Like a few other comments posted here, you're a tad contradictory in your review.
Firsty, you say you're not that keen on German cars. Not a good starting point. The rain is hammering down and the roads are very wet. Yet you're driving it like you stole it. You said that it's refined and comfortable. You say it's a good car to travel for miles and miles. You've praised this 992 for everything it's done.
And then you say at the end it's "too safe"...??? And this your sole critique?
Safe is good. Safe is better than stuffing it into a tree going backwards on soaking wet tarmac which is what would happen if you ever you did the same speeds (Or even if you ever managed to get anywhere near to the Porsches speed!) in a Ferrari or McLaren.
So, can I suggest you stick to driving English or the Italian cars and leave Porsches for people who appreciate that they are fantastic drivers cars.
Over 1 million worldwide sales for the 911 is proof that Porsche are getting it right. And I think that this new, 992 version of the 911 is quite stunning. It's fast, comfortable, reliable, has a fantastic engine/gearbox pairing and it will keep you driving whilst other sports car drivers would be sat at home, waiting for the roads to dry out.
Oh! And name me another sports car manufacturer where you can do multiple "launch controls" time and time again, without the car shutting down and wanting to be taken home on the back of a recovery lorry?

Lets clear up some facts. We never said we don't like German cars. When it comes to sports cars the preference has been for British and Italian marques, and that "the stuff from Stuttgart", obviously referencing the Porsche 911, has never been our pick. It's an opinion, which we're all entitled to.
We have praised the latest 992 because there are things it does very well and it would be wrong not to mention those points, as it makes for a balanced review. In our opinion however, the Carrera 4S (not all 911s) feels too grown up and lacks the edge that we'd like from a sports car. As for the wet weather driving, it only proves our point that the car is too easy to extract the performance from. It's also worth noting that McLaren and Ferrari aside, Porsche also make other 911s that you wouldn't think of messing with in the wrong conditions, but this review is of a C4S and we feel that this particular 911 is not the driver's choice in the range for the reasons explained. Not that it's not a good car, just not the driver's model.
In terms of safety, we never said it's too safe and wouldn't suggest that a car that is less safe is better than one that isn't. Most performance cars are safe owing to modern traction control systems, tyres that do a good job of displacing water, and in other cases, sports cars from the likes of McLaren and Ferrari that offer enough feedback to inform where their limits are in certain conditions.
To conclude, we think the Carrera 4S is a good car and if you're the type of driver who wants an approachable sports car that you can use 365 days a year, then by all means buy one. In our opinion however, it sacrifices a little too much edge in favour of a usable driving experience which is not what we want from a 911. We'll keep on testing them until we find one that ticks all our boxes, and report back with the good news when we find it.

Come on Mark. That 911 addresses all of most people’s needs. It is a sports car (despite what you say), it’s low cost maintenance compared to the more fussy super cars, it performs on bends not just in straight lines, it works well in the snow and can be a daily driver (unlike the more fussy cars out there that you seem to prefer. I think it’s time for you to convert. From John at the gym....btw I love the film. More 911 films please (ASAP)

Nice review, didn't like the end. The no doesn't make sense at all. The 911 never had the intent to be edgy. It had and has the intent into what you explained in the beginning. If you want a more "edgy" one you should go for the GTS. And if that is not edgy enough you go for The GT3 and so on. Comparing manual to dual clutch.. Yeah that's taste. Anyway, keep it up.
