Wow this is totally a good method to solve the Rubik's cube, I searched because a friend used on a local comp and got very good times, we were surprised whe he told us how he solves the Rubik's cube
Would doing EO first be any good? I’m a ZZ solver and I’m wondering if you can do APB like this: EOLine Left Block Make and insert pair LXS ZBLL Would doing it like this be any good? It avoids the difficult slice finger tricks in EOPair and also give a more ergonomic first step?
We have considered this and short answer: it’s worse. Doing EO first does limit how far you can plan in inspection. You don’t want to avoid the slice finger tricks because they become very fast and allow for some very efficient solutions (so much so they even get used in CFOP OLL and PLL nowadays). There are also problems with switching between R/L turning which is a common thing in ZZ solving. Making and inserting the pair without solving anything else is more wasteful and at that point you’re better off just doing regular ZZ or squall. Also I don’t think EOLine>Left Block is more ergonomic than FB>DFDB
I do zzct with a sub 8 average, going to try apb for a bit because I want to see if its more ergonomic. Im always trying to find the most ergonomically sound method because i suffer from carpal tunnel. Anyways, good video; everything seems pretty straightforward. I may start learning lxs out of the gate though since I already know zbll and roux first block.

Is this really the best way to follow after the 2x2x3 block? Why not solve the last cross piece along with eo and then solve the other 2 f2l pairs? Also, how far into the method can a really experienced solver realistically plan during inspection?
while only time will tell how good this follow up is, Petrus users can plan the 2x2x3 in inspection, and possibly more. Solving eo pair into lxs is about 15 moves. Meanwhile inserting the dr edge with eo is 719 algs (source: trangium batch solver) with an average move count of 6.6(similar to eo pair), after which you need to insert 2 pairs in the same number of moves as lxs takes (around 8). I believe that the petrus method of eo, the square then pair is a bit more movecount efficient, but is usually done intuitively as it would otherwise be a lot more algs with harder eo recognition (since you have 2 edges rather than 1 without white or yellow)
I said it was 719 algs, but I typed something wrong, and it’s actually 135. The new average movecount is 5.7. Then you solve the two pairs which is around 7 moves each if you’re good at influencing pairs which, in conjunction with 3 auf’s is around 22 moves total. Eopair lxs is around 15.2 moves + 4 to make the pair and 2 auf’s is around 20.5 moves with better eo recognition.
You did a lot of analysis lol, but yeah, at the time I made that comment I didnt understand the importance of eo recognition, and thought that the steps were kind of unnatural, but it makes sense now.
A fun method and a great introduction to APB. Q. Would it not be a little more efficient to solve the BR pair in Roux style rather than int F2L and then do DFDB; if not why not?
so I'm not a roux solver but I'm thinking that its because it gives you less places to look while you're trying to find 2 pieces as oppose to finding one piece at a time and yes I'm aware that we're solving both edges but I'm not sure if its the same but this is just my hypothesis
I made a method called Anti-APB which started 2x2x3 the same way as petrus did, did the EOPair normally, did the last cross piece and used the winter variation and used full PLL.
You could also use full OLS (a touch over 500 algs) to solve the last pair and OCLL at the same time. Winter variation (and summer variation since you could also end in a split pair) would be a decent beginner version of full OLS but I couldn’t say it’s better than just LS>OCLL>PLL at that point. Easy cases would probably be worth it tho
At the highest level, how important is it that the pair creation step gets done 2gen? I was wondering cuz some of the cases where both pieces are at the bottom of the right side look like they might be easier to solve with s or wide f moves. The downside would of course be harder eo prediction and the fact that the pair isn’t always made in the 4 given locations. (e.g. the case where the corner is solved and correctly oriented but the edge is oriented at DR could be solved with S R S’ instead of R’ U R’ U)
This is a great tutorial, thank you! I've noticed that my cube often seems kinda stuck when trying to do S moves although it's lubed. Would core lube help here?
