Omg, this is the first plane I ever flew in. A guy brought his '28 tri-motor to the local airport and was doing 30 minute flights over the city and surrounding areas. One of my favorite memories with my dad and grandpa... Going to have to recreate that flight in their memories. ❤
There are two knobs on the left side of the center console that open the cabin and cargo doors respectively. One high, one low. Cargo door comes with an old Ford truck.
I just saw this in the marketplace and while it was downloading I said "I bet Beckett's already made a video" lmao good stuff, my guy. Also I love how they added the ability to switch between what kind of instrument panels you want without having to exit the sim and selecting a whole different plane like with the DC-3
I had the privilege of flying one of these Fords awhile back, got to sit in the copilot's seat and right after takeoff the pilot let me fly it for a good 35-40 minutes and got it lined up for final and he did the landing. Have to use A LOT of rudder for coordinated flight, those long ailerons....The most awesome experience in my life, apart from getting my PPL beforehand lol
While cycling through the camera views, one of the views is an exterior view of the left engine. I use the right arrow key to pass through the fuselage into the passenger cabin. I let the AI pilot takeover for awhile and I sit in the back and enjoy the views. I knew I wouldn't have to wait long for you to post this beauty. Your channel remains my go-to for all things MSFS! Thank you!
@DietCoke88 there are plenty of people playing the sim that don't have VR and it's just as enjoyable. I'm sure there are sim set ups with multiple screens and all the applicable hardware that's more immersive than fumbling about with hardware with a VR headset on, or worse...keyboard and mouse 🤢
from what i understand, the trimotor is a quite docile aircraft. i think the big Easter egg would be the 1 and 3 engine gauges. the engine gauges on the dash would be the center engine, and the gauges for 1 and 3 are on the engines themselves, you look out the window to read them. they dont seem to work though, there doesn't seem to be needles on the gauges.
Really enjoyed this video and the fact that it is free at the moment - VH-USX - is an Australian rego because Papua New Guinea was an Aussie territory where this actual aircraft finished its life - maybe Asobo used some of the existing photos for the texture

Nice looking plane. I've just downloaded it too I'll have to check it out! Things that stand out for me are the great spinning prop animations, especially when viewed side-on. Not many addon developers get this right and when viewed from an angle, their spinning props look '2D' in appearance; nothing like that here. One thing though (and this is an MSFS thing I'm certain) is that no one has seemed to get the stopping engine animation quite 'natural' looking yet. Props either just slam stopped...or in this case, you can see they have tried to put some 'compression kickback' into the animation as the prop stops...but it still looks a bit forced. I'm nit-picking though! Great video!
Did you notice you can change the front panel by twisting the knob just to the right of the fuel primer controls. There is an old school panel, old school panel w/ gyropilot and a modern panel with GPS screens.
What a beauty. I'd like it to be a bit more complex to fly. One thing I like about Aeroplane Heaven's "premium" a/c is that they have a nice feel to them, but this one feels a bit vanilla. Can't complain about free though. Still a lovely for a relaxing flight.
Thanks for this interesting Video, i can say like always. Your Videos helped me a lot. I downloaded it, but had no time to try it. Looks fine to fly. Keep up your fantastic work and have a nice weekend.
I got the left engine going but the right and centre starter/energiser buttons were bugged locked. Couldn't press them or activate in any way. This was a good video though. Perhaps I should revisit?
@@jonbeckett It probably is simplified but at the same time I have a hard time believing that a lot of existing tail draggers in this sim are as difficult to keep straight in real life as they are in this sim.
It more or less feels the same to fly. Easy, floaty, and forgiving. Too arcade-like for me to want to mess with often but the plane model itself looks fantastic.
Following further experimentation, you may need to trigger the solenoid BEFORE the starter pops back up. Any further expertise on this would be helpful :)
Not sure why the engines on all these asobo planes sound so thin/tinny. It's like there's no low-end or substance to them at all. Even the stratoliner sounds super thin, nothing like how it's supposed to sound. Maybe they have a deaf sound guy or something, but it'd be nice if we got some engine noises that actually represented the real thing :)
Novelty adventure, to quote you Jon, thank you. I won't fly it much unless they offer autopilot integration. Same problem with the equally beautiful C195 Businessliner. I like it low and slow, but for the stretches that I like to cover I am too lazy to hold the yoke, my bad.
@@tissuepaper9962 Yes, tissuepaper, (I have) "heard of trim", thank you for your question. If I may kindly ask, do you think a good trim alone will keep the aircraft on its intended flight path without any input from the yoke, rudder or throttles? Would you switch, on relatively long flights, on an external view for a longer period of time in your sim and be sure your aircraft will maintain your intended flight path? (In order to admire the scenery). Also, do you think that a good trim in general is a good substitute for an autopilot? (In aviation). All the best, cheers.
Turn your mags on before the solenoids, they are just grounded/not grounded. Your loosing your prime with every turn of the prop. Unless it was written in the checklist for saftey or something
I'm following the checklist (which I'm always doubtful of - the checklists in MSFS tend to be wrong - I actually had a real DC3 pilot help me get it right for that aircraft) :)
MSFS has been quite slow for me with downloads and data loading within the sim recently. Confirmed my connection is running at optimum speeds so guessing there's some server issues going on. Anyway, did see this plane and hoping to try soon. Edit: Just had a flight with this very impressed for a free add on. A great plane to go sight seeing in the visibility is the best I have seen. Only downside and to be expect given the age of the aircraft (no criticism) is I wouldn't want to be flying this to far given there's no autopilot but very stable to fly at least. It does have another panel with a GPS but I find flying with the vintage panel and cheating a bit by bringing up my PMS750 toolbar is a nice combo for modern navigation.
They say today flying is the safest way to travel (not actually true. True per mile, but you are not more likely to die driving 10 miles to the airport as opposed to 8000 miles long haul). They were saying “flying is the safest way to travel” when this was humanities best effort
So the issue I have with this plane is that, in the market place, at least one picture was from the inside of the cabin, but as all who have this can see, you cannot access the cabin, which is probably the biggest downside to this
@@jonbeckett It's a shame, would have been nice to open them up and listen to the sound of the radials firing up. In fact the engine sounds seem rather muted, maybe its my sound settings. For a freebie though certainly can't complain.

The manual is pretty good. Aeroplane Heaven also did the DC3. One of the easier tail draggers to take off and land from my experience.

There is documentation in the install directory. Prime 4 pumps, starter on, wait around 10 seconds, solenoid, then mag. Will fire up every time.
Engine sounds surely cannot be that muted in the real aircraft. Sound immersion means better immersion so what is going on with this model, I wonder.
Try flying it with skis, I had all engines running and parking break off and it wouldn’t move all on a snowy runway
Sound has been fixed, cockpit geometry and nose geometry fixed! maybe you can do a comparison?
If you enter flight plan from main menu , just engage AI flies and it’s good as AP
