- Night 3 brings us to Japan and Lovebites. I wanted to focus on the guitar work however then the vocals jump to the fore, then the drums etc. Loved the time we have spent listening to them so far so wanted to make sure they featured in the celebration. More coming soon as well I promise.

The crowd in this wasn't able to go nuts, because there were the most strict Covid-19 restrictions on this concert. It was postponed from January to March 2021, and the audience, who was heavily reduced, wasn't allowed to do more than polite applause, especially no screaming and no dancing. So this is more a Covid culture than a Japanese culture thing...
I'd forgotten that crowd restrictions were in place during COVID. Some times it seems so far away.
The subdued audience reaction was largely due to the COVID restrictions--no screaming or shouting, and people seated in alternate seats. Japanese crowds can go plenty crazy if you give them a chance.
Now you say that it reminds me of the restrictions that were in place. I totally forgot about them. My experience/knowledge of them only really come from watching New Japan Pro wrestling during the period. Thanks for the reminder though.

Lovebites is so good that after their songs end you can't help but want more. They make it so hard to wait.
I must admit I felt the same after this. If we didn't have other videos to record I think it would have been the rest of the evening listening to the whole gig.
Love this song and I agree, their live is better than the studio.
This track really shone alight on that. Absolutely exceptional perfomance.
I hope you do their "Nameless Warrior" track. There's the MV version from 2021 and they've recently done it live with the new bassist from the Knockin' At Heaven's Gate show 2023

I'm going to follow along while you go thru the albums in order... I want to see at what point you both say " LOVEBITES is the most talented band on earth!" They have over 60 songs that range from hard rock to metal, across the spectrum of metal, they do it all. There are great bands that have five members that are highly talented, but not like this band. Their musical composition/writing is next level. There has never been a band that had two leads that play at this level that are so synchronized. Miyako (musical savant) and Midori play extended harmonized solos that are very hard to play without flaw, I've never seen twin guitars ever pull that off like these ladies do. This band live sounds better than any band I have ever heard. They could play all the songs from the great metal bands, but those same bands would crap themselves trying to master many of the LOVEBITES masterpieces. FYI: They have many awesome songs that are only audio, not video (yet).
Don't know if you noticed, but the brunette guitarist was pregnant during this concert.
Because the concert was postponed, it was already 4th or 5th month. Miyako was still able to present a great show though...
I didn't notice that at all. Probably because I was so swept up in the music. Even more impressive.

audience was covid restricted. it was the last show with miho and alo the last one for two years. but they came stronger faster, better out of that hiatus. and found fami.

At the time of this concert, I was also impressed with Haruna's performance, but on her latest album, her performance has evolved and is phenomenal.

Makes sense now and I feel like an idiot for not twigging it during the reaction. It's not like COVID restrictions are so far in the rear view mirror that it is easily forgettable. That being said that is why all those that comment are really appreciated to clarify things like this.

The more I hear the more I love the songs. Fast moving up my list of bands that get played on a daily basis on my walk to work.

Yeah a few people pointed that out to us. Didn't even cross my mind when we were reacting to it. Should have twigged it as I even had the context of watching a load of Japanese wrestling during this period so I was aware of the restrictions.

I conclude, that you've had a pretty good insight to album versions, especially "Awakening From Abyss", but it's a good thing, that you've reacted to this live version. Usually they are stronger in live performances. The production of their live albums is excellent, as good as studio albums. There are still a lot of gems and masterpieces to explore, I'm a little jealous here! 🤪

I hope you will listen to The Lovebites EP. It contains the original, Japanese language version of BRAVEHEARTED, the only Japanese language Lovebites song I’m aware of. I think ASAMI sounds better (much better) singing in her native tongue, and I would be interested in hearing your opinions.

Is it not? I watched it back and I'll be honest I couldn't see it being out of sync. It was taken from the original recording so I am not sure if I could even do anything about it.
Lovebites dont record tracks they cant perform live! (Some say even better live) which is a far cry from shit western bands that are only tolerable recorded and crap live. This is without a doubt the best and most talented band on the planet right now for so many reasons...........Period!!
