    Nice and easy explanation. Just goes to show that you don’t need a million dollars of equipment to get on the air. Another great video

    Very much enjoyed and learned from what was presented here. Never tried POTA and been thinking I might.

    Great video once again. I was out portable today and forgot the one size spanner (wrench) that I needed to tighten the antenna bracket, I have now bought 3 adjustable ones and put in each separate kit so I am guaranteed to have one with me always.

      !!!!!!!! Hey it's great to see you on here! I have the same sort of mindset. Instead of swapping gear between bags, I've just started to double up, or triple up on what may be needed. Going to test a qrp rig in a few! Take care man! Hope you're well.

    Great video for those who live in a climate where you gave enough moisture . My ground Spike keeps breaking, I live in the desert Southwest so I always carry a bungee cord to keep my mast attached to a stump or tree.

      I just saw(after watching your second LD6 video) your video on forgetting gear thanks for sharing that. There are two types of people those that have forgotten gear and those that will. Thanks for sharing the mess ups along with the successes!

    I really like your videos!! The broken part on the ground spike, I had that problem with a paint pole. Laid the piece on its side, its not a pretty print but it is so much stronger with layers going up and down as opposed to round and round! The end fed you used.. where can I find the plan for that, there are many out there but it seems your stuff works the best. Thanks again! Keep up the great shows. Greetings from Canada!

    Thanks for the link to the Army field antenna manual. I have the Marine Corps antenna handbook (MCRP 3-40.3 C). I'm curious to see how they differ.

    I'm in the same boat as you,no antenna as living in a flat with no garden-i'm looking at radios and there doesn't seem to be anything that can compete with the FT891, possibly the FT710? Which one would you buy If buying today?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that the 710 is a fine radio?But I also failed to see where it fits in. I know others can clearly see where it fits in. However, I feel as if the 710 is going to be purchased.You might as well spend the extra money for the dx10. And maybe even consider the 991, which doesn't have as great as noise reduction and features, but it does have v h f and u h f.
      The 891 is basic, smaller and lighter. My next buy is the 891 digirig .

    No ATU or SWR meter?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sometimes I carry an swr meter, if I'm testing. Otherwise, not so much. I can make do without one after multiple trial runs. ATU, not really. I carry a piece of paracord with knots in it for 40-10

    I have a suggestion…if you are going to add a comment overlay…give it another few seconds on the overlay. Its hard to read quickly, especially when you throw in a bunch of equations.

      Thanks for the input! I was using Nylon 230, which was not rigid enough. I would find the threads to shift around and eventually separate from the Nylon. I can setup my printer to do some 100a TPU and try it out! Thanks!
