Khaliya Top Munsiyari | Winter trek | snowfall feb2020

The Khaliya Top is a meandering meadow surrounded by snowy peaks, offering an awe-inspiring view of the mystical land of Kumaun. The Khaliya Top is perched at an astonishing altitude of 3500 metres above sea level and located near Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. Khaliya is a paradise for Trekkers, not only for matured trekkers, khaliya is easy access for beginners and teenagers too.
Since the trek trails were hidden due to snowfall during the previous night of our trek, We had to hire a local guide with us. Once we reached the top the guide returned back and we stayed on top for one night. The guide charged us Rs.1000 and the stay on top costed Rs.1500. The resort on top is run by Cosmos tours and expedition in munsiyari.

It’s a one day short trek. You can either return back the same day or you can stay up there and witness sunrise next morning

How was your stay at the rest house during Feb end?
Did you stay overnight? since some locals told me that the conditions are extreme, water frozen and no availablity of electricity, toilets etc during this period.

Yes I stayed overnight. You will have attached toilets in rooms. Water alone we need to fetch it in a bucket from a tank in front of room. You will also have electricity facility. I strongly recommend you to stay there and enjoy the sunrise next morning.

I think you are asking about the zero point. Due to excess snow we weren't able to go beyond the resort till zero point.

You can do this trek on your own. Since there was lot of snow and the trek trails were not visible we hired a guide. If not guide is not needed.

Usually in February you are most likely to see snow in himalayas. In December if your lucky enough you might get it.
