Quick note - I have revised the startup procedure to include the second bank of levers on the opposite wall of the cockpit for the mixture and RPM. I missed it in this "first look" (the checklist in the aircraft doesn't mention it) - also, there is a clipboard in the cockpit instrument panel with control of the tug boat, pontoons, and lots more. Finally - there are working doors in the front and back of the cockpit, allowing access to the crew sleeping quarters, and the passenger area.
Verry nice model i'm impressen (not a MS-FlightSim enthousiast though) i think your startup procedure is a bit of a quick and dirty one. First of al, Starting the engines this way would make the aircraft to turn violently around the anchor boi. Also after startup there is of course a whole procedure checking each engine and generator. Avionics should be set even before starting the engine. Then also.. this is a flyingboat.. there is a whole list of items even before starting. Still amazing.. thanks fot this nice demonstration.
Truly impressive reconstruction work, considering that there was nothing left of this plane except photos, a few videos of when it was tested, and testimonials of surviving crewmen and engineers
I work at Latécoère, and can assure you that there are still lots of official documents of the plane. If I'm not wrong, some of my colleagues helped the devs to "rebuild" the plane with those documents
@@jonbeckett Pardon? That was the Brits, with the Saunders Roe SR1A. The US did have the Sea Dart though, which had hydroskis! The US also had the Seamaster bomber, but only as prototypes. The USSR had, and the Russians have, military jet flying boats.

I purchased this wonderful plane last night after watching your TH-cam videos. It is my first plane purchase, although I have had flight sim for over a year. The detail is unbelievable. I am stunned by the visuals and perhaps for me the old school controls are perfect as I am a complete novice when it comes to flight navigation. I also installed little Navmap (having never used it before) which has added more excitement to flying this awsome plane. Thank you for highlighting it. Once I am a bit more comfortable flying it I will go into VR as I am sure the textures of the plane will really pop.
I have seen many documentaries on french aviation, the laté 631 was shown up many times, apparently mechanics could crawl through the wings and check/service an engine in flight, its crazy. It feels real, the game and plane is really well made
As a old engine mechanic, I had the pleasure of starting old C 124's and C 97's in the Air Force, this aircraft is so realistic, I tried to keep the flames to a minimum on start up, very nice job on your part
I did a flight in this bird on Lake Titicaca in VR. So enjoyable to hang out in the cocktail room and "walk" around the cabin trying out different seats 😊. I like that there's even a kitchen and crew rest area, and the trap door from the flight deck down to the cabin reminds me so much of a tree house. Definitely worth the price! I hope I'll see more of these planes flying around the sim.
@@acmelka There's lots of tutorials on TH-cam about different options for VR headsets as well as how to configure your sim to run MSFS smoothly. I'd check out those types of videos first before investing in hardware, but you should know that there will be even more attractive VR headsets coming out this year, such as the Big Screen Beyond and the Quest 3. I have a Pico 4, but there are many tradeoffs to having a wireless VR connection as compared to tethered options that plug directly into your GPU via display port. But, and I feel this is true for GA flyers especially, once you go VR you never want to fly on flatscreens. :)
@@ErikFigueroa thank you - iwas more wondering about the specific title? That allows this plane over Titicaca. i went and searched Steam titles and general VR flying boat' on Google but I am a total noob thanks for the info

There used to be some Laté 631 memorabilia in the training building of my employer (the one big French airline which by contract, being an employee, I am not allowed to talk about…): two rows of seats and one set of propellers, I always looked at them feeling jealous because my pops had flown one, once, en route to Africa :)
Someone was developing the Graf Zeppelin at one point, can’t remember exactly where I found out about that but if you hammer it into Google it’ll probably turn up.
When at 9:50 you describe the levers which increase the RPM of the engines, it's written in French "Pas de l'hélice", which means "Pitch of the propeller".... I don't understand why...
Interesting that they recreated aircraft F-BAHG. That was the first one built and it was destroyed by the RAF in 1944 after it had been requisitioned by the Luftwaffe earlier during WWII.

Beautifully rendered, the Latecoere is amazing. However, the real aircraft had a deadly flaw which was high speed aileron flutter which caused some fatalities. That serious problem, plus the fact that after the war nobody wanted flying boats, sealed it’s fate.
Thank you Jonathan for you first tuto. I enjoyed very much the trip over France you did later on. Congratulations for you immaculate english and your perfect accent. I pressed Y, then F4 : it moved up but to move it ahead I didn't understood you. Would you write the detailed procedure please. Regards. Francis BRUGUIERE
There’s a much easier (but slower) way than the slew mode he used, which is if you pull out the clipboard stowed just below the engine instruments in the cockpit, there is a tab that lets you control the movement of the plane on the beaching gear (wheels) while it is on land, and then when the plane reaches the water you can deploy a little tugboat with it and control that too!
I don’t think the flaps are in the way. I’m guessing it’s a safety interlock because, if flaps are still down, you’re possibly not clear of the water, could be landing. Same on landing, flaps won’t come down unless floats down first. I suspect. Great video! No annoying background music
