My dad was abusive, abandoned me and my sisters, and started a whole new family. I was bitter as well until my pastor said "If you don't forgive your daddy, you gon' be your daddy."
My husband never got to forgive his father he was going to see him but he passed away before got to see him. I still wonder if he regret it I never asked him he never met my children his grandchildren
That’s the realest thing I’ve heard. Appreciate you my guy. I’m dealing with that right now. Realizing I’m turning into that man I hated. But realizing it is the first part.
My father acknowledged me, but we don't have a relationship. I wrote him a letter of forgiveness, but I don't allow him in my space. He's sickly now and needs nursing care. My siblings and his sisters are doing that. My feeling is his women took precedence and that's where his money went. I don't feel guilty in my decision not to go around him. I feel for my siblings though. They're literally fighting our aunts over property...smh My mother shielded me from chaos and violence and I'm glad she did.

My parents divorced when I was young but it was obvious my mom hated my dad but she never said a bad thing about him. She let us have our own relationship with him. I think that is how it should be and I'm thankful she did that.
Same. My mom never told us why they broke up and why she didn’t like him until after he passed away. She only told me, but he cheated on her. She never let us know she didn’t like him tho 😂 we loved my dad soo much. He was a great dad
You're mom is a special lady. I wish I could say the same about mine. I still love them both. She didn't act like she hated him. But she definitely told us things that I shouldn't have known

A lot of guys are now choosing to have long term girlfriends instead of wives because it's so risky.
I liked this interview cos Shannon just let him talk. No interruptions, no tight timelines, no cutting to commercials. This format is really good.

I read somewhere..If you dont address your childhood traumas, they will show up in your adult relationships. This is going to take, therapy, forgivness and prayer.
That’s common sense…

My parents divorced when I was 7. Not because they didn’t love each other, they just couldn’t get along and were arguing more and more. They split so we wouldn’t have to go through that. I’m so glad they did. It taught us to not stay in unhealthy situations just because you love someone.

Basically, she was embarrassed because he filed before her and he also did it in a way that benefits him with his finances. Sometimes people get comfortable with their ghetto ways and think it’ll last as long as they want it to. He got tired and soaked he was done and she was shocked.

He did right by listening to his attorney and moving the way she advise, which was the protection for his money. In the end, he still looked out for her financially, but still didn’t have to give her half. When. Other of y’all cheating on each other, no such thing as giving the other Rosetta half as if they’re innocent. The attorney advised him correctly. If you and your spouse cheated on each other, will you’d till next ok with giving them half of your money?
Gary and Kenya were together 20+ years. No matter how done he was with the marriage, he owed her the respect of telling her that he planned to file for divorce. He comes across as if children should be able to separate the fact he was a good dad from the fact he lied to and deeply hurt their mom. The details of what led to the breakdown of their marriage are insignificant to how he is using notoriety to recruit people onside. He is doing more damage and it’s unfortunate that he can’t see that. As long as Kenya and their children are hurting, this isn’t a laughing matter.

He pretty much said it. He was on the road a lot, cheated multiple times and then didn't even tell them before he filed for divorce. The fact that the kids don't speak to him now speaks volumes. When grown "children" don't mess with a parent more than likely there is a good reason. Perhaps in Gary's case the "kids" don't like that he cheated on their mom? Ya think? By the way, his oldest child is 30 and his youngest aside from his new twins is 19. They are adults and old enough to arrive at their own conclusions about their dad and his behavior.
You didn’t just cheat on your wife, you cheated on your kids too. The kids had to deal with the aftermath of mending their mother’s heart after their father broke it…they didn’t sign up to be in a broken home. I too, STILL feel some type of way towards my dad when he cheated on my mother when I was 5; they put in the work and are still going strong 25 years later. But a child will never forget how their mother cries….just don’t cheat.

I remember back to many of the interviews he did a year after the divorce was occurring, he kept saying he never cheated and etc.
He was the bad guy. He knew he started the divorce process and did not say anything until the day she was getting served. What did he think was going to happen. I've seen it go both ways with any gender that gets blind sided. SO, that is probably whey your kids are mad at you. You served their mom on the same day you told her you wanted a divorce. OF COURSE she's going to try to save face because both of you are public figures. Non public figures don't have to do that.
Also, typical of a man to have a new set of kids after a divorce and having OLDER kids. Wrap it up. you don't have to have kids with your new partner. I bet the new girl is young.

Gary doesn't seem to understand or didn't convey publicly how the divorce affected the kids. His actions in the marriage broke the kids hearts. He should write a letter. Texting and email isn't the same as a handwritten letter. If he hasn't, he should also seek counseling on how to deal with the trauma of divorce or we're going to be hearing about the breakup of him and the twins mother. Is he still a cheater at heart. Women are still going to throw themselves at him? Is he now able to "Just say No.?"

Understand this, most people have boundaries if you cross, there's forgiveness but there ain't "I'm going back to you". Such as: abuse, infidelity, lying, etc. Each have their own. Gary isn't a bad guy but in his own words, he was a bad husband. And if he hasn't dealt with his issues, we'll hear similar stories regarding the mother of his twins.

Ya seem to forget that he's being honest...plain and simple. He's being vulnerable and honest about what he did in the relationship and marriage. He NEVER abandoned his children at all. He and his wife knew that separation was coming but clearly she didn't think that it would ever happen or at least didn't take him seriously on really leaving her. You can't bluff when it comes to that stuff. And when he showed her that he was foreal, that's when she started to take things seriously. Things happen, she did things and he did things but he definitely did not abandon his children. I give Gary all the praise for being straight up about his situation. One day his children will become parents and realize and understand things more. They don't have to agree with everything but they'll respect the journey that he took to take care of them and give them a life.
