Shannon is a great dad when it comes to having money. Chad is a dad that every kid wants regardless of the money lol. He’s gonna help you and be stern as needed. But you’re always his child and regardless of what you do or say he’s got your back. Respect from fear and respect from love is so different and money can’t change that dynamic.
The part that I didnt think was going to be mentioned, and I am glad it was, Ocho mentioned how parents will look to antagonize their children. Parents, especially parents of African descent, love to mention how their child should respect them but rarely do they mention that that is a two way street. You have to give respect in order to receive it, even as a parent. Parents should not antagonize their children and shame on you as a parent if you are doing so. This discussion needs to be had more.
Humm, sometimes, you can speak to some people, but not all people! My parents choose which of us they spoke to, the rest, well, thankfully we educated ourselves. I am who I am because I loved me more. The conversations were never driven in my direction, but I absorbed every conversation around me and morphed into a power beyond my parents' thoughts.

I never had a good dad in my life my dad got locked up for ten to life at 11 yrs old but the principles unc was talking about i can tell that is very beneficial to have a dad that instilled structure in you
Shannon Sharpe, We definitely need more parents with his mentality! I applaud his parenting tactics 👏🏿 👏🏿👏🏿
Emotions are a beast. I agree with Shannon on this one.
I AGREE WITH SHANNON 1000%
Shannon’s experience is his experience…you can’t invalidate Ocho’s experience. Listening is a key component of a conversation. Love what y’all doing but you’re not always right.
Speaking truth.... laying down foundation and morals in life
You are 100% right Shannon !!!
My dad did leading by example and didn't do much talking. Also, he wasn't spoiling you after he grew up dirt poor in Mississippi, you had to earn what you got. Lastly he never dodged his obligation to the family. I'm trying to be like that too.
Unc is spot on. I am a child support specialist and separation affects everyone differently and anger is the general outcome.
I'm 36 yrs old & I've never had any kind of relationship with my dad & hearing unc talk about his kids is a breath of fresh air.gotta lot of respect & love for you unc keep up the great work.
As new father, I really appreciate this kind of conversation. It’s so hard to think about how to guide your children, but the overall goal is to raise great men and women. I grew up with no father as well, so I’m having to carve out my own philosophy and ideas on how to be a father.
Appreciate these gems Shannon. As a young man who wants children this is gold.
Straight up You’re a Real One Unc!!
Boy if y'all didn't hit on a nerve, if y'all didn't hit the nail on the head, that is exactly what me and my family are going through right now real talk real time. I agree 1000% Shannon there should be no excuses because u know right from wrong and have been taught that way..... Priceless my brother....
I’m very proud of you, Shannon and Ocho. Keep up the good work I’m a football fanatic and I love your content. Don’t let nothing stop you.
Wish I had a Dad like Shannon I didn’t have a dad at all ❤️
UNC I agree with you 💯 I don't do laziness with my two children they are are adults and parents as well I'm proud of them ❤️❤️
Shannon I totally agree with your method on how you take care you grown kids. Keep them in check period!!!
Unc is the G.O.AT...I love his view on kids and when its time for them to go. I feel the same.
I wholeheartedly agree with Unc. Parents need to teach their kids how to be productive member of society. Nothing wrong with hard work. I’ve seen the results of throwing money at everything and/or being their child’s friend. Lazy, bringing home babies, not working, etc.
Very satisfying to hear you praise those black women who helped raise your kids and work with you to raise your children. Both great dads! Preach to this next generation of black men they need much guidance. ❤❤
You 2 inspire us so much thanks unc and Ocho
Another wonderful conversation with Shannon and Chad👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great conversation and viewpoints from Unc and Ocho. ❤
I love this show I can’t wait tell the notification bell ring an it’s unc an ocho
37 no kids semi successful I’m honestly scared to get married or have kids I work too damn hard to put everything at risk with the chance of new real reward
Moving with that type of fear does you no favors. If you feel you worked too damn hard then find you a woman who also worked hard so you don't have to feel like you have everything to lose. Last resort, stay single and alone for the rest of your life then, so you can pride yourself on saying you're 50 with no kids.
@@MsSwankie10aye man its nothing wrong with that. You never know what could happen when you commit that much to another person. Thats a blessing to only have to be responsible for yourself.
find someone who jas something to lose.
@@Bge12609I’m 55 single & no kids. Love it.
Awesome convo- I stand by Shannon one thousand percent🎤
sharpe strict as hell😂😂respond to this comment if you wholeheartedly agree
@@princecammKids have to have structure, because when they go out in the world and someone says no it’s going to be a problem
Better to be strict than loose.
