      When I see pictures of the summit CLOGGED, a line of climbers waiting with limited time to reach the summit because it's too crowded (absurd to say that Mt. Everest is crowded at the summit ridge), I think climbers with inadequate experience see mt everest as a way to validate their worth as a human or to prove how brave/tough they are to others. It's ludicrous. No, it's a place on Earth that is no match for majority of the human population. However, there will always be people who fail to recognize that embarking upon an illusory expedition is no joke. They're deceived by their perception that summiting Mt. Everest is a real possibility and/or an attainable goal. As such, they pay with their lives because of an illusion that they--not others-- can do it because they--not others--have more determination than the next person. Please note Im speaking of those naive climbers/trekkers who do not have the specialized agility to see Mt. Everest for the feat it truly is.

    Climbing Everest is no longer the unique achievement it used to be.
    Sherpa's do it repeatedly, year after year, WITH all the gear. They are the real mountaineers. The rest are just guided tourists who couldn't do it if they had to carry their own shit & not rely on organised assistance ... like the early climbers did it.
    It's still risky & dangerous but it's not the PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT it used to be. It's now a crowded, group hike ... A 'unique challenge' does not correspond to a pedestrian traffic jam, in a mountain rubbish tip ...

      Even in 2024…. With the new rules…. Pack-in pack-out….. a lot of the expedition teams simply cut off their logos on their tents at camp 3/4 and left them behind along with most of their gear. So how do you police that…? If anyone watched Ryan Mitchell’s climb…. He said 3/4 smelled like shit and looked like shit. His group was one of the last ones down and both camps were trashed. “A bit of a head scratcher” when talking about the yaks and reduction of helicopters. No, no tf it is not a head scratcher. Whoever wrote the script for this video is absolutely apart of the problem. Everest is not your yearly vacation destination, it is not where you go to base camp to spend a week when you want to experience the wilderness. And unless youre fully committed to devoting every second of your time to climbing preparation (no lounging on couches and sipping tea while having a laugh) or fully devoted to the support system of those climbers, then you don’t freaking belong at base camp. The reversion to yaks makes perfect sense, the issue is that there is too many people on the mountain and too many of those people are completely care free. It is that simple, there is too many people. If you have an issue with traveling by yak and were expecting a helicopter transport so you can get an easy ride all the way to base camp, then you don’t belong on the mountain in the first place. The trek to base camp with all your tents, food and water, and climbing gear or materials has stood as a proving ground for decades. If you have an issue with doing that trek the “old fashioned way”, then you don’t belong on the mountain.

    Such a shame, for what’s happened at Everest. I’m glad the Napli government has de-commercialized it. Denali has been better protected, or so I hear-because they don’t allow commercial guides. Everyone has to be an experienced mountaineer to even gain access to Denali.

    Certified summiting of three other 7,000+ meter peaks (of which there are dozens in the Himalayas) before you even get to go to Everest. It would spread around the work for guides and benefits to the local economy away from that one mountain (Everest), and it would reduce crowding and accidents on Everest because only proven, tried and tested climbers would get to even be there. The 'mystique' of summiting Everest would go back to climbers who have earned it by previous hard mountaineering experience and previous support to the local economy.

The amount of people that already die on that mountain is enough. When you take a death trap that is for people in the best shape and the best at what they do in the world and you open it for money and allow people on that mountain have no business on that mountain in the first place, you are asking for a disaster. Shame on us. Shame on everybody who didnt help keep that place sacred. Thats why she ended so many lives, we need to respect the peaks and appreciate them, and climb them. Not walk on them and wipe our feet and asses upon its face.

    If Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzig Norgay, two of most humble men you’d have ever known, had ANY idea about what Everest would eventually become after they first climbed it, they’d have never climbed it in the first place.

      @alexn5743 yeah, maybe, but somehow I doubt that the device weighs more than the oxygen tanks. If I remember correctly they said the drone can carry 23 pounds. That's quite a lot.

      @@pacovl46 build a better drone. A heavy duty one. Once again, these effing people make a big deal out of nothing. If you walked into an engineering firm and announced that you needed them to design a drone that could carry say 100-150lb payload, you didn't care how big it was or how much it cost. All you would hear would be the sound of ripping trousers, even for the women. They LOVE THIS STUFF. It's all about solutions people.

    • @pacovl46
      @pacovl46 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @lindabrennan4455 the drone they use already can carry 23 or pounds, that should theoretically be more than enough. The problem is the altitude. You have substantially less lift because of the thinner air. The heavier the drone is and the higher the altitude the less capable it will be. Drones would be perfect, though. I think it's just a question of time.