I can't get the notation for "Pair solved EO" :< what are gray stickers? bad edges or good edges? does it include right slot edge or is it only about edges with white/yellow sticker on top? I tried to follow those algs but edges won't orient, I wonder what I'm doing wrong here I like the method and I want to give it a try
I think you’ll find if the pair is oriented that’s what ends up happening naturally, if it’s misoriented it’s better to get into the habit of only pairing the pieces for when you eventually learn EOPair
Its the other way around, typically you want to stay in "home grip" as much as possible meaning Rwide moves would be much quicker. Its also possible because the right layer is free to move all the time until EOPair and so on
U r U’ r’ would be the actual best thing to do (just because M moves are generally slower than r moves during this step). But yes, I taught it the other way because it’s a beginner tutorial and having a more general rule for each step makes it easier to learn.
Is this better than roux or cfop couse it just looks like petrus with a lot of algs and eo pair is real hard and kinda not good finger tricks But also it doesnt envole 4 f2l Pairs which is really good and you don't need to do second block like roux That's the reason I'm stile thinking about this method Thx
The algorithms and approach are pretty heavily optimized. I believe it may be competitive with enough practice and development, but I doubt it'll kill either CFOP or Roux. If you like learning algs and are good at EO recognition, this seems like a pretty great method
I believe I saw you ask this on the discord so for those here wondering the same thing, if the edge is matching the R centre it’s a good edge, if it has any other colour on the right side it’s bad
I’m assuming you mean inserting DR during the first half of beginner LXS. You can use inserts like S R2’ S’ R2 or S’ U2’ S but the RU version are generally faster and most consistent + the RU versions are triggers that get used all over full LXS so it’s good to get used to using them.
For methods that ALWAYS end in ZBLL (like APB), yes, although they are the hardest get to the point where they become worth it so it’s recommended to learn them last (as learning other ZBLL sets first will provide more immediate value)
I assume you’re talking about doing EO recognition like you would in ZZ? In this case since it’s only 1 edge you don’t need a full system and should be ok with just quickly comparing it to the front or right centre
i feel like the most advanced version of APB would be making br pair while doing partial eo to give a lower move-count pair plus EO pair. then while doing that also doing a solution that gives you a favourable LxS. this would be often cancelable into LxS due to it being predominantly 2 gen(so not necessarily always doing the last 2-3 moves of inserting the pair into the back). edit: hmm this is just petrus...
Yes there is some stuff but it’s far less developed, you can find it on the APB server but probably the biggest development in the 4x4 variant happened on Athefre’s server which is linked in the APB server
Some common mistakes are not AUFing (if solved EOPair) or misrecognising the F2L edge or holding the 2x2x3 in the wrong place or solving the wrong pair. If you can’t figure it out you can join the APB discord server and ask in there too
Don’t hold your breath, I might do something but if you surpass what is in this video you’re probably ahead of most people and should hop into the APB discord server to figure out what to do next
This method is really good but there is just one problem with ur beginner method, When you flip edges, what do you do when three edges need to be flipped now this is a major problem as in ur beginner tutorial, it only shows how to flip two or four edges, so...😂😂😂😂
The strategy is to set the cube down, stop the timer, pack your bags, fly to Norway and change your identity living out the rest of your days never having to think about EO again
Surely this method would be worse than cfop because of how difficult it is to do look ahead with this with all the unnatural s and m moves. With cfop, although it has a high move count, you do the moves unbelievably fast with the easy look ahead. With apb, you have high tps but long pauses at eo and zbll.
lookahead to eo is not really that difficult and organized zbll recognition systems like tranv2 and baum-harris have been making zbll recog much better than it was.
What are your thoughts on APB as an OH method? How fast do you think someone could get and do you know of any fast OH cubers who use APB? I've been experimenting with APB OH for the past day and after just one day of practicing, I average around 25 with it, while being around 13 with CFOP. Ohk Ohk For the last 2 days I've been searching on alot of speedcubing methods from old to new, didn't find any better than this........ But in all seriousness can there be any method better than "this" (not taking in account the 700+ algs :) ). I don't think so, right? Hoping for an answer by some one who knows cube theory.....:) I left cubing 4 years ago at sub 11 Former CFOPer. Now I hope to learn this method.
Compared to the generic nameless beginner method that often gets taught to anybody new to cubing, how much faster is this? Should I switch to this method instead?