That's not strict..its respect
One day you will see why. The real world aint free. You may not be strict. May give ur kids EVERYTHING. Which is cool. BUT when thwy get old enough tht mom and dad an hold their hand or save them.frm everything cause the world really dnt care like tht thats whn u may see. U dnt have to be as strict but its about balance. I knw some ppl tht have kids and let them do whatever and the kid disrespect the f out them.and they wonder why. I have friends tht ddnt have strict parents they thought the world was the same as they home and they could get wht they wanted whn they want then reality hit them in the face. Now they in jail cause thwy thought mom and dad got me and im good so they made a bad deciaion tht cost them. And the judge wanted to make an example cause they came frm money. Another person i knw ddnt knw how to take No cause they neevr heard it before. Whn we got out of highschoolThey got depressed ddnt knw how to survive and deleted them self. So shannon maybe strict but why is the question.
Strict 😂😂😂!! Don’t be lazy and you get what you want from him. He not asking for a lot.
I am really enjoying this conversation ❤❤
I found this channel few weeks back thought it was pretty cool. Both u guys r cool as hell! I believe in the way shannon was talking about his kids. Nothing wrong in being a lil strict on behavior makes them better adults when they respect people especially the parents. I also think young kids need chores so they r use to them when they r grown. My cousin never made his kids do shit now he has a 25 year old adult that isnt a go getter type. Im like shannon i dont do lazy.
These women have to be held responsible for banditry 😂😂😂😂
They are just playing it smart in my opinion. The laws around marriage / divorce need to change so that it can't be abused as such
Playing smart? Whats smart about adding to the dysfunction ? @@v1sudo
@@v1sudothat honestly makes no sense if they’re married no issues she was just being greedy. If they leave together that money would’ve been there’s anyways
@@edgardocardona5657 sounds like she's leaving him and wasn't willing to share. That's banditry in the first degree, at least for me and my new friend that judge 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
@@K2D3MagnGlyc excactly the other guy tripping 😂
The economy has humbled a lot of folk.
Real men sacrifice and keep their family together no matter what. Like 85 said choose wisely or have a lifetime of regret
Ocho is NOT lying about parents antagonizing adult children that have to be at home!
I loved this episode. Really real life.
That's some real talk
Thanks for the wisdom, Unc
I believe in Prenups, especially if I’ve had to dish out money. I want to be loved rather than rich.
The amusing thing is even if you get married and don't get a prenup. Its cool because the state has an automatic prenup.
Unc Shay this the Reason why we love listenin to him 👏🏾💪🏾
Yep, I’ve been following Shannon a very long time and I remember when his kids were in college. They were respectful and he was Sharpe.
He right so right. So true so true.
I will keep listening to this conversation.
Once a parent always a parent
This is why I respect shannon sharpe, this reminds me of when I'm working, going to school, hard times as well. Taking busses, saving money to buy me a car, killing my loans, etc. It's out of my pockets
Ocho right, really pay attention to the woman you with. Everybody gets mad but everybody have limitations on what they’ll do when mad.
Facts. But sometimes ppl hide and can show you their representative for years and you don't even know it until it's way late.
@@samsneaddyears???? There had to be flags
Didnr he marry a real housewife?
Chad you lucky AF especially being a former pro athlete and having that many baby momma. You a rockstar for finding woman that did not try and put in your ass in court for life. Good for you you, stay blessed
I agree 💯 with Shannon philosophy with his kids. ❤
I respect Shannon & ocho more everyday salute
I pay child support and haven't seen or heard from my kids in 10 years
Child support is
legal human trafficking
I'm in the same boat. It sucks bro.
Go to court for visitation. Especially if you're paying. Mother's can't block that. If you don't do what has to be done, the kids will see you as not caring, whether it's true or not. ❤
Me too I don't even know what my kids are dead or alive
@@HolisticManifesting Spent almost 3 years going back and forth to court. Cost me a well paying job then because of the numerous absences to attend court in addition to thousands of dollars in attorney fees.
Parental agreement was agreed upon and she still violates it. Tried to bring this up before to the judge and he ignored it. Women have an upper hand in family court. It's a broken system.
I'm sorry to hear that, I hope things change for yall.
Great Discussion!
Shannon has it right. I have been guilty of soft soaking my kids, but I'm working harder to make them carry their load. My ex-wife often tells me to stop sacrificing my resources to take care of their grown butts. I'm a softy but I'm trying to improve. I gave my children the best suburban schools for an education, I paid for all their needs, they grew up in a mini mansion in the suburbs, I gave them all the tools to succeed in life. My ex-wife has the right perspective on this, so I'm working to do better. I have 2 great kids who are smart, so my new resolution is to let them handle their business. Great video.
This is why I love 💘 Shannon... I'm the same way..if you lazy you get nothing i work to hard. I expect as much...
These what nightcaps all about fr real genuine impactful conversations
