That’s a pretty good range, the best DX I’ve had before was in lift conditions at 120 miles from my old QTH picking up a ship (Angel Zenith) in the channel down towards Le Havre in France. 😮

Very interesting video, I used to sail around roughs tower frequently. It used to have a deactivated oerlikon anti aircraft gun on the platform. And the owner at the time was very eccentric and had his own money and tried to declare it as another "country" if that is to be believed.

Cheers Steve, you’re thinking of Roy Bates by the sounds of it. I think his family still own it. One of my fellow members, Mike from the Harwich Radio Club lives and works on Sealand, two weeks on and two weeks off I think. There are quite a few videos about it on TH-cam. Check out the bosuns chair used to lift people on and off the platform, not for the faint hearted😧

I was told that, there was an attempted invasion at one time also talk of a casino etc. Not sure if any of the rumours were true tho.@2e0wmghamradioandkayaking85

it's a fun, even if you are "landlocked".
      1) there are many vessels and motorboats on rivers, including those of firefirefights, water rescue etc.
      2) often there is dx weather, giving you ionospheric reflections up to 2 times, AIS with more than 1000 miles is possible.
