabic root. We also say [bashar] and [khalgh] which both i believe have arabic roots. I believe the pure persian word for [ensan] is [mardom]. Which means people in english but in old persian they used to use the word [mardom] for a person as well.
    7. For the word 'flower' nowadays we say this pure persian word [gol] but in old persian they used other words as well like [vardah] which is the root for the egyption word. Also in old persian when people used [gol] alone, they meant 'rose' exactly like how it is in turkish. The word [vardah] is the root of many other indo-europian languages word for rose. The transformation is something like varda -> wrodon -> rodon -> rodo -> rod -> rosa -> rose.
There are many technical explanations here but i won't get more into that.
Just, I wish you would choose a more knowledgeable person at least for Persian. Persian is a very old language with stronge roots in many other languages and it would be fun if the person you chose knew their own language at least to a reasonable stage. She didn't even mention obvious words like [donya]
[a'lam] [bashar] or even said the word [chaghoo] wrong. That was terrible to watch as an Iranian.

I think the Indian should have said both Sanskrit and Persian/Arabic words.
    1. Vyakti and Insaan (Person)
    2. Aakash and Aasmaan (Sky) - She did say both words
    3. Pushp and Phool (Flower) - She did say both words
    4. Vriksh and Ped (Tree) - None from Persian/Arabic, she said Ped
    5. Pustak and Kitab (Book)
    6. Chhuri and Chaaku (Knife) - She did say both words
    7. Shaak and Sabzi (Vegetable)
    8. Chhatri and Chhaata (Umbrella) - She did say both words
    9. Heera (Diamond) - From Sanskrit
    10. Sansaar and Duniya (World)
    11. Prarthna and Dua (Pray)
    12. Anuvaad (Translation) - From Sanskrit
JSYK, Hindi is officially written/spoken with Sanskrit loanwords and its grammar has evolved independently. However, due to the rule of Persian/Turkic rulers for centuries, many Persian and Arabic loanwords have entered the vocabulary and have become mainstream now. Still, the Sanskrit words have not died and are used as well. Many words don't have a Persian/Arabic alternative at all.