I did my first timed solve and got 2x the normal time i get but this mehtid feels more fun so im gonna get used to it to see if it works but thanks for such an easy turorial to learn from :)
Intuition and step count are subjective reasons to pick a method and don’t have anything to do with speed. The primary advantage of APB over Roux is the ergonomics, Roux uses a lot of MU turning which are all “flick” moves whereas APB is mainly RU turning which alternates between “flick” (the U moves) and “wrist” (the R moves) turns which is significantly faster than doing only flick moves. A practical example of this are these 2 U-perms algs: M2 U M’ U2 M U M2 R U R’ U R’ U’ R2 U’ R’ U R’ U R Despite the MU alg being half the moves, the RU alg is faster if not just as fast.
@@LiamHighducheck okay, I believe you. Currently I am really struggling to improve. I know CFOP and 2 look OLL an 2 look PLL. And I know Roux, latter I use when its suits the situation of the cube. But I have huge problems improving speed. I picked up cubing after 3 years and I dont know how to improve my speed. I have watched videos on finger tricks and I already use those, but the cube is becoming unstable when I want to turn faster. I started using the Cubestation app and hope my speed improves by doing the algorithms training, although the GAN 356 i tends to ...dont know the correct term...it feels like the cube stretches.

This method is really good but there is just one problem with ur beginner method,
When you flip edges, what do you do when three edges need to be flipped now this is a major problem as in ur beginner tutorial, it only shows how to flip two or four edges, so...😂😂😂😂
The strategy is to set the cube down, stop the timer, pack your bags, fly to Norway and change your identity living out the rest of your days never having to think about EO again
Problem: 3 edges isn’t possible
Update: just figured out winter variation always works when doing lxs
this might take 5 years to become an apb solver
BROOO I HAVE 5 BAD EDGES
42 method tutorial when
42 algorithms with average of 42 moves
69th like heheh
Cfop is better
Always appreciate a beginner friendly tutorial of a not CFOP method! Gotta break that monopoly!
We’re all early investors
I would say this channel is underated but that will change soon with the quality of the videos. Continue making great videos ❤
Awesome! I am going to try to switch and learn all 737 algs
Cant tell if this is sarcasm or not... but good luck 😊
@@nafrulnizamabdulmanap2342 Well... I did try, but failed.
So far it has been interesting and I think it might be good for OH so I will probably try to get fast with it.
Very well explained, easy to follow with a lot of helpful links. Thanks for this great tutorial!
Sir iam న్యూ student iam using cfop method. F 2l method key hole method .basic cross white. .2layer somany methods using types.top to bottom, bottom to top.Algarithams .3layer very slowely. Oll pll more algarithams &methods & advance algarithams small r f l .still iam not using sledje hamer algarithams.trying..iam suffering keyhole last slot cornor solving.( Edje, cornor) ( only cornor ) how easy tecnic.somany videos stored my brain working slow...this video downloaded. This method basic follows dont need bottom cross white correct or wrong.??? This video is starting basic video ??
Thistype method using algarithamse list send me.already you are used in video. & If any other algarithamse.
Reply me.any other sujjetions for solving qube .please.please
As early as possible.
Whats your average for APB?
Some among us kid is gonna comment... 7:50
This video popped out at the right time😂
why dont u implement algorithems slow
Bro can u pls teach a bit slower the eo part
after i finish lxs it doesn't give me any zbll cases(no yellow cross)
@@rubyace7058 that means you are not doing EO (edge orientation) 5:41
It will take me a while solving the edges step while speedsolving
Ohk Ohk For the last 2 days I've been searching on alot of speedcubing methods from old to new, didn't find any better than this........ But in all seriousness can there be any method better than "this" (not taking in account the 700+ algs :) ). I don't think so, right?
Hoping for an answer by some one who knows cube theory.....:)
I left cubing 4 years ago at sub 11 Former CFOPer.
Why not go full Roux method instead if this... its more intuitive and has less steps, should be faster imo
A practical example of this are these 2 U-perms algs:
M2 U M’ U2 M U M2
R U R’ U R’ U’ R2 U’ R’ U R’ U R
Despite the MU alg being half the moves, the RU alg is faster if not just as fast.
