It would be great if you could show the retrieval process at some point! Love the Diesel Duck.

The deployment process is shown on the video "Crossing the Bay of Biscay". Currently the boat is covered in thick snow and surrounded by ice,but next season I will film the retrieval process.

Thank you for posting these videos. You discussed the paravanes could you actually show the the deployment and retrieval . when you get the chance. Could you shoot a video of you underway with sails deployed and the goings on at the captains chair.😀

That was actually my intention from the very beginning, but being only two people onboard retrieval demanded my full attention not giving time for filming. Next time perhaps

Awesome video. How much do the paravanes reduce rolling by? Do you find the DD to be a good sea boat?

The paravanes not only reduce the size of rolling but also the velocity.
Some years ago we crossed the Ionian Sea with 35kts of beamseas rolling heavily +-20-25deegrees. Once the paravanes were launched rolling was reduced to 12-15 degrees and rolling slower.

Can I specify a stabilizer besides the paravane in my build or not?

Before using the paravanes again, replace a missing split pin in the aft port side paravane boom root pin

Thank you indeed ! I checked the port side paravane and as observed the split pin was missing and now replaced. How did you notice the split pin was missing?

GA. I hope all is well. I had another idea. I am not clear on the sails. Maybe you can do a video of you deploying and closing the sails. There is not a whole lot of video of the day to day of the DD. Another question is there enough cold and or dry storage soace to travel for 30 days. I then wold also suggest reaching out to Dieselduck.com to point to your videos, because theirs are all stills from the 1998 and or 2000 ( not all but, most) Regards Vince

What a disgusting use of diesel.

I disagree. It's a beautiful and wonderful use of diesel. I'm slightly envious.

Enlighten me to your idea of "better use" of diesel.

@@bllzdp6558 IDK, crewing a research/exploration boat so that some scientific or economic endeavour can be served, instead of NOTHING.
I've been to Lisbon, I flew there, it took 3 hours and I didn't use several thousand gallons of fuel. I can't think of a more efficient way to waste resources than motoring a house through water to go on holiday.
Using a motorboat for personal international transit is the most idiotic and selfish action I can think of. Anyone should be allowed to do whatever they want with their money, but I can't think of a more wasteful personal endeavour than this.

@@phillycheesetake I see your point but the way I look at it, freedom is getting more and more rare so take it while you can regardless of a little bit of diesel usage. The diesel ducks are very efficient compared to other boats motorhomes and cars. Have a great day.

These vessels burn less fuel than a typical home in the north in the winter. Low carbon footprint. In addtion most will use sun or wind for electrical generation.
