My sister just passed away. ♥ We were 15 months apart in age. She was 73. This was our signature song at family gatherings and we even sang it at a public event. She did the melody and I the harmony. My mom and two younger sisters loved listening to us sing this great song with our spontaneous "moves." This song will always be special to our family.
Hi Marilu, today is the first time for me to listen to this song. I started to like listening to old songs. I just immigrated to the US a few years ago. English is not my language. I am headed to late 60. Nice to know how this song will always be special to your family. So, my name is David Hidayat :)
Its sad that the late 50's-early 60's had to end. We just dont make music, cars, movies, anything like we used to anymore. This was music at its finest hour.
Today's music, movies suck! I keep this music by playing it all, like it or not! I'm 53 but mom was in a band so she got us started in listening to doo woop & the blues!❤
Oh our innocence 😢 I miss so much about that time. Sitting with my cousins and their friends not even realizing life would slap us upside our heads with the death of my cousin in Vietnam. Age 19
Haven't heard this song for 50 yrs and all of a sudden the lyrics come to me, so I came here to check it out and I remembered 90% of the lyrics. Memories are funny things, sort of like a libraries in your head.
I sang that song in grade school and got a standing ovation , then years later i had an operation for appendix and they put a tube in my throat for breathing, and they ruined my vocal chords after that couldn't hold a tune, but i can still listen to it and memories are still with me .
@@miguelalvarado2343 WOW! Was this at a school talent show that you sang this song??? I am so glad that you have your memories..... and that you still have the lyrics memorized!!! In 1962, I was a junior in high school. I had a girlfriend whose real name was, yes, Mary Sue. I've never seen nor heard from her after we graduated. I hope she had a great life.
heard it on the radio at the barber shop yesterday, for the first time in many years: sounds just as good today as back in the early 1960s. just beautiful...
First knew about this song while had piano classes when I was a kid, and we were practicing the accords of doo-woop songs. Now I’m 24 and not many time ago I learned that my grandma loved it in the 60s when she was a young girl. Now every time I listen to this song I start to weep and continue weeping, trying to cope with the fact that one day she will depart. I’m attached to her in a enormous way. Thanks to everyone who read.
Music to remember! I was 15 when this song made the charts, learning about girls and going to high school "sock hops" what a great era and generation to grow up in.
CYO dances at St. Anthony's on Wednesday night. And we danced. With GIRLS! Arms around them and their boobies against our chest. And a kiss on the neck if you didn't get caught by Msgr. Russo.
Great song. I can listen to this song now without having tears. But I found my sweetheart. 35 years married to the sweetest and most affectionate wife ever.
Yep... the fellows and I would do the same thing in the bathrooms and more often in the apartment hall corridors- usually during the winter months after a few beers!... We were often told by very understanding tenants , " Keep it down guys!"

What a Great song from Don and Juan
My wife Lena and I came to NY USA on March 13, 1962.. that was playing then and it still playing in us.
1962... a good year for songs like this. Don and Juan were part of a group back in the 1950's. Sang Whose That Knockin' - the Genies
That group also had Eugene Pitt of the jive five in it
we married oct. 29th 1962,, stil togetter
Claude Johnson who is Juan was with the Genies 3-4 years earlier.
The song brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't help it. I became so emotional listening to this masterpiece doo-wop gem!!
I like this one in the dark of the night it feels so sad and transport you to the past
Cruising down the street at night with this playing on the radio 💖
Feb 2023 still sounds good after 50 years. Also could dance to it, something difficult nowadays.
What happened to all my wonderful music. The music in the 50s, 60s n 70s was the best music in the world.
American Idol brought me here. Love this song. Doo Wop is so awesome

Hard to believe it's been 60 years since this song was a hit.
Got this song on my oldies but goodies vol 9 great song
We used to sing this in the hallways of our junior high in Detroit back in the day
My Dad had this song on an open reel mixtape he recorded off the radio in 1962-3. It was always a treat when he'd bring out the recorder and play us a tape. As a preschool age boy, I always wondered if the singer still liked the girl after getting to the end of the song and finding out her name is "Jujupoppidah!"
I repeated this song like 50 times since I discovered it.
Under the moon, under the stars and under the sun.I come here often to escape the harsh realities of life.

Incomparable. An absolute American classic in every way.
I remember this song from when I was a kid. I would hear it on the radio.
These songs they got me through when I was in the army 1979-82
I don't understand why they say it was 1962. I danced with my love to it in 1961. You don't forget those things!
