Evan Yee, if you’re reading this comment, I recommend using the Chuck 70 for a video. It’s more of a late 60’s early 70’s kind of Converse. Imma say it’s better, because there’s no felt fabric on the 70’s. 7:09 On the ones you got, there is. Plus, there’s a way better thickness in the canvas, while on the normal ones, you got thin cotton canvas.

Favorite shoe of all time has to be the T-Macs 1s. Wearing them now though I never realized how little cushion they had... also kinda heavy for a bb shoe... still 🔥. Love the highlights btw. We need some more of that.

Hey just a helpful hint you should want to use the Converse Chuck 70 all star. The regular chuck has a felt bottom but the chuck 70 has a solid one piece outsole. The felt is the reason why you were slipping in the video. The way to tell those two apart is the chuck 70 has extra stitching on the side for better lateral support. I balled in Chuck 70s my first year of JV basketball. The grip on those is out of this world. I've worn converse for my first 4 years of basketball. First year was the Chuck 70, Second was the Weapon retro, third was the pro leather, and 4th was the Pro Leather 2K11. Fun fact about those is that the ones I have were game worn by NBA player Kyle Korver.

yes because some chucks have a very thin shoe sole but there are thicker ones that are pretty good imo
make sure to buy "taylor 70's" they are way more cushioned, arch support and better grip

I think the original Chuck Taylor Basketball shoes actually had a full length sponge insole that was much better than the street shoes that later on became mainstream.
My first pair we're Champions from Payless way way back in the day. I loved D Wade's first converse shoe, wish I could still buy a pair

you must play with ankle and ball wraps inside those chucks for long hard court time, so buy a larger size to accommodate them socks and wraps
Use PF flyers or pro keds. Converse has those fuzzy bottoms on the sole, that what causes slipping

I was a devout Chuck wearer in middle school and high school myself, never played much basketball in them but used them in gym class daily. Looking back now I was a glutton for punishment! I still wear them occasionally at 30 but wouldn't dare do anything extreme in them. Hats off to those players of yesteryear! Imagine the calluses those guys developed on their feet balling in Chucks for years! Lol

Man, you have to have the right size and love them up properly...... which is using every hole and just loose enough for proper circulation. The canvas, if tightened with a purpose, will actually have you loosening the laces during warm ups because there is too much ankle support...... put some gel insoles in there and leave the 300 dollar shoes to people with a sponsor.

I have a pair of cons that's, what old skoolers call them,made in the USA made with better rubber and canvas and the saying goes ( If your sneakers slip and slide get the ones with the star on the side) Converse for players only. Now if u don't know now u know.
I wore chucks all throughout hs and I only play street ball w my friends but all I hoop in is chucks and everyone thinks I’m crazy, really just don’t wanna spend hella money on shoes. I don’t get blisters cause my feet are probably just used to them after the years.

Nike make these today as lifestyle footwear but in the day they were made with rubber soles an stronger canvas... And you needed to buy the right size, which meant 3 or 4 pairs of socks when you tried them on... Nobody was ballin in just on pair of socks... Modern Chuck's look the same... But they ain't...

Chucks today are not made the same way as they were before 2000. The sole is different. Before the sole was all rubber. Now there is a center rubber patch in the forefoot and heel. But around it is a fuzzy felt like fiber. It cuts down on rubber compounds which probably cost more than the fiber. I wouldn’t even try to ball in it. Old school Chucks has grip for days until they were worn down, or you were on some really dirty floors.
